Hello Christy,
Hope you all have a fab time in Killarney today. Makes me think about your gondola joke!
I’ve been bashing away at the guitar for two months now, in and amongst adding to my novelty capo collection.
So I’m jumping off the cliff and showing you where I’ve got to, with a little help from Wally Page. https://youtu.be/VBsFvfg2Lw0?si=oBRFRfeumnLg-dk5
I don’t mind comments, if anyone wants to say anything.
http://www.bobdylancenter.com is now featuring a major exhibition…Dylan in the early 1960s – political consciousness,Civil Rights etc…a vital period in US history and Dylan,Baez st al in the mix…
The website and trailer is brilliant…as it’s in Tulsa ,USA,that’s all I’ll see if it…but,we can watch, read and dream….
If any readers here can visit the Center,it would be great to hear views…
Hi christy and folks
Tomorrow a pal and i are doing a sponsored walk of 30m for trussel trust foodbanks and meningitis research, any suggestions for songs to humm, sing or listen to ‘on the road’ ?

with the help of a room full of Kerry Songsters, harmonizers, warblers and assorted accompaniests I’m looking forward to returning to Cill Áirne uair amháin eile….despite its new acronym, the INEC will always be Gleneagles to me…. I cherish the memory of those nights back in the 1980s when I played a weekly Summer residency in that old unique room…..the late Maurice always a gracious host…..we shared manys the bottle of stout apres gig and ruminated the state of the nation….
Hello Christy.Looki ng forward to Kilarney tommorow night. No doubt another musical 🎼 masterpiece .The very best of luck tommorow night.Let the music keep our spirits high.

be careful coming over the top…..you can freewheel all the way down into Kenmare..watch out for the Paddy Wagons around Ladies View
Hello Christy. Still so happy about the NCH-experience in May, singing songs all day, especially City of Chicago, because it was the opener. Although I never left the beginner’s level in playing guitar, I practice some songs now. Thanks also for this sort of motivation. Good luck for continuing your brillant performances. And thanks to Hilary and Patsy (?) for the links to the Marquee reviews. — Meanwhile when visiting concerts my wife and I do always book an accomodation nearby. It’s comfortable and relaxing to have no hurry and car driving afterwards. Günter

My Brother’s song still the opener..its a great settler of nerves …gets listeners singing from the very start…Luka is playing in Killorglin tonight…two Kildare brothers singing in Kerry on the same night….I always loved playing in Cologne back in earlier times..always very lively gigs
Hello Christy,
It’s a fine site here these days. Lots of chat and interaction. I’ve chatted to loads of great people here. Some of them have materialised in the real world. It’s magic! It sounds like you’re doing the important things right now. We all love chatting to you here., youre the nectar to the bees, but needs must when the days remain stubbornly 24 hours long.
I was just thinking about accomodation for gigs. What’s the most important thing for me. I can’t deny that, now I’m in my mid 50s I do appreciate comfort and care, but the most important thing for me is that where I’m staying is close to the venue. A short five minutes walk, or even just a few flights of stairs and we’re back home. Wondering how other people here do this. Some here have years of practice at it. How does it work best?

I lived and played in the UK for 6 years…sleeping bag and floor., occasionally a spare bed or a friendly couch..before that we went to the Fleadh Ceoils….then it was 5 star hay sheds or railway sidings,
June 1971,saw Tim Hart and Maddy Prior play a blinder in a Manchester folk club. I’d heard early Steeleye Spani, but not seen the band.
After the gig,a few people were chatting and Tim tipped us off about a TV recording the following day…what a tip off! Turned out to be Granada TV recording Steeleye and Fairport on Ainsdale Beach…afternoon rehearsals, evening recording…
The magic YouTube now has versions of the TV show…Out Front…
I blagged a half day off work, met mates and we hit the train, then a lengthy beach walk…afternoon hanging out with both bands, watched evening Steeleye, missed Fairport …heading for the last train.
A favourite memory. Great to revisit just now…Tim Hart,Dave Swarbrick RIP

Not anti-semitic just pro-children.

Hi christy,
Trusting all is well with you and yours.
On my walk to work today i played Mick Blake’s Oblivious album.
Every time i listen to it i am struck by its lyrics.
Today particularly so by……
Now blight is often quoted as the root of Ireland’s woes
But enough to feed this country two times over left these shores
The army guarded ports from Donegal to Bantry Bay
So British ships could safely carry Irish food away.
On the Box Set is a stunning piece called On A Single Day. Now i appreciate you cannot really ‘perform’ it live but have you thought of somehow giving it more airtime?
Cheers
