Christy,
Saw your recent post re Jack Doyle.
Not sure if you’re aware that August 31 2013 is the one hundredth anniversary of his birth.
Perhaps you could come and play a gig in Cobh to celebrate the fact. It’s been far too long. I’m sure the people in the Sirius Arts Centre (Luka’s “favourite room in Ireland”) would be delighted to welcome you.
Christy, many thanks to yourself, Declan, the crew and the good people at the Wexford Opera House for a great show on Friday. We were over for the weekend and had a ball. Wexford is a lovely town to visit, warm, friendly people, great restaurants and bars. One of the bars has some original posters from Carnsore, great to see them. Planning on going over for the Opera festival next year. Well, after 40 years of seeing you live, that was my first Irish gig and it lived up to all expectations. Buxton on the agenda? You’d love it. Thanks Christy, you’ve made a happy man very old (Ronnie Scott!)
Christy's reply
sound Chris..glad you made it over and had a good visit..Buxton is still on the wish list but its not always easy to get things lined up..no such problem back in ’67, just say yes to every gig and hope for the best…those old Carnsore posters have a great vibe off them
Hi Christy I saw you in Melbourne and Dublin in the 80’s -when are you going to grace our shores ,particularly Melbourne again. There are new generations that deserve to see your talent and charisma onstage, Please come on down.

Hope you’ll enjoy Wexford tonight – we just passed Declan’s home town last Monday when we had to leave the Island. Now we are back home trying to digest all the diverse impressions of our fabulous tour. What a great time we had in different parts of the country, at start Offaly’s bogland where I discovered the Irish bluebells in magical blue, the visit on our friends’ goat and cattle farm in Co. Sligo, buzzing Belfast with its interesting Titanic Quarter and at last paradise-like Beara where the rhododendrons are in magnificent bloom and the first red fuchsias come into flower. And in between we enjoyed your outstanding gigs in Ballinasloe and Dundalk. Thank you, Declan and the whole crew very much for two unforgettable nights. They were indeed the highlight of our beautiful holiday.
Very best wishes, Traudel
Christy's reply
Thank you for all your good feedback..we are blest to have such loyal and fun loving songsters coming to our gigs…always good to see you 2..hope the floods recede and that calm descends allover Germany

Christy's reply

Hi Christy,
I hope all is well with you.
My husband Sean and I will be seeing you tomorrow night and we are both excited about it. Sean is a big fan of yours for many years now. Although I haven’t grown up with your music, (Im from Copenhagen) I really enjoy your tunes and lyrics, you’re a very big part of Ireland for me.
Sean’s 50th Bday is tomorrow. He is the most incredible man and husband you can imagine. And he is a horseman to the last, with a particular good eye for young horses. If you are playing “Ride on” tomorrow, would you mention Sean? That’s his song.
Lots of warm regards,
Viva Tiernan
Christy's reply
Tiernan…hope you have a good night….excitement here too..have not played a gig for 10 days so the songs are aching to be sung..its a nice venue and they tell me that its rammed tomorrow night, not a seat to be had…it being Declan’s home town always give the Wexford gig that extra vibration..Ride On…
Hi Christy, just wondering if you and Declan have any plans to play at vicar street this year? I have been to listen to you guys the last 3/4 years around December in vicar street and absolutely love the venue. Very intimate.

Hi Christy
Just wondering have you any plans to play Drogheda this year. I have been a fan since you
played the Swan inn back in the 80s when I worked there. I would love to bring my eldest
daughter along to see you in concert.
Many thanks
Christy's reply
we hope to return to Drogheda but have nothing firm to report ar the moment…nearest this year mightbbe TRIM Nov….sign up for newsletter on home page and we can keep you posted…I used to love those Monday Night gigs in The Swan over 20 years ago. Always a great atmosphere in that room, lots of good memories..is it still running ? 40 years ago the favourite venue round there was The Big Tree in Clogherhead ..that gig was run by the great Ned Byrne, used to play it with Planxty back in 72-73….often leaving Clogherhead at dawn after a few encores and libations
Ballinasloe, Castlebar, Lisdoonvarna, Portlaoise, Carrickmaccross and now Wexford.
We have travelled all around Ireland to see you and Declan and it’ s always a great pleasure. I hope every year that we can get on the photo with you, what’s got the Dalai Lama that we havent, but I understand it’s not that simple for you. There once was a great opportunity in Lisdoon but I was to shy then.
Anyway looking forword to see you, Declan and Ireland on Friday.
xxx Chris
Christy's reply
its up to you to put your shyness in your pocket and make it happen…I will smile for the camera
Hi Christy,
just wondering if you had any plans to come out to Australia any time soon? I saw you here many years ago and have been thinking about what concerts I would love to see. I would jump at the chance to see you play again!
Thanks and all the best!
Christy's reply
no plans just now Erika….sign on for newsletter and we will keep you posted.greetings to all the thirsty ducks in Woolamalloo
I hear you were badly missed in Kilrush…a big queue for number ones on your first day back..the feckin midgies have the head ate off a me and now the bleddy horseflies are due any day….its chopped straws and butterrmilk for the next few weeks
Off to the Opera House in Wexford on Friday for my first ever Irish gig. Done 50+ this side of the water, everywhere from Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol, London, not forgettting Oldham. We did have tickets for Jackson’s in Ballybofey a few years back but some family disaster knocked that on the head. So, if the good Lord’s willing and the creeks don’t rise we’ll be there. The pirties are boiling….
I was at your gig at the Pavilion in Bath, my first time at one of your gigs and I’d just like to say how much I enjoyed the music and the lovely atmosphere, the first concert I’d been to where the performers took requests from the audience. I look forward to seeing you and Declan again in the future.
