Morra Christy, hope these few lines find you in good form. Last night I was invited to sing a few songs at a open mic and it was lovely, while singing “Missing You” the head wandered off in a split second, Paddy Hill came subconsciously to mind. I don’t know why , but recognizing his recent passing was emotional for me to sing to a largely American audience.Almost all approached me afterwards and were aware of the terrible miscarriage of justice all six endured, during my time in London, I met Billy and Hugh , Paul Hill came to a gig in Paddy Reilly’s NY one night and we had a lovely chat about the songs.Delighted to read you have started the archives, don’t forget Bi Bi and where it all began,
I nodded off last night and I had the greatest dream.
I dreamt I was at the greatest Fleadh , the islands ever seen.
The Dubliner’s were singing , when Luke he was alive.
Dublin, Dublin City in the rare ould times.
In came Mary Delaney , John Jacko by her side
And when I heard them singing, my heart it filled with pride.

I want to congratulate you on an excellent gig on Sunday evening and thank you for playing The Time Has Come for my mother, dedicated to the 10 brave men. You always backed them during the conflict and continue to give them a voice, and that’s something that doesn’t go unnoticed. It is a night that my mother will now cherish for a long time, even wanting to meet you afterwards to personally thank you, such is the respect and admiration she has for you.
It’s a pleasure to say that I was there on Sunday night, on a very special evening seeing Andy singing with you. Thank you for the memories Christy.
Thank you so much for the incredible gig on Sunday – Have been coming to see you for 20+ years and it just gets better every time!
Wanted to send you a wee message in case you had seen the three ladies in the third row crying their eyes out through Boy in the Wild and the Voyage. 2024 was a difficult year for me, my mum and sister due to health problems for my dad which meant he couldn’t travel over from Scotland for the gig. Seeing you perform Boy in the Wild with your son was enough to set the three of us off, but that’s what music is all about, eh?
My partner and I are spending the week in Donegal, and then coming back to Dublin to see you on Monday again before travelling home. I wondered if there was any chance I could request Faithful Departed (my favourite song) or Honda 50 (my partners favourite)?
Either way we’re buzzing to see you again!

Hi Christy, I have to say I am with you on the whole footballers/gambling add thing I don’t know if you remember but back in 2023 Brenford & England International Ivan Tony was banned from playing for 8 months following 232 breaches of betting rules. On the day of his first match back ex-players were queuing up on TV to say it wasn’t a ban he needed but help as he was suffering from a gambling addiction. The next thing up pops a photograph of Ivan Tony wearing his Brenford shirt with the name of the gambling company sponsors splashed all over the front of it.
Christy's reply
Not familiar with Ivan Tony but on the same wavelength re sport stars advertising gambling……its an industry that thrives upon the suffering and addictions of others…
Off music topic, but related to the time when you lived in South Manchester…
I know you sometimes went to City matches at Maine Road.Sadly,Tony Book has died…he was 90 and captained the team that was so successful from1966 into 1970s…Many people here won’t know his name, but as a human interest story,it’s well worth a few minutes reading…
In recent times,Tony was a leading light doing meet and greets etc and a brilliant club ambassador. My last encounter with him was post match on a freezing day a few seasons back. I had a club book with me,to be signed by any former players I saw…sure enough along came Tony and his daughter.A few old fans gathered, giving good wishes etc. My turn came and I offered the book to be signed…I’d totally forgotten that an autograph was a serious issue for Tony…I felt bad, hassling him on a cold day,but he and his daughter were ok…the last flourish was signed and I’m now looking at a lovely piece of handwriting …’Best wishes,Tony Book’.
There’ll be numerous tributes and a similar career will probably not be repeated. To his peers he’s always known as “Skip’…au revoir and thanks to a true class act . .RIP

