Glad Rory is on the tour..missed the Pro 12 final, shite and onions
Hi Christy, Really enjoyed the show at Bath. My wife and I were delighted to see Decci on stage, having read in an advert for the show in the Daily Mail a few months ago that you would be appearing, quote – “without Declan Sinnott”. Apologies if you’ve explained the reason for the change of plan previously … but we’re very curious to know the answer! (The sight of 7 guitars and 2 microphones on the stage when we entered the Pav made us think you weren’t going to be alone!) Loved I’m a Bogman – our first time to hear it. Dymuniadau Gorau.
Christy's reply
With Declan releasing his own Solo album and starting to do his own solo shows there was a bit of confusion for a while…I do the odd solo gig now but I have become accustomed to all the sweet notes he finds on his guitars
Christy, great night at Hay On Wye, have seen you many times before, really enjoyed the gig, loved Little Musgrave and Spancil Hill, pity there was a curfew, could have done with another half an hour! Viva La Quinta Brigada! we sang along best we could.
Christy's reply
90 mins is a relatively short set for Declan and I but Hay felt just right…went to hear a young singer last year..she sang for 40 minutes and was gone…whats that all about !
Howya …. Was in the pavilion in bath last night . It was inspiring to say the least . Everything was special . From the intensity of the listening, to the great sound, to your set list . Loved every song . While you were watching the pictures in your head while you sang you were painting them , so detailed , for us . Thank you so much . It will stay with me for ever …
Christy's reply
sound Fordey…glad you had a good one…we loved the room and all who came and made it special…when Declan and I gain such listeners we can focus on the task at hand
Hi Christy
Thanks for a magic evening at Hay. Very different mood from your last time there . I particularly enjoyed Little Musgrave and January Man as I haven’t heard them live before.
My daughter Elizabeth also enjoyed her first “live” listen to you and Declan, she has had plenty of opportunities in the past from my CD collection.
Looking forward to Newport tonight, wondering how the vibe will be, any chance of Easter snow.
Ride on and take care, see you in Newport tonight,
Fiona X
Christy's reply
Easter Snow has not transferred to the live arena…I’m afraid its off the menu !….Im back on the mainland after 4 grand gigs in Wales and England..thanks for your comments
Dear Christy,
We went to the gig at the Pavilion in Bath last night knowing it would be a good night – it was beyond that – it was magical.
One chord and the audience – us- were there.
It’s alchemy you and Declan do like you mention in one of your songs.
I don’t know what it is I’m trying to say – even at the best of gigs there’s some moment of frustration – people talking or blocking the view or whatever – but it was like a gig in a dream – flow.
There’s nothing better than listening to beautiful songs played and sang by masters of the craft on an evening in the merry month of May. Hey down ho down derry derry down, among the leaves so green o.
Thank you to you and Declan. Looking forward to more .
Christy's reply
could not wish for a better review Ros….I love those unique venues, I always feel that old gigs reverberate forever, such history in The Bath Pavilion…Declan and I always feel inspired by those who have played before, those whose notes still reverberate….its all in the mind, its all in the imagination “Green Grows The Lily O, Down among The Bushes O”
Hi Christy I hope Bath was fab. Just a note to say thank you to you and Declan and the lads for a magic night at Hay. It was necessary to leave the sadness and craziness and fear of London. Also the solidarity of 4711ers is a joy. Immoveable like the Brecon Beacon. Remember when you quoted Dylan “just because you like my stuff doesn’t mean I owe you anything”. He is right. So I’d like to say Christy i like your stuff and I.O.U. Xx
Christy's reply
there was such a lovely energy in that tent on friday night..it started on the front row and flowed up the bleachers…the lad with the mohican was really strutting his stuff until his flagon ran dry..I had a feeling he might not return, fair play to him , his ode to Bob was timely….its a lovely festival..I’d like to visit it some time as a listener..always great to see you Anuk
Thank you so much. Superb night and Declan was off the hook. I’m bursting with excitement! My dad is going to made up. So
Personal christy!!! Thank you!! You are a true legend to me. Xxxx shine on.xx
Christy's reply
hey Julie, that was a lovely photo….where was it taken..best wishes to you and Jack
Christy, we were at your Hay Festival concert. You’re getting even better! I’ve seen you over the years in Lewisham, Clapham, The Fleadh in Finsbury Park, Bristol and elsewhere. Absolutely brilliant and still you get better. Great songs with Declan and great fun also at Hay.
I was busking in the town the next day and did Viva La Quinte Brigada and Morecambe Bay amongst others. Keep on doing it. Looking forward to seeing you both again. Why not at The Plough Arts Centre in Torrington?
Thanks so much
Dave
Christy's reply
THANKS DAVE…great to hear that you are playing the songs….busking is such a special art form..I never mastered it myself despite many attempts in the 60’s….things were tight for me betimes and I tried my hand at busking but simply could not deliver….I like to listen to and observe buskers on my travels…every now and then I encounter a street performer who stops me in my tracks..an accordeon player in Exeter, a Gypsy child in Dublin singing accapella,a folksinger in Cambridge, Davey Stewart in Scotland, Pecker Dunne in Athy,a Bluesman in Hamburg ( Abi Wallenstein who came on tour with me) my brother in law, Davoc Rynne, busks now on The Cliffs of Moher in West Clare
An absolutely amazing concert in Bath! After having the pleasure of listening to your music over the past 10 years, it was great to finally see you in concert.
Thanks again for a great evening…. the craic was ninety!

