Hi christy, what a gig in the waterfront last nite!! Had a sound journey home from Portugal yesterday morning and told my 15 year old son Diarmuid that he was going to the gig. Excited wasn’t the word but when you give him a mention the lad was over the moon. Them few kind words has got you a fan for life. Can’t wait to your back again and neither can he. Thanks very much christy. Much appreciated.

Christy and Declan, really missing you not being at Barrowlands this year, so nipped over to Belfast last night. Hearing “black is the colour”, “barrowlands” and “viva…” made me feel right at home. Hope to see you at Barrowlands again soon. All the best for tonight.
Christy's reply

Had a brilliant night last night in the waterfront. What a night to mark the start of my 30’s. Happy happy happy happy happy happy happy happy Arthur’s day. Thanks Christy and Decky.
Thanks for another lovely ‘Chat’…………It just got me thinking what a wonderful place you must be in at the moment; kicking off the year with Michael D; the brilliant Galway gathering, then all the Gigs through to the Keltoi Centre, The Dalai Lama, Vicar Street, the Wicklow Mountains.
You had us well Buzzing even before Martin & Co arrived on Stage in Vicar Street…….How Long, Dunnes Stores, The ‘Doug Double’;…..Brilliant.
With Martin and the Boys ( what talent) you brought us on a different journey culminating
in the Peckers ‘ Sullivan John’. Well done & Thanks.
Hope the waterfront is going well.

Morra Patsy, greetings from County Antrim. We’re here beneath the Black Mountain. We had a good one last night. Dropped in a few new pieces to a very responsive audience who stuck with us for almost 2 hours. I played a totally wrong chord on Dec’s “Sunshine In” but managed to recover……
……. So far, 2013 has brought some wonderful experiences. Those gigs you mention and more besides. All of this emanates from what has been given, from the love and care of my wife and family, from where we dwell, from my parents and theirs, from Barronstown,The Cotton Mills, Ardmulchan, Hayestown,Athlone…..from all those early teachers of the tune, from my Mother, from Sister Michael and Brother Michael, ( yes !) from Father Flanagan and Mrs Sullivan and then those magic chords from Donal Lunny and a whole new journey commenced. 55 years on and the quest continues. These nights in the great concert halls but still the same journey which has taken me through those ballad lounges, through the folk clubs on to those dens of cabaret. No one knows where this journey may lead but we all, sure as hell, know where it will end. ………………” O Lisdoonvarna “
Going to the Water Front tonight… Christy It’s been a while so Im really looking forward to seeing Declan & yourself- Cheers to a great night x

Just starting the day now, stretching the limbs, walking by the waters edge, warming the vocals, giving thanks in the fresh air, tuning the box…have a good day Mags McCann
Hi Christy, Hope all is good with you and that Belfast is going well. Thanks for the latest instalment of Christy Chat….some great gigs indeed, being present in Derry to hear and see His Holiness was truly momentous (never to be forgotten). I would have loved to have been at the gig in the Phoenix Park as well, could have done my party piece “One Day At A Time” ……LOL ! Love & Respect Martin Mac
Christy's reply
I look forward to hearing that Martin..followed by “Blanket on The Ground”
Not long now Christy till you play at the Mecca of north Wales that is called Rhyl. The nightlife should be bouncing afterwards (don’t think there is much to do except surfing). Can’t wait now and looking forward to a few days extra by the sea. Are you looking forward to new surroundings this time? Hopefully the fellow celts will be understanding of your humour. See ya then
Christy's reply
Morra Spur.. all good here on The Lough…still got a few stops to make before Rhyl. Every gig is a celebration of whats gone before, a rehearsal for whats to come after…
Very inspiring Chat to start the day. That “awakening” you speak of is universal I hope – your really can’t fool all of us all of the time. There will be a reaping. Funny enough I just started singing Sullivan’s John myself again. The Pecker is moving in mysterious ways…
Hi Christy, hope this finds you and all yours well, just a reminder about the Dundalk gig and the comment i left earlier in de year regarding ‘First Time Ever I saw Your Face’ ,its my better halfs birthday the following day and would really appreciate if you could dedicate this song to her from me ,for almost 30 years i’ve been following your music and all that time she’s been along with me on the trip.Young Ellis will be back again to hear yourself and Declan play de tunes, this will be his second gig and so his second time seeing you both,so till then let the music keep our spirits high, cheers from the squiggs !
Another nice chat Christy. It struck me on reading it that each of those gigs was a “once in a lifetime” experience and to have 4 or 5 of them in such a short time is tribute to the work you have done throughout the years (when it was less appreciated too). I was honoured and delighted to just be in the hall at the Dalai Lama’s visit and your song was the perfect choice for the occasion. Unfortunately i won’t be in Belfast this weekend but hopefully will see you around the walls in November if not before. Best of luck, and health, to you, Declan and all the crew.
Christy's reply
always good to see you John…see you Derry Lovely Derry
