I went to North London on Tuesday after work. You may say ‘what of it’ . I heard notes on a guitar I never heard before and harmonies I only thought I heard when choirs were amassed. Declan and Vicky were able to conjure pure magic. The room was hot the sound was perfect. I forgot I was in North London for an evening, I forgot my feet were hurting. I am glad indeed to have been there. Xx

I was talking to himself today and he said he had a good time in Londing..hope your feet are on the mend

Evening sir and hope this finds you well. Just back from a long weekend in Derry and Donegal and got into conversation with my brother in law who has met you in past times in Derry. He said you might remember him. He was with Bertie Barrett at his gaff across the road from the famous 720 in Chamberlain Street. His name is Danny Mc Daid. Quite a large man on crutches as he is missing his left pin. Ring a bell sir?
Christy's reply
pardon me officer but the dong is wore out on me bell

there is a page at the sister site 4711ers.org where songs and poems are sometimes posted… “working the magic” is the elusive element…I have no idea what it is …where it comes from…how it works…it is a wonderful mystery..it dont flow from no tap
Christy I’m working on a book about all the songs of the old factions – Caravats & Shanavests, etc. Dozens of the jigs and reels are still around and being played but the origins of many of the songs have been obscured by a fear of all the Paddy Whackery stereotypes. Would you be interested in reading it when it’s done? Some of the songs (with words) are absolutely beautiful and it’s another part of our history that’s very compelling and yet almost totally forgotten.
Thanks for keeping the flag unfurled all these years. Your music is modern Filideacht and has helped me through many a dark night.
Sincerely,
John

I’m not a great reader of books….have a room full of unfinished book that I hope to get back to when all the songs are sung…I would be happy to receive your book…the songbooks always get read first…thanks for listening….”Mile 59 had to be on time for the Railway Line”

Hi Mr Moore, I run The Pack Horse Inn in Birtle,Bury Lancashire and some of my customers tell me that you used to visit. Is this true?
If so any chance you will be back in the Manchester area so that I could arrange for them to come and hear you again as a surprise. If not going to be over here is there somewhere I could get a signed photo to put up in the pub for them.
Sorry if this is an inconvienience

Carol
Christy's reply
That is very true.I will be back at The Bridgewater next April if all goes according to plan
Hello Christy, hope all is well with you. When will you ever, ever come back to Brighton? We know there’s the odd March for England crap, but they had no chance at the weekend. Tallulah would love to come and see you again, she saw Jake Bugg recently at the Dome and was reminiscing about seeing you there, too. By the time you come back, Noah will be old enough to come and see you, too! Please. Be well, Helen, Manuel, Tallulah and Noah
Christy's reply
its been far too long..its really a matter for the backroom boys and girls…I’m only the singer here !!…I will have to get on to them and tell them that Brighton must be covered…they tend to stick to the bigger cities. Also I am limited to shorter tours these days as the hens fret if I stay away too long and they refuse to lay. Love to Tallulah and all the family
Dear Mister Moore,
Recently we booked tickets for your concert in Ballinasloe.
Since you are not coming to Amsterdam, Carre this year we will be coming to you!
We are fan of your music since 2002, when we heared “The Voyage” at the wedding of our Galway friend (who lives in Holland). We have been to 3 of your concerts in Amsterdam, Carre since then and every year when we visit Ireland we buy one of your albums.
Now, this year is our wedding anniversary and we will be spending a short week in Ireland and noticing the announcement of your concert in Ballinasloe it feld so good to book the tickets. It would really mean a lot to us if you could sing “The Voyage”!
With kind regards, Betty and Stef Splint.
Christy's reply
It will be a pleasure to sing for you in dear old Ballinasloe…….”Queen Beatrix she rides her bike. Rembrandt is hangin down in The Reijk. Ajax Heineken, Van Gogh, The gargle and the ganja.Monday Morning we were all half cracked, we dived into the Kaisergracht, they fished us out, hosed us down, put us on the plane to Dublin….home to the Mammy again.. O The Weekend that we spent in Amsterdam”

¡hola Críostóir, hope all is well with you? Seems like only a few weeks ago that you were rocking the place in Vicar St at Xmas, beeswing was unreal that night.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday 27th in Vicar St. Have been listening to some of the “older” stuff lately and 90 Miles to Dublin is a brilliant song.
Bad day at the office for Kildare in the U21 semi-final.
Keep her lit Christy, maith an fear!

