Hi Christy, remember I told you that my dad was on the way to the fureys concert on the 15th Feburary and he was knocked down and me and him were meant to go to your concert in march….dad got out of hospital yesterday and my sister suprised us last night with two tickets to your concert this saturday 4th may! He’s so delighted! If you could, could I make a request for you to sing viva la quinte brigada for him it would be great and we will be sitting in the wheelchair block! Just can’t wait to see you again! His names tony mccabrey! 🙂 thanks
Hi Christy,
Will you be playing Glasgow later this year?
Hope so.
Christy's reply
we hope to return in 11 months time…..an 18 month cycle has evolved over the years…there are many factors involved here mainly to do with guitar strings, oiling of creaking joints, servicing of vans and amplifiers, hair transplants, ego deflation, control of flatulance, wardrobe considerations, planting of potatoes and variation of repertoire….if all goes well Roberto we’ll sail up the Clyde next April. Armed to the teeth with fresh songs and riffs we will storm the stairs of Barrowland. Once more we’ll waltz beneath the carousel of healing in the arms of Mags McIvor
Hello there Christy. Can you give us a song for Spike and Diane Kerr (RIP Diane) on Friday night in Belfast.
All the best
Their very lucky son-in law
Liam
Christy's reply
Manys the happy hour I spent in Auld Reekie with Diane and, later, with Spike….We had happy times amid good company…I hear that you’re a handy man on that bouzouki
I have enjoyed your concerts in Barrowland very much, my best friend and colleague is writing a Barrowland Memories book which will be the forever standard for this grand old place and is trying to set up an interview with you, without great success, can you help?
Hello Christy, My wife and I are really looking forward to Friday night in Belfast. My second concert with you and Decky. The first being in the Nuremore recently. I have to say your music is a big part of my life now christy. My daughters know all the words also from my singing around the house. I know it’s only reserved for very special occasions but would you sing the ballad of little musgrave for us. It would make the night ” as bright as the summer sun” Its my favorite song. Thanks very much. Can’t wait for the show.
Christy's reply
if the wind is blowing in the right direction….it will be a pleasure……”I’d gladly give a hundred pound to be on yonder plain”
Hi christy, I’m in portugal on holiday at the minute but I’m flying home on Saturday to go to the gig in Belfast. Wouldn’t miss it for the world. Just wondering if its possible, could you give my son Diarmuid Scullion a mention. He’s 15 and I’m bringing him to the gig as a surprise. He’ll be over the moon with the surprise as he’s a big fan. There’s 6 of us going to the gig from Lurgan co Armagh. I would really appreciate it if you could give him a mention. I’m sure it’ll be another great night. Can’t wait !
Hi Christy,
Are you playing anywhere in Ireland end of July/start August 2013.
Hope to visit Ireland at that time.
Regards
Brendan
Christy's reply
Brendan….we always take our break at this time Paddy goes to The Boston Fleadh. Johnny do be at the hay in Rossnowlagh, Geoff at the light in Sandymount green,Mick with the Dubs on Hill 16, Davey at the mixer mixin songs, Dickon at the black & decker hammer and thongs, Declan on the road with The Grateful Dead while I do be at the ballads in the Brazen Head
Hi Christy, We are doing a project at the moment, recording 2 characters from cornafean, co.cavan, one of them a poet/singer called Sean masterson and the other a singer called Tommy Donohoe who has passed on, I know you were in Tommy’s house for a day collecting songs, and hearing lots of yarns i presume, many moons ago. Just wondering do you remember Tommy, and would you like to give us a quote for the inside cover of the CD. This is a community project, and more for preservation purposes, rather than making money. If you don’t remember Tommy or would rather say nothing, not to worry! You can send me a private email either. Thanks
Christy's reply
its 25 years since I made that visit…I was chasing a recitation called “The Bundle of Lies” my grandfather Jack Power used to recite it….someone told me that Tommy Donohoe might have more of it and I went in search…as I recall I got a great welcome, there was tea and brown cake, there was banter and songs…later that night I played a gig in Murtagh’s of Kingscourt…where the rhododendroms grow ( as t Eilish Farrelly once sang to my mother many years ago
Hi All…. That piece written by Drum Stig and read by you is very powerful,,, well done all… it was great to see 4,000 people voting with their feet to say STOP….H

Christy,
One of the most memorable days ever for me, my two boys and my parents in Avondale. Bitter sweet because my daughter wasn’t there but the magic that happened will help bring us back together. Thanks so much for your generosity and your amazing spirit. Enjoy your “50th”. Paul
Christy's reply
keep coming back Stig and thanks for sharing..have you a name for your piece ?
Dear Christy, sorry I could not make it to Rathdrum last sunday, you don,t know me from Adam…I am just a face in the crowd! first time was St Aidans School Hall in Whitehall in Dublin early seventies when Slade and Glitter were King of the day….but the Bothy Band, Scullion,Chieftans etc on my first official gig left a lasting impression, the pipes, fiddle whistle and bodhran had a rhythm and beat that stirred the Irishness in me and still does! I graduated to the Baggot and Moving Hearts and lately to Vicker Street to see yourself and Deco weave your magic……of late I thought I will probably not get to another session again for a while as you see I am lucky to have a job…..in the Public service, in a hospital, I am now officially one of Ireland’s Working Poor , I started as a Porter and worked in Theatre for a few years and I was lucky enough to meet the sickest of people, people with HIV,MRSA,C-DIFF,CANCER,HEPATITIS B and C, I was lucky enough to hold shattered limbs while the surgeon painted them with Bethadene before an operation,to fill my lungs with the smell of Gangrene on a Sunday morning after a few pints,to have walked the longest corridor at the dead of night in silence to the Mortuary with some poor soul……yeah us public servants! ” lucky to have a job” Christy I started to think you,re going to have to change the names of a few songs as fairly soon our Rivers won,t run free they will be privatised and Jockser may have to emigrate to Stuttgart and a song for Ireland will be a song for Deutschland, because this nation of Obedient shit-takers are letting it happen! There is a growing movement in this country called CAHWT campaign against the home and water tax going door to door raising awareness and listening to people,s plight….we are fighting back Christy! unlike the political machines of FF/FG/LP and Greens who can muster a war chest of €1.5 million for electoral campaign we are the opposite….in debt for posters and leaflets….we have’nt a pot to piss in! as Bertie said ” I could do with a dig out!” To fight this battle we need help and support from people like you Influential people who can raise the profile of our campaign…help us take back our country, I got to thinking F**K it I am writing to Christy and I am not taking any shit from him, if its going to be my last gig for a while then I want my money to go to this Campaign we will organise the venue and anything else you need! you just have to turn up! I never thought I would be writing a begging letter but there you go! Christy if you can’t do it its ok! maybe you might go door to door with me or address a public meeting or just endorse our campaign!…….now maybe its destiny but our paths have crossed in the strangest way…..in that hospital…..you asked for someone at the front desk….and they told you I was in Theatre! regards Christy from an extraordinary man let me know when you are available and I might even do a duet with ye!
Christy's reply
cannot undertake any further commitments at this time

Today is our last day under the reign of Queen Beatrix, after tomorrow King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will rule over us, not much will change, they can both ride their bikes when and where they like.
Christy's reply
we wish you every happiness in The Lowlands as you enter the reign of Willie and Maxi…that your people may thrive, your flowers blossom, your bicycles remain upright, your painters paint and that you, Brian, find beauty in your mellotron