we like that venue…great room in a great venue with a superb audience …what more could we ask for….lets do it again
Thank you For a great show in Bath. Apart from the fact Jimmy Hendrix and Bob Dylan played there did it remind you of the Royston Centre in Newbridge?
Christy's reply
you got something there…Bobby Rogers Band and Jimmy Dunny Orchestra both played Ryston as did Johnny Peters and King Modo….Dylan’s manager rang there in the 60’s but none of the Committee had ever heard of him so they got The Gallowglass in at short notice
hi Christy & Declan
im looking forward to the Newport show tomorrow
any chance of signing a cd after the show?
just wondered to take one along or not 😉
all the best hope the tours going well
Just having a quick read here.
I ‘might’ get to that Carrick gig, I know you do say it was the Clancys and their singing that greatly influenced you and got you started on the ‘oul ballads’. Now in saying that, I must admit that the Westport festival looks quite tempting – a good lineup.
And I’ll steal down a glance at the broad majestic Shannon here for you in about half an hour.
‘Sweet Thames Flow Softly’ (Diya know those lines are in Elliot’s ‘Wasteland’? I only read the poem recently.)
Interesting that you played in Bath recently, a place I’d like to see. One time Athlone resident, indeed a native of Athlone, writer and columnist John Broderick moved to Bath in the early 1980s and lived there and passed away there in 1986.
Christy's reply
Wasteland is astonishing, thanks for the nod….we move on to Newport tomorrow, then we head for a late night ferry….manys scribe has lingered on the river bank…be it Thames, Avon,Liffey,Clyde,Mersey,Tyne or Shannon you’ll always find some auld poet fishing among the reeds hoping to hook a rhyming couplet…I met John Broderick once when we did a radio show together…he was an interesting man. I read him after. He picked a grand spot to spend his days
It has been a fantastic weekend with the wife and her mother in Worcester, Ross on Wye and Symonds Yat. We are now in Bath sitting watching the River Avon drift by and the doors to open for tonight’s sing along.
Hope Christy remembers the shout out for Roseleen (Largey) who is seeing him in concert for the first time ever.
Also hope the big fella is in the mood to sing for 4 hours as he will need that long to play all the songs we want to hear tonight.

Tell me a bit about bath what kind of a place is it? Is it near the ocean?
does it have a giant bath or something?
I saw a giorria out the back the last day he took off high speed flipping his legs like they were on fire.
Me and RS were at a fleadh in Ennis yesterday.A tough competition down there there was a LOT of dancers. We danced the buckles off our shoes.
I won first place and got a big trophy, I felt like a king coming home .I got icecream
and steak after.
It is my first dance since I was tinn.
Now we are heading back west to play music taking dadó (94) he takes ages to get up.
Christy's reply
Bath is a Spa Town famous through the centuries for its healing waters. It dates back to Roman times and has unique and beautiful buildings and parks. I have never played here before but have visited. There is a recording studio about 15 miles away. I recorded twicw there back in the 1990s. I also stayed here when we last played the Glastonbury festival. There is a canal nearby with walk paths that go for miles..I like to ramble along there and take the air. Getting ready now for my Bath debút. I’m delighted to read that you are “back in harness”…dont over do it until you are back to full fitness..I was not able to access the Ennis videos, perhaps when I get home the links will work

Thank you for your message to Roseleen at Bath. That put a tin hat on a wonderful weekend for us.
It was well past her bed time but she was still up buzzing at 11.30 by the time we got home.
The show itself was very special, a great selection of songs from a master storey teller.
Until next time, God bless.
you provide the funk and we’ll add in the folk trance
Hi Christy,
Went to see you at Bath last night and it was great. Just listened to Beeswing on your CD and worked out how to play it! Cheers, Barry
Richard Thomson gave us a classic with Beeswing