Hello Christy,
There’s been some requests for videos from the gig. I took a few. I’m not sure if I managed to capture The Time Has Come. I’ll have a look through and put them up onto YouTube with links here.
You’re right about the tv ads. One of the worst things about coming back to the UK is rediscovering how awful the tv ads are here. When it’s not about winning or competing, you can’t move for affordable funeral plans. Back to the bosom of the vinyl.
Great to see such fab feedback after Sunday’s epic gig…congrats to Andy as well …
In the run up to the release of ‘A Complete Unknown’,there are some excellent articles and interviews. One historical piece is brilliant.Clever research and linked to Woody and Bob…Importantly, giving details of Woody’s time in Greystone Park Hospital…and much more fascinating info ..
Hello Christy, just saw Pat darcy mention the song “The Time Has Come”. The hairs stand the back of my neck when I hear that beautiful song and I think of our Legends from the Blocks. We may have brave Men, but we’ll never have better. may they rest in peace.

Christy the gig was great,
In the bar before i met a man who knew Pat Magee, the singing of scapegoats was special and the dedication to Paddy Hill ( damn i thought i had recorded it but seemed to have failed to press record, technology is not my friend) anyway when i got home my wife gave me some ‘extra year day’ gifts inc an autobiography signed by Gerry Conlon, a Warwickshire miners strike tie and a donation to Paddy Hill’s MOJO charity….strange how things work out.
Keep on keeping on.

Christy's reply
that was a nice basket of goodies upon your return
Hi Christy, Rory tells me you performed ‘the time has come’ last night. A terribly poignant song, and lovely that Shane McClelland brought his parents, his mother Theresa a sister of Raymond McCreesh. Back in the day I had many a happy visit to Camlough, visiting my friends and fellow students McParlands and McCreeshs. Ray visited my Irish language class in Dundalk often….such great people, such a sacrifice.
Christopher, I lived in Hell with my RSPCA, rescued cat, and named him after you. A neighbor was meant to be caring for Christy while I was away with suicidal depression. On my return, I discovered that the neighbors had read my personal dream analysis. The gossip poisoned the air, and it spread like wildfire, and became a twisted Chinese Whisper of HATE & HURT!
Later, I returned from working in Greece, only to find my lodger had tortured and murdered Christy. There was blood all over the stairs and walls. Christy was dead!
I fell into a Nightmare of suicidal, hallucinatory, nervous breakdown. I have spent 30 years recovering from the effects of a public breakdown.
Please do not mock those who are less powerful than you. christy RIP.
Hello Christy,
Glad to hear you sounding so energised and chatty. It gave me such a buzz when you saw us last night!
I enjoyed your vocal forays into the lower register very much. The whole voice is lovely but, for me, those bass tones are gorgeous. Hope you don’t mind me saying… and I hope to hear lots more.
I tried to catch some of the low lilting from Welcome to the cabaret on my phone. Missed it, your third one was up the octave.
The whole gig felt lovely, so many great people in the room. The set matched them.
Hope Mick is doing ok, I don’t think we saw him.
I’m sitting looking at the sea through a big window right at the front of the boat. Living right in the middle of the land, going to see the sea is exciting. Lots of memories of years ago on family holidays.
Hope the voice is purring today and your recording bears fruit.

you are quite right ,maybe the man had good reasons…as I get older I find the ad world more challenging…radio, tv and newspaper ads impact more negatively…. more so when people I regard become involved….its a huge industry, many good people make their livlihood thru voiceovers and filming ads…..but when it comes to “gamble wisely” and “drink sensibly”ads my dander starts to rise…maybe I’m wrong but I thought I saw Roy in a gambling associated ad at some stage….I think Ruby has also cantered that path…
I gotta be more careful before I rush to judge…
I must own up here…in 1972 Planxty did a Smithwicks ad..thankfully it never gained momentum..we got £200 which was badly needed in those lean times..it was filmed in the Cat & Cage pub in Drumcondra ( Bertie’s constituency)….when the ad was shown we were barely recognisable in the Back Ground…. we subsequently discovered that all the extras in the ad were off-duty Gardaí SÍochana ..this might have proved problamattical as we were smoking some very fine Californian Grass the same day…back then a smidgin of grass was considered a serious crime…Dinny Mullins would have had us off to the Bridewell without delay…
