i believe in them, so they do exist…………for the loss of his own loyal comrades who died on the Green . Such a great piece.
Those Wicklow mountains were a cold place by the looks today, so many a good song, story or tune has travelled down them and among them.
I will again visit Dunlavin Green to pay respects and remember the sins of my ‘fathers’ when over in a fortnight for the Punchestown fox.

I hope you’re well. I’m still singing to the brilliant scousers and having a ball doing it. “Leaving Of Liverpool” is still my favourite for a singalong. My Ma asked me to learn “Last Thing On My Mind” by Tom Paxton and that’s one I’ve been really enjoying playing it. Also loving doing “Exploring The Blue” by Luka, and “Thousands Are Sailing” by Phil Chevron.
I finished a tune of mine there a couple months back and wanted to share it with ya;
I’ve never been, probably never will…but, newsletters from McCabe’s guitar shop,California always have appeal…the gigs there are varied and tempting…never more so,than onthia grey morning.
Reading three McCabe’s names that conjure up gig memories and hours of disc playing, much closer to home….
Take bows,Bridget St John,Eliza and Martin Carthy… If any readers here, attend…reviews much appreciated!
The buggers are biting hard and the pain has gone to my mind. Alone to bear my fight. There is no time for love here, Christopher. The demons in my head scare them all away. Where has the Love gone? Where is the compassion & understanding? Who cares anymore? You!
Christy, have you ever thought of recording “Changes” in a cottage in the middle of the forest, surrounded by dark mysteries and all alone singing to the lost God?
“Sit by my side, come as close as the air, sharing the memory of Grey.”
Slainte to you and your lovely family. Big Hugs – keep plucking & strumming!
I would just like to thank you from the very bottom of my heart for making my daughter Saorlaith feel like she was the only person in your concert last week.
I took her to your concert in the City Hotel in Armagh last Thursday 10/04/2025 as she has very special reasons for loving ‘Back home in Derry’ and I wanted her to see you sing it in concert. The way you talked to her and made a fuss of her from the stage, as well as how your team treated her both before and after the concert was amazing.
While only 7 is started to learn how to play the guitar and had asked her teacher in advance of the concert to teach her to play ‘Back home in Derry’, she is now a very happy wee girl strumming along with a guitar pick used by yourself on stage in Armagh last week.
I don’t think she will ever forget attending her first ever Christy Moore concert and you have a fan for life.
At the recent, brilliant gig by Gerry Diver and Lisa Knapp, they played several pieces from the new album,’Hinterland’…as much depth live as on the recording…
Now,there’s a detailed track by track analysis…real insights into their creative process….it’s at. http://www.klofmag.com
Rapt to see Ol’ Shakey “Uncle” Neil Young leading the charge against Trump etc.

So that’s what happened it! I rambled out of Kennedys of Westland Row one night in the early 90s and there it was gone! The Taj Mahal ended ed up in Finsbury Park!
Hello Christy,
Thankyou for talking about Yorkshire’s people and music. “All encompassing…” that’s brilliant. I guess it’s a big enough place to hold that.
I’m trying to get a song a week under my belt. Taking two every fortnight to the Panther Club. Every person in that small room is a character.
I’ve been walking through the woods here every morning. The place is full of birds. There’s an app on my phone called Merlin. It helps you learn what the birds are by their calls. This morning there was
Wood pigeon, collared dove, wren, sparrow, dunnock, blackbird, chiffchaff… starting to recognise them.
Hi Christy
working again in Aberdream and a colleague said that business today was ‘scuttery’ meaning slovenly or bungling (for our non-Scots listeners) , so i immediately thought of the use of ‘scuttered’ in Ireland i gather meaning blootered (or very drunk for non-Scots listeners).
Is language not just fabulous when it is not anglicised…..like place names have been the world over……just ask the good people of Cluain Meala.
I seem to recall a michael palin inspired Ripping Yarns character saying someone was off ‘fighting to keep China british’……and so it goes.
Rory in the Aber-Dream
Dear Christy, thank you very much for sharing the poem. It.s indeed correct.
Last night it was a nice one: excellent musicians, beautiful music and singing, a derwisj dancer…it was in a village nearby. It.s a shame, only 6 rows were occupied in a venue of 400 places ! If a person has been on TV it’s full house!
If you are interested in this music you should look for JAWA (last breath fromAleppo)
Next week Jools Holland, totally different. In Antwerp this time
Nice greetings
Dear Christy I hope you and yours are well.
I recently got hold of an original NME advertising the Fleadh in 1992. It was cracking to be there. All the greats. But for the life of me I don’t remember seeing Tommy Makem tho hes on the list. Do you recall it? What a thing for me not to recall. Maybe I was in the smaller marquee.
