Hello Christy,
Such a busy time for you. I hope you’re riding the wave and have a great view from up there. We’re all cheering you on.
To Pat. I wish I could take away your pain.
I was 13 when Ann Lovett died. I don’t remember it being on the news here. I was first introduced to her by Christy’s heart rending song, The middle of the Island.
Since then I’ve tried to find out more. I read your anguish and felt some of it with you.
For me, the new song helps me understand more about her. About How’s he was a real, rounded person, not just a note in history. I’m not going to apologise for what the new song has done for me. My feelings and thoughts are as real and relevant as yours. And anyway, Christy has told me to stop apologising when it’s unnecessary.
So I’m back where I started. I wrote honestly about what I think and feel and that remains.
I wish I could take away your pain.
Rebecca

I prefer it down here. I go “up there” once a week for 100 minutes…do what I do and get back down to the safety of here….
so far the new album is being well received….this is uplifting for all concerned of whom there are so many…songwriters, musicians, engineers, our crew collective, all at the record company, and now the interviewers, journalists and all their back up colleagues…when all the brouhaha fades some of the songs may remain..to be sung, learned, reinterpreted,
I love those songs that long outlive any memory of those who wrote them…Lord Baker, Little Musgrave, Green Grows The Laurel, The Well Below The Valley, The Raggle Taggle…..longevity bestows a nobility upon them
Christy thank you, not for the new album, my LP has yet to arrive from Claddagh, and i’d prefer my first listen to be from my turntable, but for Viva la Quinta Brigada last night.
I posted a few weeks ago about a piece in the Morning Star on the heroes who joined the 15th from Hartlepool. I had forgotten that then you said it would be played.
You are a man of truth and love against the force of evil. Well played.
Thank you
Rory

getting to sing Viva la Quinte Brigada on TV last night was a (broadcasting) highlight of my working life…it was not part of the original running order , Fair Play to Patrick Keilty
Over the decades,I’d say I’ve seen more references to ‘The Voyage’ as a ‘special occasion’/ request song, than any others in your repertoire…After a few plays,I’m backing ‘Boy in the wild’ to do similar…such powerful writing by Wally -you and Andy in perfect sync…very powerful…and to this listener’s ears…special.
Enjoy gig day

Johnny Duhan’s “The Voyage” has sailed around the world and back again
Oh Christy,
There’s two Friday nights in a row now you’ve made me and my family so happy!!
Such a beautiful interview with Paddy. I loved the little touches like the rug at your feet, the little bursts of song and your mutual appreciation and affection for each other.
It never ceases to amaze me how little you take for granted and your gratitude that you still have the interest of the audience.
An experience well worth waiting up for.
Go raibh maith agat,

Howrya Christy…
Great performance on the late late show just now. Paddy K adores you, that much is clear…
I sent you a song I wrote for you via crossroadsmusic email. “in the stillness of the night”…. I didnt know any other way to get it across, as I’m not that techy minded.
I hope it found it’s way and you enjoyed. God bless, stay well..
Best regards
JJ

there has been a great raft of songs arriving of late..it will take a while to hear them all
We’re bringing our mum and dad, Mary and Eamon, to your show tomorrow as a surprise and can’t wait! Your music has been the soundtrack to many of the best long drives, holidays and celebrations. Mum and dad always particularly love The Voyage and play it every anniversary. If you happen to be considering it for the setlist on Saturday it definitely would make their night!
Thanks for the music,
Sarah and Claire

lets see what happens S& C… I hope ye have a good night
Yes Rebecca, Christy has that magic ability to hold up events and happenings to the public gaze, strip them of all pretence, and expose the hypocrisy, the sham, the self adulation, the rawness of reality.
I remember Ann Lovett being found dead in a field, her dead baby beside her, the statue of Mary bringing no solace. I remember her sister’s suicide, her boyfriend’s anguish, the sanctimonious prick with the red hat in Armagh blaming Ann’s lack of maturity….a 15 year old pregnant schoolgirl….how dare she be so immature, how dare she hold up a mirror to our society.
Sorry, I cannot see Ann as
. ” a red blooded loving living creature for me.”, as you can.
I see her as a poor dead wee girl, a victim of our society.
I am glad Christy’s songs bring the story around the world, though I am not sure the tragedy has improved humanity one iota.
