Feedback for you Christy Moore. Your email newsletter chat thing is fantastic, distilled brilliance. I’m going to forward it to my Dad now, he loves that kind of thing. If you lumped them all together and made a book I’d buy it everyone for Christmas, Christymas. I’ve not really got time to scatter my brain all over twitter and the like so please keep it coming xxxx
Christy's reply
merci beaucoup Seona…I’m due a book but that would be too easy…hows things over yonder
When, When, WHEN will Christy tour the United States??!!!
Christy's reply
That leg of the journey is over KD…I will always cherish the memory of my visits there, great gigs, lovely listeners…from The Bronx to Sausalito and many stops between…keep in touch and let us know whats happening
Hi Christy , thanks for the latest chat and the effort that it takes to keep us upto date with the behind the scenes views. Its always great to read these. I was lucky to be at the Knocknagoshel gig on the Friday night and enjoyed all aspects of it from the setting to the setlist to the banter with the locals … long may it all last.
Christy's reply
Knocknagoshel bate all…..what a time we had there…such hospitality, such an inspirational atmosphere in that room…they re routed the traffic for us, they laid on apple tart almighty and, after the second provided bacon, cabbage and spuds fit for Finn McCool himself…glad you enjoyed the night…whats the story over there ?
Hi Christy, Hope all is good with you. Thanks for the latest instalment of chat, captivating and colourful as always “Keep coming back” I hear you say…… I know you enjoy the feedback and the banter from all your faithful followers. I must confess however to having lapsed somewhat of late in my attendance “Forgive Me Father”…..Between facebook, twitter, linkedin, snapchat and all the rest of this social media I’m all over the shop ..LOL ! These sites can be hugely time consuming and highly addictive and I am guilty of overdoing them myself at times (one is too many and a thousand isn’t enough) Great so see and hear that your still clocking up the miles and making so many people happy along the way, delighted also that a new release is imminent. Life is good up here in the hills Christy you must be due a trip back up these parts shortly. We have big weekend ahead this weekend at Croker, as you know I enjoy my football too. I think Mayo will probably have the edge over Donegal this time around but not by much…I think its gonna be a case of “Jimmy’s No Longer Winning Matches” I fancy Kerry, Dublin and Tyrone for the other 3 spots… great weekend of action in prospect for sure. Looking forward also to catching a gig very soon. See you along the way. Love & Respect Martin Mac

always good to hear you share…I completely understand your predicament with such a variety of communicating tasks to be constantly undertaken…shure its a miracle that you have time to take the top off your egg in the morning ! I had a stab at FB which lasted one day…Twittering is beyond my ken…I observe people everywhere twattering and facebonking as the wonderful world goes by….two years ago I was tempted, I got an iPhone…it was the worst week of my life. I quickly returned to my ancient tried and trusted old pinokia. I enjoy pottering around here and looking in on the 4711ers.org
The C’Ship is hotting up in both codes. Some great sport heading our way. Keep the flag flying Martin.
To be honest Christy, I’ve been a bit disappointed with the City of Culture. Been a few great spectacles and gigs like the Return of Colmcille, Elvis Costello, One Big Weekend, Chic that have lifted the town but sort of expected more. The Fleadh should be special too but I’d have liked to see more stuff for the “ordinary” people. Not sure what the legacy will be or if it’ll just be something we look back on as a memory. Your gigs in November will still be my highlight of Derry so can’t say that that’s due to the Culture year. Still, maybe i’m the wrong age and younger folk might have a different view of the year.
Christy's reply
The Fleadh sounds really promising this year….Derry will be perfect, I can imagine the Street Music reverberating…I can hear spontaneous tunes breaking out around The Walls, dancing on The Diamond, the pipes and the flutes and the fiddles all in tune, there will be German Bodhrán players and Boston Step-dancers, Lunatics back on the soup and Pioneer pins glistening upon sturdy lapels….for me, Derry has always been a Cultural Centre, always will be, City and County….we are never the wrong age John
Christy i feel bad….i left Nolan park Saturday night thinking Bruceeee was the greatest show id ever seen…but Sunday afternoon nursing a slight hangover on the sofa i stuck on ‘come all you dreamers’ again….and realized i was wrong… sorry Christy.
But on a serious note, i’m excited to hear of a new album and reading your last chat you said you liked feedback…so here is mine for what its worth..
