Just wandered across this. A guy has been testing the acoustic properties of stonehenge. It looks like the tests show that it’s interior works like an acoustic space that amplified voices and improved the sound of any music being played for people standing within the circle!
Brilliant to read the comments about last night’s gig…I know the location and can imagine the gig setting.Hopefully,some kind souls will post YouTube clips.Theres a good/too short clip of Van Morrison in Iveagh Gardens recently.Great sound and a nice,panned shot of the audience…

a beautiful sight before me as I gazed out across The Gardens….thousands gathered to hear the songs, they sang gloriously from “the off” but also listened intently when the mood took them….one curious seagull swooped in during “The Well”….managed to squeeze in 3 from the forthcoming album….going back down for a snooze now…still buzzing after last night’s fun
Congratulations Christy and crew what a outstanding gig that was ? Everything just seemed to come together for the 90 minutes, the sunshine, the setlist,the singer, the sound and the choir/ audience !! People sang out, listened and appreciated your sometime subtle sometimes overt political messages, be it on Palestine or gender violence. I have to highlight also your bodhran work on The Well it was thunderous, again fair play to your sound crew. It will go down as one of your greatest gigs I feel.What an honour to be there? GRMMA. Beir bua agus beannacht.H

The weather held up Thanks Be….Mick had The Child Of Prague on the dash as we rode into town….I was ready for the mug of scald by the end of the set….my stage clobber was bone dry and wont need laundering before we return to TLT in The Wee…gonna lie low before goin in to watch McGuinness v The Tribe on Sunday… a hard call for The Meade family., them domicliled in Ballyshannon and The Da havin won 3 All Irelands with Galway….
Christy! Stellar performance tonight in the Iveagh Gardens, I had the privilege of standing front and centre this evening and enjoyed every last second of your set. You put the likes of Micki Minaj and even a 24-year old like myself to shame with the energy and enthusiasm you put into your performance! I thoroughly look forward to seeing you perform again in Bundoran come September!

I spotted you bopping like a laddo there in the front row….twas like a Saturday night in The Auld Sheebeen
Somebody was telling me that they recently went to hospital for a CT scan . When he was being prepped for the procedure he was asked if he had any particular type of music he would like to listen to that would help to keep him calm and relaxed , he said “how about a bit of Christy Moore” the radiologist said that would be no problem and she fitted the headphones with Christy going full belt , before he knew it, he was being taken back out with the job done , when they asked how did he feel afterwards he said he was enjoying Christy so much that he could have stayed in there !

sorry to hear of your set back….I hope the tickets were used….it went well, the rain stayed off as the Sun went down behind Harcourt St…twas nippy enough up on stage,,the fingers got cold towards the end of the set and I kept droppin the plectrum…seagulls swooped during Lisdoonvarna

My wife used to work with the choir boy for michael stoute around 35 years ago before he was a sir, before the toffs and oil wealth, the buyers of all Tipp’s good land and before lester retired.
Love the jumps, once had a flat horse but he ran like a jumper so mine are all leppers now.

I’m out the door with requests for collaborations….Taylor, Shania, Pink and Nicky Minaj all looking for the low Bodhrán beat……Shania is a native of Kildare and Pink a distant cousin…..I reckon Micky Minaj could not stick the pace…their brief set was so short you’d wonder why they bothered to travel…

I cant even get a ticket for myself… good complaint tho…I did a gig here in Dublin almost 60 years ago and not one listener turned up
A note to make you aware of the impact your music and song writing has had. Your music has been in my life for all of my life…my Dad was a huge fan and went to many of your concerts throughout his life including your time in Planxty. I can’t listen to your music without thinking of places we went while your music played in the background….especially on family holidays to France where your music was the back track to the long drives from ferry port to destination
The impact your music has had on Dad and on us is truly remarkable and he clearly connected intimately with your song words, style of playing and performance
My Dad’s name was Paul McGuiggan from Bellaghy (Ballynease to be precise), South Derry. He was unfortunately diagnosed with late stage bowel cancer in Sept 22 and passed away just in December 23, aged 71. In preparation for his passing, he created his own spotify playlist which included a number of your songs…this was the back ground music to the final journey of his illness, his short time in the hospice and at his wake. He chose “The Time Has Come” as one of his funeral songs and he used one of the lines from “Beeswing” for his gravestone.
He actually met you a couple of years ago in Armagh, where you signed a copy of an original poster of a Planxty concert he attended back in the ’70s.
We have also become fans, often playing your music and singing ourselves now my own children are immersed!
Me and my husband got last minute tickets to see you tonight, as they were sold out when we tried to get them months ago so we are delighted! Dad will be very much present for us through your music.
If you feel like giving Dad a shout out tonight, I think he would be very chuffed wherever he is!

The Iveagh Garden is a grand spot adjacent to Stephen’s Green…The original Guinness Family left many legacies to the City…many members of the original Beerocracy were far seeing philantropists….apart from these gardens there are many examples of their gifts still exist today…sadly some have fallen into the greedy hands of gombeen developers who leave them falling into ruin
Guinness is now in the remit of Diageo….not much philantropy there….Arthur’s Day said it all

The good wife and stepson bathed in the shadow of the Cuillins yesterday, some may say a pair of fools in the Fairy Pools (Glumagan nan Sithichean).
What a gorgeous island.
The dipping reminded me of a slightly less cold swim in the loughs around Ath Cinn in Galway , 2 beautiful places.
Am going a wander to a beach today listening to Seanie Bermingham from Tipp ( worth a check out) on bandcamp whilst the others head into Port Righ….our place names ‘slaughtered’ by the redcoats like yours were.

enjoy your break way up North Rory….hope you are recording the Doc “Horse Power” on BBC 4…its excellent…I’d not be a huge fan of “the flat”…too many Sheiks and Toffs….but Horse Power deals mainly with those who work with the horses…some ingriguing insights to the flat

I saw you a few times in Belgium. Once I would have seen you in Brussels but before the concert my husband and I got a big row so we went back home. But later I saw you in Antwerp . I think you were in Dranouter too, isn’t it? Do you know Willem Vermandere? He is a Flemish folksinger and great musician. He is 84 now and he announced that he will immediately stop performing and has cancelled all the upcoming gigs. His last one was in Oostende end of June, sold out, too bad for me.
I hope you will keep singing for a long time, please. I still have to come to Ireland to hear you. Goodnight Christy

Last time I seen you at an outdoor gig was at the Electric Picnic, yourself and Deccy were on at the same time as a young fella called Ed Sheeran.

Just ironing the keks, washin jocks and socks, planning to recieve tomorrow and get my plectrum blest by the local curate..they are a decent enough sort..
both my Electric Picnic gigs were beneath canvas in the era of John Reynolds who’s vision created that event..
Tomorrow will be my first open air gig since I opened for U2 in Croke Park 36 years ago….Simple Minds played too…twas like the Railway Cup Finals…I almost won the minor match
One thing about playing right handed when you’re left handed.. the sweet callouses I’ve been developing confuse my mobile phone when I tap the screen. Damn…
