Hello Christy,
1st November eh? The Big Marquee! Lovely!
All with a prevailing wind, may it all go smoothly.
Can’t wait to hear it, we’ll get some of it in Sligo I hope…. envious of the ones who’ve already heard some. Any recordings or videos about, pretty please??
Just sitting here playing lots of Travis picking. My book says it was named after Mr Travis from the 1940s who maybe didn’t invent it. My other guitar book told me how to say “thumb” in Spanish. I gave up on that book a page later…

Yes ..Nov 1st….The Big Marquee is title to one of the tracks but not the album…

Word of a cracker in Galway.. just to follow Patsy’s comment re: Coldplay, they played a verse and chorus of Ride On too. It’s great that despite all the muddle that must accompany being superstars, they still recognise a great song like Jimmy MacCarthy’s..

Chris Martin invited me to sing with them last night but I was on active service below in Galway…sound men….played with them in Punchestown a few years back … held the door for Beyoncé backstage..Jayzee tipped me 50 bucks…

Hi Christy,
What a night in Galway. You got stuck into it from the throw in, with no holding back. The audience too joined in with Gusto. I love “Mná”, and I was just thinking to myself coming home that if the Germans daughter stayed around in Ballyfermot, would her daughter be now eligible to play for Ireland?😀.
Hear on the Radio that ColdPlay did a did a cover of your version of “Hurt” in Croke park tonight.
Ride on.
Patsy.

Moeke, you reminded me of an idea I had some time ago. As Christy doesn’t travel outside Ireland any more, I thought we in ‘central Europe’ , Germany, the Benelux countries and any other mainland neighbours could set up a wee fanclub ‘ Overhere’.
We could maybe arrange a get-together, here in our Irish club centre, and with Christy’s blessing have a DVD evening, Barrolands, The Point, etc. Sure I’m sure Andy could set a live stream visit from the man himself on the evening.
Any interest out there?
Drop me an email/pm to patdarcyis@gmail.com
Moeke, please send me your email address and we can continue the chat.

hope that idea gathers some momentum…might we even tempt some UK songsters back to Europe…..
Hi Christy,
I was speaking to Stephen today and he reminds me that he and Kim are coming over for the Sligo gig next week.
He recited ‘taking tea with pinochet’ for the youtube video that Pat put together of many 4711ers.
We agreed he was unlikely to hear it ‘performed’ next week though it will be there in the hearts of you both.
I hear Thatcher has been removed from the study in no.10, i know where she else could be hung !
Rory
Christy's reply
I’ll have to go back to Box Set and check it out
Thatcher & Pinochet….well matched…
Howya Christy, It’s Harry here. I can’t wait to see you in Leisure Land tonight, I know you’ll be class as usual. I started secondary school on Monday so the gig tonight will be a much needed break from all the work! I’m coming tonight with my little sister who will be seeing you for the first time, she can’t wait! If you’re able to can you play Viva La Quinta Brigada, Motherland and Joxer. Last time I saw you in Limerick was surreal and I’m sure tonight will be the same. Good Luck and as you’d say yourself, Ride On!
Harry