You are at your best when you are performing live everyone knows that, i know you feed off the energy of the crowd and i suppose the vibes being sent to you give you the extra 10 or 20% to dig out the performance, and the live albums you have recorded have masterfully captured the essence of the songs and both the power and softness of your voice…i know this is hard to recreate in a studio and i’m wondering how you feel on the production of your albums, is Declan producing this album? i have been listening to his new album ‘ i love the sound it makes’ and i couldn’t help reading in the cover notes that he toyed and toyed and edited and re-edited a lot of the songs..i wonder does being too careful knock a little of the soul out of a song, i know Declan is a perfectionist but as the song goes ‘another song is born’ and like us we are all born with imperfections….id love to hear your take on when a song is born to how it is laid down on an album..i suppose in summary id love to hear the essence of everything you embody as a live performer on a studio album without it being over produced….
Either way i cant wait for the release…. and again i’m sorry about Bruce…your the real boss.
To Norrette..
Can’t help you with a later version by CM. But if you google the ballad of jim larkin paddy reilly you will get another song about the man…This song was written by the great Pete St John and is sung to a wonderful video.. Sorry can’t do the blue line stuff…
Fantastic tales from the road again as usual Christy, it’s always a double or treble read to take it all in.. Keep em coming
Hi Christy
Just wanted to say Thank You for the wonderfull show in Westport. I took the whole family and my two boys are now big fans as well. Enjoy the summer and can’t wait for the new release in the fall. All the Best! Mayo for SAM….
Good to hear from you Christy. I’m looking for a later recording of the Dublin 1913 lockout (later than what’s on the boxed set.) Is there one? I thought I’d put out a link to it to people attending a conference in London later this month:
The Dublin Lock Out Centenary Conference in London
09.00 to 17.00 Saturday 24th August 2013
Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL

Hi Christy.
Great chat from you as always. Reading it is like being a passenger in the back of Mick’s van…Thanks for taking us on the journey.Looking forward to your new album in November. Hoping for some Christy originals on it. The hay is saved and the slurry is spread on the farm here and glad to report that my own songwriting is back on track…Keeping the pencil on the paper for better or worse. Safe travels to you and your crew.
Hi Christy. Thanks for latest chat, it’s a great read, like listening to one of your songs. I have voted for Martin Egan, a great artist. Can’t say I’m into Facebook and Twitter, too much shite on them.
Looking forward to seeing you in Leeds in October, if you can’t find The Grove this time let me know, I’d be delighted to show you the way and buy you a drink.
Hi Christy,
Just read your new chat and thank you so much for mention it made me smile especially after four Bruce shows I am on a bit of a low this week getting back to reality, But we have a few of your gigs coming up shortly and really looking forward……I’ll put my name in the hat for the hair stylist position but not too sure about the Bono shades and the louie copeland keep an eye out for that mid life crisis there!! being from Ennistymon originally I went to school with Joe and Stephen Wall ….their Dad used to fit us out for shoes when the vouchers came. Mike Scott sends me to the moon and back…..what a talent !!! It was great to see the Lads from L.A.P.D in Kilkenny the weekend supporting Bruce and open their set with a few reels from “Humours of Ennistymon” . See you in the Spa .
Hello Christy,
I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your chats. I think they’re a great way to engage with your fans. I’m quite new to folk, and hence I haven’t responded before, as I don’t feel I could contribute majorly to the discussion. But they help to fill the gap for me when life gets in the way, and we’re not able to travel to see you for a little while. I also love the clips you include. I used to edit a website and produce a monthly newsletter for a charity, and I know how it feels when you don’t seem to get much response back – sometimes I thought I’d have to enter my own competitions! But I’m certain that you have many more happy readers like me than correspondents. So, my advice, from a young(ish), quite web literate, person, is don’t worry about Twitter and Facebook, and keep doing what you’re doing. And finally, thanks for all the lovely music, and I’m really looking forward to that album release to brighten up the autumn. Santa won’t have the opportunity of bringing it down my chimney though, I’ll have it long before Christmas!
Take care.
Sue
Don’t go worrying about Twitter and Fleecebook, it’s great to read about your thoughts and summer deeds on this site. The Waterboys were my introduction to the music of the island when they mined Dublin and then the west coast for inspiration. It’s the 25th anniversary of Fisherman’s Blues and also my discovery of your music, “All for a raggle taggle gypsy-o”. Something for me to celebrate at Warwick Arts Centre in October. Exciting news on the release. Is this still focused on revisiting your own song writing? Have a great summer.
