Hello Christy,
Great posts on here. I love Pats’ idea of a fan group. It’s got me thinking of lots of ideas too. I got in touch with Pat to ask if hed like to include a live element, singing songs etc… and this is not something he wants to do. So I’m pretty sure my idea isn’t stepping on any toes, fingers crossed!
During the pandemic many people formed groups that could meet online using Zoom, because they couldn’t get together physically.
Now I’m thinking of all the great people I’ve met online, here in particular, and all the music I’ve had a chance to listen to and share in with people who are linked by Christy’s music, but who live far away from each other.
I’m wondering about starting a group for like minded souls, linked by Christys music, to get together via Zoom, and to be a gentle and kind space to listen, talk, and share their own singing and playing if they want to.
It could work like a folk club floor spot and let us get together to sing and listen from wherever we find ourselves, with no barriers of distance or space.
I’ve got the IT knowhow (and technical support…) to set this up and make it work. Zoom is free, so it wouldn’t cost anything.
If you think this sounds interesting and you might like to join in, here is my email address Moonsongstress@aol.com
From me an email and we’ll see how it develops.
Hi Christy,
we’re on our way from Germany to Ireland again to see the gig in Sligo on Thursday. We went to the concerts im Galway and Westport in 2023 and 2022 and both were the highlights of our holidays!
Looking forward to Thursday so much!

the Eurostar to Sligo. ! …will it stop in Mullingar ?
Jaysus Christy! I always love it when you take us out West to An Spideal! There’s no better drive from Salthill out to lettermore and Gorumna. I always stop in Tigh Hughes and think of this lot. Andy stepping out and the Bard stepping in! (From The Embankment) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uTMGwCYcVhw
Dear Old White Man, I hope you and yours are hale and hearty. A post before from a lady called Anne reminded me of 1988 when Fairground Attraction released their album. ‘The lights on the Westway go on …’
I recall the Kilburn National and Cambridge Folk that year. What a year! I remember hitch hiking to Cambridge. I wish I had the presence of mind to write down the set lists.
I am anticipating forthcoming gigs however it appears one needs a hair trigger on the mouse to get a ticket.
Keep well from old brown woman. 🙂

if you remind me which year at cambridge and I will cobble together a probable set list
if you are planning a visit let us know…
Hi Christy,
really looking forward to your new album! Two months to go, that sounds very good to me :-).
What an interesting set list ! Curious to listen to the new songs. I had to look up cumann (at least “na mná” I knew already) – always good to learn something new.
@Pat: brilliant idea! Thank you so much for taking the effort to bring us fans together.
I’m counting the days til my next holiday in Ireland that is literally “framed” by your 2nd concert in Bundoran and Enfield – lucky me to see you twice within one stay on the island!
Meanwhile I’m still practicing to play my guitar and sing along. Not easy, but a lot of fun and th best way for me to relax after work. Like @Matty and @Rebecca I’m currently trying to learn some picking as well (e.g. Magdalene Laundries, Bright Blue Rose and Dougie MacLean’s “Ready for the storm”). Makes it harder for me to sing along as I have to concentrate more on my fingers, but fun to make some even if slow progress…
All the best to you.
Best regards
Birgit

Christy hi
I heard an interview this morning about that infamous family from Meath/Roscommon/Mayo known now as the Gallagher brothers and the furore they create in reunion.
Anyway the eldest , Paul, had recounted a tale of a visit to Knock and described it as ‘an Aldi version of Lourdes’…..not sure if Father Horan would have been impressed with the description……even if it’s runway is 18,000 feet.
