Back at base and feeling the power of a great night in Vicar St. A great selection of songs and a wonderful job by David Meade on sound. I know you’ve mentioned it here in the past about his ability to capture your sounds, and it was noticeable last night. The subtle reverb and volume tweaks add to the magic. Good health to you and all of the hard working crew for the coming days until it’s time for take off again..

You mentioned doing a bit of collecting and gathering for a new project? Christy I have a great idea or three for you.
I am stealing the idea from Adele, who, apart from a wee spot of bother with the Brazilians, has finished a long Las Vegas residency, and now she has told us about her new project:
“To commemorate the ending of my residency in Las Vegas, I’m making a limited edition vinyl box set featuring the entire live setlist, a photo book, and even confetti from the show.”
So there you go fella, a limited edition box set of the entire Vicar Street ’24 live setlist, with photos of the new T-shirt, and if there is any confetti around, or maybe Christmas streamers….
And guess what? Adele is selling hers for €340,- a set. I’m reckon you could go to……knowing you you’d sell it for about a tenner or so….
And then follow up with a Barrolands live box set. Wouldn’t that be fun.
Have a grand night tonight, the last of
2024…….I bet it’ll be a ( Christmas) cracker!
Christy's reply
One more to go in 2024….
£340 a box….sounds like a bargain..(in Vegas)

Hello Christy,
Thankyou for your wish for my guitar. It worked! It fits me! I’m so lucky it’s all ok. Stupid way to buy it but I’ve got away with it this time.
It arrived here yesterday lunchtime. It’s not a vintage guitar but it’s based on the J45 50s model. So it’s new.
It has a lovely big body, black, shiny, very light with a pickguard that’s very dark red, nearly black. It has resonance in spades, I’m loving the clear sweet noise it makes. It’s sensitive for fingerpicking, that’s what I’m contracting on at the moment. It’s going to take a heavier pick than I’m used to for strumming. There’s some power in there.
The neck is fine, very comfy and the whole thing fits me much better than the Taylor. It’s the neck I was really worried about, so im very relieved!
It’s kind of weird, I thought I might be aware of the name and pedigree when playing it, but it’s not like that at all. It just feels good. Very friendly and kind. I think I love it. Not felt like this with an instrument before. So… weird and good.
Off to Vicar Street tomorrow night (18th Dec) with my partner Helen. Very excited to see you in the flesh at long last- we’d love to hear Bright Blue Rose if you fancied playing it, as it’s a very special song for herself and the family.
Cheers,
Dave.

A very special song for all who love Jimmy MacCarthy’s beautiful composition….it has been a great privilidge to sing his song….

Hello Christy,
Thankyou for the address of Hamish’s cafe. We’re going to get over there as soon as we can. The menu looks great. The veggie breakfast sounds fab and it’s only an hour and 9 minutes from here.
It was a bit of a day yesterday.
I did something…
on Sunday night I watched your Life on the Road documentary. I noticed Declan playing a beautiful sounding guitar in one of yhe gigs. I’m hoping some of the sound came from the guitar and not just him because I tracked it down. There’s a really similar one on its way here right now.
I know you said to try them all out and that was such good advice, but… there it was shining and beckoning to me.
It’s a Gibson J45, black, shiny,,50s version.
I so hope I haven’t done something really stupid! This is likely to be brilliant or a disaster. I need lots of luck so my left hand will be the right size for it… oh dear. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Hello, dear Christy…
A long time again since i wrote to you last..
I must still tell you, that I am happy to have received the song list, at that
lovely gig at Vicar Street. It is nicely framed, and it found a prominent
place in my study. Yes, what a special gift, thanks again a lot for all the good things !
Today I booked the hotel rooms in Cork!!!
And I received three invitations to join a Christy Moore on facebook recently..
But you are informed of that scam already, I just read.
Dear Christy, now I want to wish you and your family a wonderful, blessed
Christmastime , a great start into 2025.
I just listen to one of my favourite songs of your amazing repertoire :’ So do I ‘..
Perfect for a cold winters night…Dreaming of bloomig chestnut trees…Thanks..

We’ll have to get a photo of Christy in his new black T-shirt!
Christy, ’twill be a great way altogether to sing in the new year. Unfortunately Ned’s young fella Barry can’t make it, but my sister Noleen will be coming along. We have decided to team up with you and your choir in memory of our bigger sister Majella who passed away last Christmas. We thought there could be no better First Anniversary celebration for her wonderful life and battle than a Vicar Street Christy gig! And we will let the music keep our spirits high!

Great to see the songs from A Terrible Beauty
fitting in so well. The new has not worn off.
You once said that when an album is
recorded it goes up on the shelf and you look
forward to the next one. But it must be something
that so many from A Terrible Beauty have so easily
joined the repertoire. There were nine in that list.
I think it’s your best ever and that’s some going.
Mesel and Mrs B will be up in January for the last
of the Vicar St. run and are looking forward to that.
The powers that be have crossed The Shannon and
added gigs in Mayo for the new year. Maybe come
September you’ll come further West along the road.
