Home…a great day in Liverpool.didnt see the Mersey…one false step and I’ve been airborne on the hurricane gusts.
Met the family on a street full of bars…as I waited outside c 11 30 am,Dylan’s ”Like a rolling stone’ sounded as spicy as ever….next door blasted a funky version of ‘Ride On’…a great welcome!
Mulling over a day of good chat,I’m playing the yellow disc…thinking back to Mary Manning’s heroics and the wonderful description of shop management in panic…the ‘avalanche of suits’ is brilliant imagery…

Hi Christy,
We got to see Mary Coughlan on Friday.
She was in fine form. Fine voice too.
She tore through forty years of back pages.
Left a few out. Added a few new ones.
Anyways time to wish all who sail on the
good ship Guestbook A Very Merry Christmas
and A Happy New Year. Let’s hope it’s a good un…

An ordinary morning,in an early meeting…came out for a cuppa.A colleague with no subtlety or awareness of my affection for The Beatles era, bluntly said…
Bad about John Lennon…
What’s he done now? I said…
He’s dead…someone shot him…
I didn’t do a tap for the rest of the day and devoured news and tributes for days that followed…D
Sunday before christmas. Nearly everything’s ready for the family to come. Starting the day with ‘Graffity Tongue’.
Dear Christy, I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas time. Enjoy the short break.
Good luck for continuing the Vicar gigs later on.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all kind people around here.
Günter
Dear Christy I hope you and yours are well and looking forward to seasonal happenings.
In the passing of time I have managed to lose the box set. So I downloaded it for my sins from Amazon Prime. The notes on prime state that you ‘busked the streets of London’. Is that right? If you did indeed where was your ‘pitch’? If you didn’t I guess history can be fictional.
Keep well it’s blowing a gale.
Christy's reply

I had no London Busking songs

Hi christy..long time no check in.. I see your flying it. If your doing another cd . You might give my originals a listen . I need a kick in the ass to get me writing again. Tks mk
Dear Christy, I would like to buy the Lily cd. Is that still possible?
I don’t know how I could have missed this one back then. I discovered that among others the gardener is on it.
It would make me happy if I could get it, makes the weather less rainy.
Hello Christy,
Happy Solstice yo you and all here.
There’s a wonderful feeling being able to watch the sun rise into New Grange during these few mornings, from so far away.
There was a bank of cloud and sun this morning. Wonder what will happen in the coming days.

The Salvation Army are something of a beacon at this time of year. I am taking my 2 grandaughters into the SA shop in about 30mins time to get some 2nd hand mr men and little miss books for them to read this weekend, which i spotted yesterday.
Christmas music….Shane’s ‘Christmas Lullaby’ with the Popes must be near the top of the tree.

In a local shopping area recently, the Sally Army brass band were hitting some sweet notes. Harmonies between instruments were fab…no idea how they do it.
Just remembered and will play it soon…Richard and Linda Thompson…’I want to see the bright lights tonight’…with brass band.It works brilliantly…I can feel an RT day coming on…
Have a good day . .Winter Solstice…if Newgrange is as gloomy as it is here, local cafes and pubs will be packed with breakfast punters!
Hi C. Thanks to you and all the crew at Vicar St for such a wonderful run of gigs, so far, each unique, it really is a very special venue. I know you have taken a great interest in the singing of both Roisin and Colm Seoighe from Connemara for several years. On Weds the Kildare man Ray D Arcy had a very special Christmas performance live in studio on RTE Radio 1 with the Orchestra. Roisin performed and she was magical & powerful. Here is the link for anyone with who may care to hear some great performances from Irish artists, Roisin is at about the 32 minute mark. https://www.rte.ie/radio/radio1/ray/2024/1218/1487255-the-ray-darcy-show-wednesday-18-december-2024//

Well said about Hot Press….on arrival in Ireland for 80s and 90s family holidays, the latest edition was always snaffled on the first shopping trip…along with Taytos and real chocolate…
Two contrasting instances of the power of the human voice this week. Firstly, thanks for the info about the recording of ‘keening’ with ‘On a single day’. There are some fascinating online pieces about the tradition.
Secondly,a heartening burst of song on a wet, windy morning…about 10 00 I was being blown past a small theatre. Coaches were decanting a mob of young school kids, excited for a Christmas play starting soon…teachers wrangled the kids into a raggedy line, just as a few likely lads at the front launched into the saga of ‘Rudolph the red…’ quickly, the whole mob joined in with great enthusiasm…it was a magic sound and raised the spirits as I dried off in the first sanctuary cafe I found.
All the best for the festive season…to you, family, crew and fellow travellers here.

Early musings from tempest land…soon to get a Liverpool train for a catch up with family visiting the city.
Thinking of early Beatles days and impact. Fab times, enduring, ground breaking sounds…genius,George Martin…
Last week,Macca and band scored 5 star reviews at local arena gigs. Fair play…
Today,I’ll raise a cuppa to the lads and remember John Lennon. Here for only 40 years, now gone for 44…RIP
