Hya Christy hope you had a crackin birthday! Was chatting to Prowsey recently about his thesis…a great read even if a tough one! I am travelling down to Rhyl to see you tonight! I am planning a tour to Ireland 2014 and hope to get to Kildare but will give you a shout before then! Jacob has turned into that creature…the “Chadult” and focussed on everything and nothing…you know how it is! Hopefully get to see you after the show. It would be great if you could play anything on your set for Ann Marie who has been a tower of strength and help me to now earn a living from performing! Cheers buddy…take care la!
Christy's reply
hope you and Jacob had a good night….had a nice clutch of Scousers in last night…I know how difficult it can be to leave town….” O I wish I was back in Liverpool “
We’ll be in Rhyl tonight – to celebrate husband Pete’s birthday. He’s not keen on birthdays, but after a struggle with his physical and mental health, It’s time for a night out. Our eldest daughter will be with you in Hay tomorrow, but 10 year old son Eban will be there – to hear the music he associates with happy holidays and being sung to sleep, And daughter Daire, who has long been promised a trip to see you. Her 15 year old school friend jumped to her death from the Menai bridge on Tuesday. So yes, we’ll be clapping and cheering and enjoying the atmosphere, but we’ll spare a moment to think of less happy souls too. See you later.
Christy's reply
thanks Hils….I hope Daire and Eban had a good night…that she is coping with the trauma of such cruel loss
Christy
Looking forward to Rhyl gig – a lifelong fan and will have my two sons with me tomorrow night. First time they will see you live. Croeso i Gymru Christy a Declan.

Hugh……thanks for the welcome….hope the lads got on well…Christy
Am having a big read on in here of the guestbook. First: am saddened to her that news about Phil Chevron and lets wish him well and the ‘peace of mind’ someone refers to in their post. I can still listen with appreciation to ‘Faithful Departed’, it takes me back to the 70s, no dont take me up incorrectly, I’ve little to no appreciation of that (awful) era, 70s Ireland, ‘Faithful Departed’ tells it well.
Second: oddly enough I happened to be in Carrick on Suir last w/e, as I’ve connections there and spotted a large Christy Moore poster through the glass front of the Strand Theatre, ‘jayney, it must be an old poster’ thought I. Now I spot a posting by a James saying you’re on the bill next month there. Jayney, I’d consider getting down there for the gig. Do mention and dont forget to mention to the good Carrick folk how the Clancys got you started all those years ago, they’re still talked about and fondly remembered in the South Tipp town (but you can mention Waterford too – I think the rivalry is ‘friendly!’). Sadly they’re all gone incl Tommy Makem but Peggy, well-known for her acting career, is still with us and might well turn up on the night.
I’m going to keep in mind another date talked about by another poster in here, a protest against windfarms, useless monstrositys and useless. No panacea at all for energy in the same week we got a ‘Radiation Protection Institute’ report stating the eight (8!) new nuclear power stations in the UK would pose ‘little to no danger’ to the Irish populace – this is the thin edge of the wedge you know.
The German Govt has stopped all future nuclear power development.
Christy's reply
Thanks Ed….It will be strange playing where the Clancys lived their young lives…last night in Rhyl the ocean was dominated by windfarms…I was surprised to see how many turbines were not turning….( this windbag is not for turning !)….hope the broad majestic Shannon is glistning in the Sun today
Sitting in a restaurant on our first evening in Istanbul watched as the Turkish guitarist set up in the corner , We couldnt believe our ears when his first song was ‘Ride on’ sung to perfection , I was telling him later that we were at your show the night before and i gave him the ticket stub i still had in my wallet to his delight…..he said how much he loved your music although he has never seen you live yet and that if i met you in Ireland to say hello to you from him and his Turkish Christy fans. All the best until Limerick christy enjoy Wales, we will be headin to Bruce,Sting,Neil Young . God bless ,
Jimi.
Christy's reply
you have a busy time ahead of you Jimi, Kilrush will be awash with shams needing haircuts…I’ll be at one of them gigs myself….
Dear Christy, would you please write a good old-fashioned protest song about those dreaded industrial wind farms that are disturbing our peace. There may be a major one coming near you in the Bog of Allen. They are bad for wildlife, tourism, people living nearby and only benefit multinational business. A protest rally is planned for June 21st in Dublin and we could do with a nice tune! Thanks and all the best, Barbara
Christy's reply
O come all ye lads and lassies a warnin take from me
I’ll sing for you a verse or two, most old fashionly
get rid of all them iPhones dirty Macs and auld PCs
tis time to trim the wick again,to sit back at our ease
Christy I know your a busy man, so no worries if you cant do what I’m about to ask. A good friend of mine is getting married next weekend and he is a big fan as am I. He is a dedicated musician and he has lightened many a soul with his music. I was wondering if I could send you a card with a pre-paid envelope and you write a brief good luck message from you on the day of the wedding it would make his day. No worries if you cant.
Sure we’re all passengers, whether we’re in the driving seat or nay… If we didn’t see as the strong character that we do see ye as, sure we’d be given ye more orders, then you’d become less than what ye are, regardless of what ye think that may be… Onwards ; )

Safe travels to you and Declan on your tour to the UK. I hope that the gigs go well for you. We are being invaded by Radio 1’s One Big Weekend in your absence. Not quite Lisdoonvarna but i’m sure the younger ones will enjoy it. I just struggle to recognise the names of the acts 🙂
Hello Christy. My wife Liz and I are looking forward to your concert with Declan at Hay on Wye on Friday. We will be staying with friends in nearby Whitney on Wye. Saw you there a couple of years ago.
I’ve been singing Viva La Quinte Brigada, Nancy Spain and other songs of yours for many years now. Lately I’ve added Morecambe Bay. It always receives a very good response.
So thanks for bringing so much pleasure to us over the many gigs we have heard you over the years. Might be able to say hello to you on Friday. If not have a great night. We can’t wait!
Hope that one day you’ll do a gig at THe Plough Arts Centre in Torrington, North Devon. You’d go down a treat here.
In solidarity

if I get an encore I fly like a bird upon the wing
Over Easter, the wife and I spent a week in Belcoo, and as well as the joys of Fernmanagh, we also hopped over the border, including a visit to Bundoran (Ireland’s centre of Fun – apparently). The only downside was the difficulty in finding a good night out and some live music. One evening we went across to Blacklion, where one of the bars was advertising a traditional music session (players and singers welcome). By going in, the wife and I doubled the number of people in the bar.
Seems that we fell for the old tourist trick, although to be fair, all they got out of us was payment for a club orange and some Tayto crisps.
Well, at least we can count on Christy to keep the music alive.
I guess we have seen you live a half dozen times now, but we have never taken the mother in law to see you. This week, we fix that, with a road trip to Bath.
I apologise in advance if an 83 year old woman makes a scene, as she will probably be a bit excited. Even after all these years in England, she has never lost the Belfast accent.
I could list a dozen songs that she would like you to sing, but if you could just dedicate one to Roseleen (Largey), that would put a tin hat on it.
All the best.
Christy's reply
Hard to bate Belcoo for recreation.leaves Bundoran in the ha’penny place…I’ll bring the tin hat

My son, Terry, died by suicide on August 21, 2010. It was a terrible tragedy. My husband’s family live in Bangor, N Ireland. Terry’s funeral was in Philadelphia, PA on August 27, 2010 (the day before what would have been his 30th birthday). The family in Ireland got together in Bangor at the same time as we were gathing in Philadelphia. My niece said they would play John O’Dreams and we did as well. It is a moving song and I want you to know how meaningful it is to us now. Thank you.
