Christy,
As a close neighbour of one of the victims of the Stardust I was only a child in 1981 but the memories are strong. It was incredible to see this event after so long a wait. Thank god it has eventually happened and the families and friends of the victims have had the state apology and this special state event. I loved your performance and felt it was right you said all the word that were stiffled for so many years. Fair play to you…. xx
Hello Christy,
I was intrigued by your description of the TLT Theatre setting being the opposite of New Grange. I visit New Grange as often as I can (so that’s two times, so far…). There’s nowhere else like it and the walk up across the Boyne fields is a feeling I’ll never forget.
Not many pics of the TLT online, we’ll be there on 19th July, it has a large flat front , black, with a small square entrance, low down, front and centre. So far so good. I’m wondering about what you said. The energy is inside, but it comes from the outside, like all theatres. Do you see it radiating out? I’m looking forward to the gig so much. And now this intriguing theatre to experience too .

The TLT always tickles my fancy…
it is located in Business Estate…it is surrounded by commercial buildings….yet within lies a performance place that has unique acoustics and air, always a good atmosphere….its the Heart of The Wee once the lights go down….always a joy to play the TLT

Hi Christy
Reading the Saturday sports of a Sunday and
came across this little piece…
Imagine telling someone in 1951
that we’d send a Mayo woman into space before
we’d win another All Ireland
The good doctor won’t be heading up before 2026.
So time is still on their side
But it’s feckin running out like.

Hi CM, apology in advance that I have a question in hope of someone from the Drogheda area may be able to help: I am attending CM’s concert at the TLT in Drogheda on Saturday, July 6th, short of a taxi ride, is there public transportation I can take from Dublin Airport directly to Drogheda? [Last July I took a Dublin airport bus to City Center, then found my way to Connolly Train Station to board a train to Drogheda. Can i do better?]

Pete or Petel ? will you pick a song ? let me know….we appreciate our long haul listeners
Ahhh C I trust the feeling of morto was fleeting and has now well and truly passed !!! It’s a very big room and prompts don’t carry so well. It was a high energy gig and the place was buzzing, that’s the memory I , and I’m sure many others, will hold onto. Beir bua agus beannacht. H

Hope you got home safe under that huge midsummer moon. Magic Nights. Right after the lockdown, a gig at Glor in Ennis. Can’t remember the song. I felt the words n your head disappear into a black hole. Mine were taken with them, like they’d never existed. Connections across space. Strange place music and song. I don’t understand it but I love it.
Thankyou for what you said about where I’m up to with the guitar. I think about playing and singing and songs all the time. It’s good to have something creative holding you.

While you were rocking Killarney,I had a great find on YouTube…
Every one of the classic BBC Radio Ballads has been posted…and every one a gem. Genius production work by Charles Parker, linked to MacColl,Seeger et al ,writing and performing.
Hopefully, they’re not just on the tube for a limited time,it’ll be good to chip away at them over time.
Hi C. Congrats on another great night in the Gleneagle !!! You sure got a great welcome, you set the Kindgom Choir on fire from the very first song and neither you nor they disappointed for the rest of the night. You were on the ball doing Cliffs of Doneen, and Boys of Barr na Sraide. It was great to hear the Rob Corcoran classic as well as They Never Came Home and Only Her Rivers Run Free, of course the 3 Jimmy Mac gems Ride On , Missing You and Bright Blue Rose were very welcome. There was a great vibe in the room and and great joy I think, the gig on the longest day of the year flew by in a flash. GRMMA, beir bua agus beannacht. H

mortified when I stumbled on Barr na Sráide but ye were a forgiving audience….I played Sigerson’s song over and over during the week but went awry on verse 4…..then to miss verse 2 of North & South….disaster was averted in Quinte when verses 2 & 3 got swapped….to think that Bob Hilliard was almost omitted ,in Killarney of all places…
we are motoring across Kilkenny in the light of a full moon on the longest day…
Hi Christy ,, as i write this we are heading out to Ventry after another fantastic gig .. you really were on fire again tonight thank you and all the crew hopefully we see you very soon.. Tony , Fiona ..

Great to read your comment about you and Luka both playing gigs in Kerry tonight…on the tram into town,I was thinking about the huge musical contributions you’ve both made…
A few hours later,I visited the newly renovated Manchester School of Art – and a beautiful job has been made of it…vibrant with the Degree exhibition from graduates. Admiring a tiled corridor,I was drawn to a memorial…naming art students ‘ who laid down their lives’ in two world wars…
1914-1918. 10 men,1 woman
1939-1945 25 men 1 woman
37 artists gone ,talent lost forever …from just one college…brutal.
I remembered seeing a film of Luka visiting/playing at The Menin Gate,Ypres,Belgium…the memorial to WW1dead,many killed at nearby Passchendaele. Thankfully, there are a few pieces on YouTube about Luke’s 2015 visit. I’ve just watched one…poignantly and aptly, titled ‘Lowland Brothers’…
