I continue to be flummoxed to this day by the support the orange face has. I mean, what gives? Let’s focus on the positive: I’m in the same time zone with all of you now, Drogheda here I come!
A great result last night Christy & although a landslide victory more of a ‘get the Tories out’ than ‘get Labour in’ vote by many people. Starmer still has a long way to go to win over working class people, but defiantly a small step in the right direction on a long road.
Hail Hail Dave
Watching the swallows here.
A new dawn ( though not with tony orlando) rises to greet us.
Music must be played.

I recall two dark mornings..when we woke to the news of a Brexit vote and a Trump Presidency…. this morning’s news brings rays of hope…though we are not directly involved here (in the 26) we most certainly will be effected by this outcome….we’ve looked anxiously across the Irish Sea as the UK parliament literally “went to the dogs”….now we look fearfully towards Washington at the possibility of that lying ,evil, bullying, misogynistic buffoon returning power…Boris and Donald were a terrifying pair of lard heads…one down and, hopefully, one to go….in the meantime, theres work to be done, as harvest time approaches we got to keep the weeds at bay, change the strings, tune the box, step up to the mark once more and make a bit of a racket..
Good day to all you songsters out there….
“I dreamt that Gregory Cambell was speaking Irish in The Dáil

I received a couple of those messages from musicians “Private” sites and “official fan pages” too – though none purporting to be from yourself. They are pretty realistic but it is unlikely that any artist will ask their fans to contact them. We are lucky to have this forum where we can engage with the real deal, but it pays to be careful on the other social media sites. Polling day up here in the North. It used to be a day of excitement and tension but, sadly, it seems all too predictable these days. Even in England, the prospect of ousting such a cruel government is tempered wit the feeling that it is being replaced by a lighter version of the same. I remember the joy of Bliar’s election (boy were we fooled) and a memorable version of ” A Change is Gonna Come” by Declan in Derry when Obama was elected. Still, the fight goes on and seeing the Artane families getting justice reminds us that the turns in the road can delay us but hopefully not stop us. There are still so many good, hardworking people in our communities battling away. When the election is all over we’ll all be pushing up clover 🙂
After leaving school, before Fairport took off,it’s often been reported that Richard Thompson was an apprentice stained glass artist.Having read more detail, recently, there’s some good art to be admired…
Hans Unger was the London exiled,German artist who employed RT…known as a skilled graphic artist,Unger and partner,Eberhard Schultze worked on top notch commissions for London Transport etc…good info via. http://www.selvedge.org
Young Thompson worked on stained glass for churches…a new venture for Unger and, highly praised. Several projects are not far from me…I feel some bus pass trips coming on! for anyone interested in research etc, there’s some good online info…For RT,there were other ventures. It must have been a fascinating job while it lasted.

The sun is shining, birds are singing,Woody’s playing…in a few minutes I’m walking to my Polling Station ,to put an X on the spot that I hope will contribute to stem the rising fascist tide…
Also, some interesting art to follow up…more later…for now,a cuppa to slurp and a task to do…
The aforementioned Mogwai have a great track ‘thatcher george square death party’ in fact my youngest son Charlie went to see them live last saturday in glasgow after the free palestine rally.

Hello again,
I’m sorry I bothered you with my previous message, it’s not your fault someone misuses your name.
But also I have beautiful experiences I want to share.
Firstly there was the musicfestival “Live is Live” that took place in the Middenvijver right in front of my door. I could hear the music in my livingroom and so I discovered Mogwai, a Scottish band. I suppose you know them. For me it was new and I like their music very much.
And I saw an exhibition by Cecile Miguel, a Belgian artist I never heard of. You know, Belgium is divided into Flanders and Wallonië. Living in the same country it’s strange we know so little about each other culturally. We still have a lot to learn…

Hi Moeke…I appreciate your info re the fake account….thank you…
over the years I have played in Belgium 6 times…also my Son lived there for 10 years and gave us an understanding of the different cultures in your country……..
Well Christy, it’s decision day tomorrow this side of the water, fingers crossed we get the right result and the tactical voters in France get their act together to keep Le Pen out of office. No Pasaran.

The right is rising once again around the globe…so far they have not gained traction politically on these two Islands but we must remain vigilant at all times …we have nests of fascist rats in both our countries .. they communicate with each other as they seek to foment disorder and carry out their mindless thuggery….let us all be alert to the rising fascist tide….let us fight them any way we can….
Hello Christy,
Just wanted to add to Moeke’s comment, and hopefully alert others. This a happened on Facebook to me too. I’ve twice been approached by a fake Christy page, and once by a fake Declan Sinnott page. So it could be happening to more people.

Hello Christy, I have to tell you something what happens to me. A few months ago I received on Facebook a friendship request from Christy Moore with a photo of you, which I let know on a message from your real page on April 5. Now, on this post I receive a message “from you” with a question to inform, you directly on your “ private page”. I am quite suspicious so I took a look on “your private page” and knew it is fake, although there is a photo of you. That is what I want you to know. Shall I report this?
Ps I also got a friendship request from “the official fan page “ of Christy Moore , but it seems,to me to be fake too. With love

Gipp is spot on with Liam’s take on Eric Bogle’s masterpiece…I heard Liam sing it on gigs a few times. Even more chilling…
Right now,I’m playing Fotheringay 2…a lovely version of Wild Mountain Thyme has been on repeat a few times…always a powerful song, with added impact here – singers,Sandy Denny and Trevor Lucas, both gone too soon.

My favourite Clancy’s era was early 60s….I was just a butt of a lad when they resounded in my ears…across the Atlantic came news of of 3 Tipperary /Waterford rapscallions with their Keady companero in tow…hearing them was a life enhancing/affirming/altering experience ..then seeing them when I was 16 was the greatest gig I’ve ever experienced….myself and Turlough McGowan sat awestruck in the Olympia Theatre (or was it The Gaitey) circa 1962…it was simply magnificent….the four of them gathered around a single microphone giving it the full lash…a couple of years later I heard Liam sing one Sunday afternoon. He was on the street at a Fleadh Ceol in Bunclody Co Wexford….when he sang “The Streams of Bunclody” …that was it for me….a vocation was hatched,an obsession conceived… it took me 3 further years to jump from the 9 to five….
That early Clancy/Makem sound topped it all….heard and enjoyed many various line-ups after but nothing resonated like those early performances from Liam,Tom,Paddy and Tommy…
This just does it for me, infact I cant listen to it anymore as I always end up in floods of tears! Did you have many encounters with Liam Christy? In his prime 60’s, 70’s 80’s wasn’t he resident in Canada and North America and retired back to An Rinn? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PFCekeoSTwg
Hi, Christy and friends of
Reading here of Dylan at the White Horse reminds me of my paternal grandfather’s brother, who was brained nearby for the money in his pocket – common then – after arriving at the nearby docks. The constables declared he fell and broke his skull after leaving the bar, but Grandad and he weren’t that way, and made of concrete besides. I don’t believe anyone witnessed Dylan Thomas falling after leaving the tavern, and it seems likely as not he was mugged, with cops delivering their pat assessment. Besides being great singers, the brothers Clancy probably had to thump a thug or two along the way.
Many older NY pubs used to have brass carbide lanterns taken from BA motorcycles sitting on a shelf behind the bar. Dad has one his father pulled off a BA motorcycle somewhere in Galway, after Michael put the light out.
I continue to be flummoxed to this day by the support the orange face has. I mean, what gives? Let’s focus on the positive: I’m in the same time zone with all of you now, Drogheda here I come!