OK Steve..lets see if we can rattle Vicar Street up next Saturday Night..a bit of Folk Trance…some Bog Reggae…a few Kildare Raps… maybe try try a bit of Culchie Cool …we’re gonna have some box music from way out west….some strings from Pomeroy ….a cool customer from Queen Maeve’s boudoir and a Rhythm Prince to brush the blues away
Hi Christy,
Hope your health is good. I love the songs and energy you put into it all. I just caught up with a bargain priced “Christy at Vicar St.” The special one for me and for your audience was “Metropolitan Avenue”, as I first became addicted in 1987, when I was walking around Ballybunion taking in the good vibes of “Suffocate” and that kelp sold in a little traw shack.x
Christy's reply
You picked two songs there composed recorded, mixed and mastered by the whizz kid himself, the wonderful Noel Brazil..sadly no longer with us having moved on far too soon…he left us some wonderful songs….” Paddy maintains we’re all yellow inside”…..” “come out of the Celtic Twilight kids, join the bums down here on the bank, we’re all havin a rare auld time, put another drop a juice in the tank”… ” O The State of Us”
Wow! What a great interview with Ray Darcy. I am just listening to the podcast now. Wonderful that the songs were included. A thoroughly enjoyable hour. Thanks!
Christy's reply
he is an easy man to sit with…so relaxed I almost forgot that there was an audience..
Hi Christy. I really enjoyed your interview with Ray D’Arcy yesterday. I really like the new song “Arthur’s Day” too. A clear message powerfully put. As Ray indicated there’ll be people moaning along the lines of “Sure he liked their products well enough in his day”. That’s not the point though. You can like their drink (like I do) but you don’t have to like how they market it. If you come back to Vicar St in December then there’s a very good chance my brothers and I will be back to see you. Good luck, Ciaran.

Good timing, chatting with the Brophy lad from Spink, he pointed me to the podcast on line : http://www.todayfm.com/Shows/Weekdays/Ray-DArcy-Show/Podcasts.aspx
Follow from there…. in two parts
Thanks to Maryline in Chile and Young Brophy in Spink Co.Laois…thats the link for anyone interested in the radio chat with Ray Darcy on Today FM…we had a grand hour reflecting on life in the shortgrass, on the road, Ray a DJ and me a balladeer…lots of people sent in messages of goodwill, Johnny Doyle is going to take me up the tower on the Hill of Allen
I have been writing songs for the past 3 years and I have loved music my whole life. I jam with a pro guitarist every Saturday. I would like to send you on a song I wrote. I know you have recorded other people’s songs in the past like Hiroshima-Nagasaki Russian Roulette written by Trad/ Folk artist and anti-nuclear campaigner Jim Page from Washington DC. Anyway if you would like me to send you the song then I can be reached at davidiclarke@yahoo.ie. I know you are inundated with these kind of requests but if you could just have a quick listen that’d be great.
Best wishes

Hi Christy, great interview on Today FM earlier on today. It was not unlike yesterday insofar as it had that “Feel Good Factor” about it. I enjoy Ray Darcy and would listen to him most mornings in the car, I think he’s a really witty guy who brings out the best in the people he talks to. The two of you bounced off one another very well. I coud tell from the interview that he had huge respect for you and your work. After Ruby and yourself he’s probably the most famous Kildare man around at the moment. Thanks for doing “Arthurs Day” it brought a wry smile to my face.I agree entirely with your sentiments – Diageo and the like are constantly grooming our young people through strategic advertising to become the next generation of problematic drinkers. “Drink Responsibility” my hole if you pardon the expression. It’s all about profit margins, people don’t matter – they necer did. It is also quite apparent to me that the power and influence of the drinks industry reaches well and truly beyond the threshold of Dail Eireann. I was devastated to see Roisin Shorthall bullied out of office recently, she was making all the right noises around the whole area of minimum pricing, advertising and availability – sadly I think that was a major part of her downfall. The drinks industry still take no responsibility or offer any significant support for the many who cross over that line into active addiction, I would like to see that change, I believe the goverment should impose a levy on these companies and make in their social responsibility to fund treatment and rehabilitation programs and to fund educational programs which would offer a more balanced take on alcohol and its potential dangers – I won’t be holding my breath on that one Christy. It can be very frustrating at times, particularly when your picking up the pieces. Anyway thats my rant over and sorry for hogging the guestbook. Love & Respect Martin Mac

Any chance of you coming to Florida?
I had tickets for your brother’s gig here in June but alas he had to cancel.
