It was special to feel the atmosphere of peace and spirituality that flowed from the stage in the Venue today in a town that has known such heartache down the years . We felt privileged to have been present . Both of the songs you sang filled the room and it was great to see HIs Holiness listening so intently to “How Long”.
Lovely atmosphere in Derry today Christy – and you added to that. But today it was about a quietly spoken gentle man of humour, compassion and respect. A simple message, but not always so simple to practice. I guess we should make him an honorary 4711er. Good to see him give you a Lilies scarf at the end – maybe Geezer will be wearing it in Croke Park in September. An all round beautiful day.

Hi Christy, Wonderful occasion and experience earlier today in Derry. It was an honour and privillige to see and hear his Holiness speak. Love, compassion, tolerance, forgivness and understanding with the all important sense of humour thrown in. Some man for one man !! Enjoyed all the other speakets and performers as well, great to see all the kids take part. The vibe both n and out of “The Venue” was very laid back and relaxed . Delighted to see you getting a gift from his Holiness…well deserved. Nice to see a few 4711ers as well today…. Good Luck in the morning with your fellow Kildare man Ray Darcy….will be listening in….Love & Respect Martin Mac
Christy's reply
I have never witnessed anything before like what I saw today…to see this exiled Spiritual Leader, to hear his words, to watch his compassion, to sing for Him and his comrades, all this was such honour and priviledge…I thank Richard Moore and all at “Children in Crossfire” for making this possible
We are waiting for the swallows to get to the Hills , I hear from a very reliable source that they have arrived in the Kingdom…..maybe they will follow ye all to the NorthWest . Looking forward to the day in Derry with yourself and the Dalai Lama now.

The Dalai Lama and Richard Moore ( The Derry Lama) brought Sunshine to Lough Foyle today….a life changing experience
Hi Christy, had a brief conversation with you after the show at UCLA in the late 80’s(awsome night… great chance to hear one of Ireland’s all time greats, I’ll never be able to say I heard Luke Kelly live but I can say I heard Christy Moore) God bless you… I hope one day I’ll make it to Ireland to play Old time Delta Gospel music for the folks there, my grandmother Eileen Ryan was born in Swinford. Anyway, your songs have a real relevance here in Fullerton Cali since the beating death of Kelly Thomas(disturbing video on youtube) so I sing them whenever I get the opportunity. Slainte
Christy's reply
It has been distressing to watch the murder of this unfortunate man, but I thank you for drawing our attention to the unwarranted violent actions of these “so called” Police Officers. We will watch with great interest to see how their criminal behaviour is treated. Let us remember the death of Kelly Thomas.
Hi Christy, Hope alls good. Ref: Anuk .. Looking forward to Liverpool and the Rogan Josh, Can’t beat an ould Ruby Murray and a bit of Christy of a night ! Tickets on sale tomorrow for that one…. Roll on Derry first though and his Holiness. Love & Respect Martin Mac

Christy! What you doing to us?! Now Liverpool beckons. I love that city. Many a tear shed there. I have warned the little beggars to fend for themselves that weekend. Fend away I’m sure they will. Saturday night we took to Trafalgar Square with banners to give the old bird our own type of particular send off. I just didn’t want the girleens to forget something they are too young to remember. I don’t know what they made of it. Wondering how the old ones let the world get like this. Anyway Paddy’s Wigwam awaits, Marty Mac, (I owe that fella a rogan josh), and whatever your good selves can muster. Xx
Christy's reply
they will be well pleased to have a free gaff for the night while you’re up on Merseyside quaffin barley wines with Donegal Democrats,
Thanks for mentioning the Connemara Cradle Song, Christy – can’t get it out of my head now. It is beautiful though. Hope all is going well with the recording/editing/artwork etc and excited in anticipation of the fruits of that project. Safe travelling to the old barrack square on Thursday to meet the Dalai Lama – we will all be honoured to be there. Just don’t be stepping in an officer’s mess again 🙂
Hi All. Yes Mark Nixon took photos for Hot Press and were published to accompany the public interview CM gave as part of the The HP Music Show in the RDS, it seems the photos were taken in Clontarf in Feb 2010 and appeared in the March edition… would n’t you think that what happens on photo shoot stays on photo shoots ?? Best of luck on Thurs with HHDL I ‘m sure it will be special ….here is Luka’s tribute http://youtu.be/paNlwp7nPg4 Beir bua. H
Christy's reply
in fairness to Mark he was writing a “chat’ and describing what was a grand visit…my self and Michael D had a grand hour in Clontarf with strong tea and good vibrations…just getting myself into The Zone for Abington..greetings to all Kingdom songsters…tell Mikey Sheehy I was askin for him
I’m just wondering, have you ever had a support act to play a few songs on stage before you?
Also would you ever consider doing a song with someone unknown?… I’m totally rubbish at explaining things so I thought i’d just ask these questions I have.. which you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. (As you never know if you don’t ask)
I still have my Jacket 🙂 I want to get it framed along with the postcard! I’t just finding the perfect frame and putting my trust in someone to frame it for me! 🙂
Anyway, How are you? 🙂
I hope everything is okay!

Hi Christy,
I am a third year student at the University of Hertfordshire studying BA Hons TV & Film (Documentary). For my final year film I am making a documentary about an ex British soldier who served in Northern Ireland in the 90’s who now suffers with post traumatic stress disorder. In order to create the ‘feel’ of Ireland we have put together a montage of news clips from the time but I also need around 20 seconds of Irish music. After much research I have come across the song “Taimse Im’ Chodladh” which was obviously recorded by yourself and the other members of Planxty. I am writing to you to ask for your permission to use the song in my film.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Joe Price
