Saw you in Kerry last month, Will be in Bath on Sunday and just booked Whelans for July. Was wondering if you have a spare room i could have 🙂
Christy's reply
they are all coming home that very week end….cousins from chatanooga, an aunt from warnambool, uncle dickhead flying in from xanadu, the in-laws will be up for the match and the godparents have a dog running in shelbourne park…perhaps I could come and stay with you….as a matter of interest, do you have any cure for woodworm?
Hi Christy, really enjoyed your Show in Rhyl we managed to get seats on third row centre. You really gave all last night. Had your latest CD for a while now and enjoy it all but my special favourite is ‘my little honda 50’ never fails to make me smile. Husband is of Irish descent (obviously with surname of O’Keefe) and we love everything Irish. We are of an age with you (21 of course!!!) wish!!! Keep up the good work. Thought Decan did an amazing job last night as well
Christy's reply
thanks for your feedback, I verged on The Honda once or twice in Rhyl but prevailing winds set me on a different course….like you, I do like that song a lot….it feels like it comes from an innocent time….it was written by Tom Tuohy from Coill Dubh in the very heart of Kildare. Tom is a renowned artist in The Boglands….he did all his gigs on a Honda 50, guitar on his back, PA system carefully stashed in the panniers….if he got lucky and pulled, he’d have the quare one up on the handlebars and the pair of them heading down the old bog road…currently he is somewhere in Cental Europe where he has vowed to send me some songs but I supect he is spending far too much time on the tobelrone..greetings to all Wrexham O’Keeffes and songsters..last gigged there in 1969
Hi Christy
Thank you for the wonderful performance in Rhyl the other night and an especially big thank you for the shout out to me and my brother. I must admit that Black is the Colour had me in tears as the description of the woman matches that of my friend who has left us for a place she can be happy at last.
Thanks again
Christy's reply

Hi Christy,
We drove down from Manchester after work to see you playing in Rhyl last night. We have followed you since University days in Manchester – back in 1970’s. You still have that beautiful voice and the years have not robbed you of your talent! There is only one Christy Moore and I was the woman who shouted ‘Christy, Lisdoonvarna!’ Thanks for a brilliant night and also thanks to Declan for his stylish guitar playing and obvious talent. I am a teacher in Manchester and played your CD at assembly today in the hope of converting some of our young pupils! I hope you will come to Manchester again sometime soon. By the way you are NO ORDINARY MAN!
Christy's reply
I thought I recognise that voice….those Manchester days still resound for me too…I loved the music of that time…. Harry Bradshaw, Mike Harding, Marie Little, Mary Asquith, Rose Hardman, Tom & Smiley, Tony & Arthur, Jack& Mavis, The Beggarmen, The Oldham,Tinkers, Valley Folk, Union Folk, Pete Ryder, Des English, Packie Byrne, Tony Downes, Mike Canavan, Des Donnelly, Pennine Folk,…all these Manchester Musicians spring to mind…will pass you comments on to Declan hope to be back next April, if the wind still blows my sails
Really cosy atmosphere last night in Rhyl. Great performance all night. Pity ye didn’t play Johnny jump up though. Ya told me I was behind someone else and then finished your encore ya burger ye. All told really loved back home in Derry and the Arthur’s day ditty. Is that in the new album to be released later. Looking forward to Liverpool now though. Hope the tour goes as god as last night
Christy's reply
old Johnny Jump dont get out much these days…last I heard he was in Rehab, strapped to a valium drip….yaburger, like that monniker…the poetry is only oozing out of you Spur
My father born a killkenny man from a small place called piltown. My pa brought his shovel over to the kingdom about 50 years ago. My mother born in New Ross came over when she was a young girl, my grandfather also looking for work. They met in the uk and had three children me being the dreadful middle child! We were born and raised in Surrey. Ireland is so close to my heart, my siblings joke with me calling me a ‘plastic paddy’ but how can that be when my blood is green? I love the country and live for the music and have spent every holiday I ever had in Ireland. I have learnt so much from your music christy and I am very close to my father because of it. My daddy is always there to explain the history you write and sing about. I would like to thank you for that.
I am the young lady who got tickets for valentines day to see yourself and deccy in bath. If I pass on a photo of myself and my pa would you kindly sign the back for him? It would make a wonderful fathers day gift, thoughtful and sentimental hey?
His name is Jack, maybe nice to tease him about the killkenny cats……..very passionate and very smug! Or simply thank him for doing my garden and giving me endless spuds, parsnips, carrots, tomatoes, wisdom! The list goes on!
Thanks for your time christy wishing you deccy and your team all the best.
Young love
Until Sunday
Julie.
Christy's reply
be happy to sign that Julie….pass the photo to one of the roadcrew….David,John or Michael …also a note reminding me of what you have written here
Excellent night in ‘Sunny Rhyl’ last night. An amazing relaxed performance for over two hours. The sound of the new guitars is beautiful, what are they?
Christy's reply
they are Maton guitars made in Melbourne,Australia…both Declan and I are happy with our Matons, they seem to be gaining quite a following in Ireland….yes Ger, last night was very relaxed despite the storm raging at our backs..there was an ice cold wind blowing across the stage in off the Irish Sea..I was on the verge of singing The Greenland Whale Fisheries but good sense prevailed and I opted for 16 Fishermen Raving….
Hello Christy, so sorry to hear the news regarding Philip Chevron’s health and think it is a lovely gesture that you are making by performing at Whelan’s. I was a huge fan of the Pogues back in the 80s/90s and lost count of the amount of times I saw them perform, I even used to spend more money than I needed in the record shop in Camden just to be in the same place as Phil. ‘Thousands are Sailing’ – what a beautiful, poignant piece of writing. Sad news indeed.
Christy's reply
he is in good spirits…he cherishes all our good wishes…he has always been, and remains, a true singing bird….”Thousands are Sailing” is a classic song
Hope you were not blown away in North Wales yesterday .
About to leave for Hay- on- Wye . I am bringing my nephew Joe Hayes for his 21st Birthday but it has taken me such a long time he is already 22 ! I am really looking forward to it .Give him a shout . He is a great lad .
Bringing my son Paddy Hayes to Bath on Sunday and staying a few days for the Half Term break .
I hope you and Declan have a great night .

Hi Christy and Dec we drove from Brum and back to catch you in Rhyl…well worth the drive as ever, especially to hear Amsterdam. I wanted to call out for Hurt but resisted the temptation….perhaps you’ll sing it at Warwick if the mood feels right? Great sound tonight. Enjoy the rest of your tour.
Christy's reply
I almost sang Hurt last night..about to start when someone called out Amsterdam !
Fulfilled an ambition last night Christy by seeing you live in Rhyl. Over here in Chester from Dublin over 20 years and it felt like a visit home does. You looked like you were heading out for a brisk walk on the seafront afterwards. I hope you held onto your hat and enjoyed!
Christy's reply
