Thanks for taking the time to reply to my initial post….for once I’m lost for words…(some might say that’s a miracle)….anyway thought I’d share this speech from a recent event in Glasgow. https://youtu.be/d7cwMj43EN4
Ps..@ John Liverpool you’re correct with your mystic prediction, however, I’ve not been frantically changing my bank card details, as I’d like to think as good guys are smarter than “the average bear” 😉
Rick and I are looking forward to the concert in Galway Saturday. Tomorrow is the last day of the Wild atlantic music tour with Bula Buzz (Colm phelan and Robbie Walsh) and 20+ bodhran players. We are playing at the Cliffs in the afternoon. I’m a novice but it’s been fun.
Táim ar ais arís Christy agus mé díreach tar éis leagan iomlán Gaeilge de m’iarratas a fháil ó Loch Garman siar i mí Aibreáin. “Na Conghailigh” ó Éist! Ní raibh mé riamh chomh sásta.
Don chéad gig nó albam eile, sin é an t-iarratas 😀
(I am back again Christy as I’ve just found a full Irish version of my request from Wexford back in April. Na Conghailigh from Éist! I have never been so happy.
For the next gig or album, that will be the request :D)
Hi Christy, Mystic Meg here, I have had a gaze into my crystal ball and I predict that our newbie, 1888, might be a Celtic supporter. Puts me in mind of the very funny scene from Trainspotting 2 where Renton & Sick Boy steal all the wallets from a Loyalist Social Club, go to a cash machine and they have all useed 1690 (Battle of the Boyne) as their PIN number.
Hi Christy.. came across a photo this morning of you on The Marian Finucane (RIP) Show on this day in 2015, performing Mick Blakes, “Oblivious”. I think of that line ‘squandered by scoundrels and fools..’ – between printers and bike sheds, some things never change.. Catch you soon!
Christy's reply
Marian Finucane…still miss her unique voice, her warmth and welcoming radio skill…Marian could not be fobbed off, she was always prepared to ask the important question
Hello Christy,
A punk version?
You’re making me think of a reggae version of “As the deer pants for the water” that I did at St John’s at Rastrick many moons ago.
Some of the congregation cried, and not in a good way. The vicar was mortified.
We’d have been better in the pub.
Hi Christy.
Firstly welcome aboard to my mate Scott.
As is becoming an annoying norm i find myself awake in the wee small hours but am trying something new to find John O’ Dreams.
Radio 4 has a programme on ‘sounds’ called ‘the sleeping forecast’ which is a mix of light kind of classical music interspersed with excerpts of the Shipping Forecast, it sounds good and might work……if only the child of Prague would stop dancing across the mantlepiece.

Christy hi
I feel like playing loudly ‘ no time for love’ having today punched the car ceiling and whooping out loud at the radio news of the Inquiry being approved into the murder of lawyer Pat Finucane.
An incredible song.

Pat came to many the gig way back in the day..always a welcoming smile….I hope this day brings some small comfort to the Finucane Family
Hello All, I’ve been doing some journaling so i’ll give you the weekends..
—
1am saw a small gathering of what was a trad band, a bodhran, the fiddle, a tin whistle, a guitar and a community of singers. “give the young lad the guitar” was repeated 3 times that night, I played jack doyle, fields of athenry, brown eyes.. plenty of tunes including the local tunes that never leave the parish. I gave the man the guitar back when i cut my finger after getting overly enthusiastic and i apologized however I was met with a round of applause, many handshakes and a few pints of stout. I’ll call it my first performance outside the family household.
—
Might i also just wish the best of recoveries for Dearbhla.
Christy's reply
good stuff Matty…. you bring me right back to days of yore….the excitement of those early youthful sessions….back in ’63 I used to do a punk version of “Mary from Dungloe” that garnered manys the pint of loose porter
In from rain, planning my day….coffee in the city art gallery cafe…complimented staff on the brew and music playing….laptop and great speakers to hand, they asked if I had music requests…as I thought, they’d never heard of Richard Thompson, but ‘Vincent Black Lightning ‘ was ace and went down well with the cafe crew
A young lad, well up for the crack has now been busy….
I asked him to play ‘ anything by Christy Moore’…he peered at the screen, grinned and said…
‘Is Ride On Alright’?!!!!
Perfect…and the sun is shining…
Back in.
I saw lines earlier, C there’s lines you put and I thought, I’ve to remember these lines on those Ballisodare Fesitivals that ‘burnt brightly through distant summers.’ Ah, there’s lyricism C, you’re a wordsmith. Those festivals did so back then.
Thanks R, and the very best of luck to you, Derbhla.
(I think my head is suffering ‘password fatigue.’)

it lightens the load to read that someone else suffers “password fatigue”….its one of numerous banes that encroach upon the ever decreasing possibilities of maintaining some peace of mind…others include (contd Page 94)
Hello Christy,
Well, I seem to have got into a bit of a routine with the practising. Harp, humming, singing (as soon as the covid cough buggers off) then guitar, strumming chords I know so I don’t forget them. I’m working on Smoke and Strong Whiskey (easy chords, slow changes) most of the time now I’m spending on finger picking. The callouses are getting pretty magnificent! I’m half way through the book. 3 fingers going pretty well. The other day I decided to turn the page before I was ready. It’s about to add in the fourth finger. That’s going to boggle my brain! I closed the page again very quickly…
Hugs to all here.

All good wishes to Dearbhla and family…I hope all goes well.
Fair play to Charlie…chip and old block come to mind….good on them.
Interesting when generations combine via music. Carthy/Waterson flying and Romany Gilmour adding some lovely vocals on her dad’s (David) latest LP….added bonus of John McCusker’s tasty fiddle on one song as well.
And,eagerly awaited….your forthcoming LP with Andy’s harmonies…I still visit the lockdown sessions.Brilliant music and chat. A real boost in those dark days…
Hi Christy,
Unfortunately we will miss your gigs in Armagh and the Carrickdale this year. I was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 31st May and had it removed 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I’m doing well but have limited mobility in my left side which means I have a walking aid for the next while. Míceál is disappointed that we won’t get to see you but it’s too soon after the operation and I’ve lost a lot of my hair so i don’t like to draw attention to us! We’ll be there next year with bells on, and in the meantime I’ll try to get us to a gig sometime after Christmas. It’ll be weird not to be there after so many years but try to muddle through without us! Jarlath sends his regards.
Love, Dearbhla.

wishing you a full recovery..I look forward to seeing you and the lad in the near future
Christy, is there a potential venue in Ireland which you haven’t played in which you would like to ?
I read your programme & the comments from all aboard here & the thought just struck me..
Or is there a place/places in Ireland which you’ve not revisited for a heck of a long time…?
