That should say for anyone not lucky enough to scoop tickets for Vicar St.. perhaps Rob’s songs will be reverberating around Dublin simultaneously..

Hello Christy,
Hope all here had a good day yesterday. We were just the two of us here. It’s been a bit of a year and we decided to have a quiet one. So I played while Steve cooked, it seems to be the natural order of things in this house.
Do you play along to things on the tv?
I played along to the first three numbers in the Kenneth Brannagh film, Death on the Nile. G major, E minor, D. First time for me!
I’ll be doing it again.
Lots of talking and listening as the films rolled on.
Stargate
Revenge of the pink Panther, the one with salty svedish see derg with blow up parrot.
Wallace and Gromit
Finished the day off with a chocolate orange. It was a good day.
Wishing us all peace and hope for 2025. You never know…
Rebecca

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all your family, Christy. Thank you for a year of amazing concerts and for the excellent new album, indeed for everything that you give us.
And thank you to you and all contributors for so many interesting and illuminating guest book posts.
Hope you and your family have a peaceful Christmas and hope the new year brings a little more peace to this turbulent world we live in.
I have been singing the Kerry Christmas Carol this past week. Another of Sigursan Cliffords balads. And I’ve resurrected O Holy Night, another of my favourites.
Stay safe and well and hope to see you in the next year.
No wise men came bearing gifts
Instead the order came to shift
The winter sky was hung with stars
And one shone brighter than the rest
The wise men came so stern and strict
And brought the order to evict
Hi Christy/all
A Terrible Beauty sounded brilliant tonight, through headphones on a few spins…
Then YouTube to appreciate the video that goes with Fairytale of New York…
For me,the Christmas song that never fails to hit the emotions…the rise in music and Kirsty’s first line ‘get’ me every time – tragic that she’s been gone so long…RIP Kirsty and Shane…
Sleep well all …at least, fake a few zzzzzzzs in case no presents are left! Bedtime here…Arthur McBride’s a bugger for an early start on Christmas morning…
Hi Christy, Merry Christmas to you. I’ve a beauty of a Christmas song for you that you might not know of called ‘Snowflakes Fall’ by James Cramer and Eleanor Mc Evoy, James who wrote the gorgeous Lyra McKee song on your new album, it got a decent bit of play when it was released on RTE but I thought it should of really been a modern Christmas hit. Looking forward to Vicar St at the end of the month.
Heres to all the little kids
Who haven’t got no clothes
Heres to all the little kids
Who haven’t got no homes
It’s Christmas time in Palestine
It’s Christmas in Beirut
They’re scrapping ’round for rice
Not for tutti fruits
And the Christmas lights, they blew up
Now the ‘lecky’s all gone dead
I look like a coal miner
And I’ve a pain inside my head….a Christmas lullaby
Shane
Hello Christy,
Just woken up and it feels like a day for gratitude today. I’ve got claws on one hand, hard tips on the other and a guitar waiting downstairs for me. I’ll be at it soon. Wishing you and all here the very best of times. Happiness, contentment and joy. https://youtu.be/tNrKZ0WGd5M?si=afHnubt9opWs5TuI
That tea sounds like something a coffee drinker would make.
My first attempt at the Moore patent home brew tea mix…just about drinkable…(My botching, not your concoction),but I’ll stick with it…any tips on the grub to go with it?! D
I can almost hear Liam’s solo on ‘Immigrant…’ Over 50 years ago,the first time I saw Planxty was special…partly, the company I was in,partly because I was close to the ‘stage’ in a packed boozer, mainly, because I was close enough to admire you guys at work…and admire the wonderful sound.
I was familiar with the sound of Liam’s pipes, but watching him in action was riveting…that and his skilled control plus nuances….very, very special.
I’m starting the day with early John Martyn and a few plays of his sublime ‘Spencer the rover’ …there’s a mix set up for later.the nightcap will be ‘A Terrible Beauty’ ….fair play to you and the teams for such a gem this year.
