Christy's reply
All good here Adam….we gave “The Wicklow Boy “his freedom last night
Good luck to all for the Lisdoon and Sneem gigs. The Ardilaun gigs with Martin and the band were a real highlight of the year for me and all those attending Lisdoon are in for a real treat. Wish i was there but I’m currently in “Post Fleadh” recovery. What a success that was – even the begrudgers seem to have enjoyed it!! Great credit to all the musicians from all over the country – indeed the world. Such talent from children to pensioners and not an angry world to be heard. Hopefully you’ll make it when it comes back to us. It was a real honour for Derry to host it. Great to hear the musical talent that’s out there and respect to all those who teach it in small halls, kitchens and wherever who never make the headlines. I was so proud of my county and country this last week.

This will be our 5th outing after Lisdoon last Oct then The Ardilaun Galway, Mount Wolsley in Tullow and Vicar St Dublin….I like the slow build of it…great feedack from the Derry Fleadh, great reports too about the TG4 coverage…I’ll have to try and get there next year
On the road again , thank god….The music is drawing us to Lisdoon for the couple of nights.. Really looking forward to the gigs now….We enjoyed the Nights in the Ardilaun in Galway in January and had hoped to get the chance to see yourself with the “band” again..

I first played this room in the Winter of 1981 and Lisdoon has been like a magnet to me ever since…The Hall of The Royal Spa is a shrine of reveberation….as I write I can hear Shamie,Cathal,Mairtín and Jimmy knockin sparks off the soundcheck….I’m on my way down to join in the fun

Hello dear Christy,
Glad you had a great time with wonderful music at the MoT in Bantry, no better place for a summer break. Did you also climb on a mountain or jump in a lake?
And now you are heading for Lisdoonvarna … Wish I could do so too! But this is the first time since decades that we are not on the Island during the month of August – and we are missing her.
Hope you and the Band and the bunch of 4711ers will enjoy your Lisdoon gigs!
Best of Luck, Traudel

A bachelor is someone who never made the same mistake once. Getting married next week (24th) . Tell me what is wrong with playing ‘Ride On’ as you’re walking out the church. Am I missing something. Listening to some of your songs for the first time over the past few weeks. Really drawn to Victor Jara and the live version of Hattie Carroll. Keep up the good work. see you in L’pool.

wish you both all the best for the future..see ye along the way
Hi Christy hope you’re well. Was just watching Gay Byrne’s last Late Late Show the other evening. I do often go on to the RTE website and check out all things Irish, gives me a taste of home. Enjoyed your performance on it. And was just thinking after, you told Gay you didnt think you’d be touring again after your sabbatical. And I got to thinking, thanks be to jayzus you changed your mind there. I first saw you in 2004 I think it was, in the Keadean with Donal, Declan and Luka. And have seen you 30+ times since. And to think it was close to never happening. So for that I’m immensely thankful. I couldn’t imagine not having them great experiences. The music is great for lifting ye out of the dumps. And I find myself listening to God Woman a lot when I’m over here and missing home, takes me right back – I can almost see myself heading out across the bog to Allen, up and over the tower and out to Pollardstown and the Seven Springs, and meeting the moth from Coill Dubh in Clogherinkoe. Hoping to catch you in Newcastle in October, and bring along the btter half, she’s not been to a gig yet but I have her in training.
PS That reminds me, I was playing for Coill Dubh against Miltown in a soccer match years ago, and they were playing on a field of sheepshite out in Pollardstown. There was an electric fence running round the ‘pitch’ to keep the sheep off and I walked straight into the fecking thing. It shook me right up but I was buzzing for the rest of the game and we won 3 – 1.
Christy's reply
Seanie Boy, that electric fence was to keep the Coill Dubh boys in !….I have great memories of playing in Fife..hung out a lot there in the late 1960s. Even went to see Raith Rovers a few times. Played many Folk Clubs and heard great music in The Elbow Room, Kircaldy, and The Mucky Byre in St Andrews,
Hi All. The 54th Rose of Tralee Festival is in full swing,,, Declan Sinnott and Victoria Keating are doing a gig Fri night,,, hope the rain holds off,,,,and next week the CM & Mairtin O Connor band are back on stage in Lisdoon,,with a mini gaggle of 4711ers,,,, so it must mean the Summer holidays are nearly over,,, and the Championship is heating up too,,, Did you hear any good music during your holiday Christy ?? Beir bua & beannacht,,,H
Christy's reply
We heard Paul Brock’s Band, we heard Miki Smith on Pipes, Neilí ní Cronáin,The Voice Squad,Steve Cooney, Seamus Begley, Jim Murray,John Flanagan, Leo McNamara, and Tríona Marshall. We were enchanted, once again, by the wonderful music of Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill… we heard all this at The Bantry Master’s of Tradition Festival. We have only missed one year since this wonderful Festival commenced 13 years ago. We hope to be back again next year.
I’m coming across to see your show in the Sneem Hotel at the end of August with my Singaporean girlfriend whom I’ve persuaded of your brilliance; no, in all seriousness, she’s become a huge, if somewhat accidental, admirer through my own taste in your music.
She’s a decidedly apolitical person whose favourite tune of yours happens to be ‘Allende’!
I’m sure you’ll have umpteen requests made of you between now and then but I thought perhaps if I got in early I’d profit from a first come first served logic…
In a greedy mood I’d ask you for your cut of Hamish Imlach’s ‘Black Is The Colour’, too. (Guess why?).
I’m very much looking forward to the show; you were terrific in Glasgow & Edinburgh last year, and I hope you’ll come back over here again shortly.
Hey !!!
S.O.S 🙂 was just wondering, i know its a massive ask, but i work in Ballybough Youth Project in Dublin, The young people are running a talent show, some singers dancers etc. They are looking to ask a few special guests on the night and someone like Christy moore could be a massive boost for their community. You are an idiol to many and an inspiration to more.

How yeah just spotted the comment on the rosary did ye ever tie the shoelaces of other family members together while ye prayed anything to get through the pain treshold
Christy's reply
perish the thought Iggy…when I knelt for Rosary my entire physical, mental and spiritual dimensions were focused upon adoration….I had an aunt who constantly farted thru the joyful mysteries..while the rest of the family suppressed their laughter I prayed for my old aunt..prayed that her farts were not as horrific as those she slipped out during the sorrowful mysteries…I hooe you are all having a good Summer around The Grey Lake and that your gigs are plentiful and mighty
Hi Christy ,
Madeline Dunne will be joining us at tonights gig , If you get this you might play Amsterdam for her , she loves it .
