Christy, thanks for a wonderful performance at the Phil last night. It was lovely to meet you at the stage door afterwards, you’re so very kind and gentle, a truly made night. Thank you. Liam.
Christy's reply
it was the colour of the night Liam..thank you for waiting
Really looking forward to tonight!!! Could you play smoke and strong whiskey – by far my favourite Christy tune! Or a tune I have never heard you sing live – the rose of Tralee!! Love how you tell the story and include one of Ireland’s most famos tunes!!
Christy's reply
Smoke is in with a chance but The Rose is a doubtful starter…she seldom comes out these days..that said she can turn up in the most unexpected places..she is a mystery to me
Hi Christy,
Coming to see you tonight looking forward to the gig.
Please could you sing Aisling for my daughter as she is named after your famouse song.
This will be the first time we have seen you as a family as we are huge fans.
Kevin and Margaret and the Bell family from Hebburn.
Christy's reply
see the bright new moon is rising above the land of black and green….a McGowan lyric like only Shane can write…I’ll see if I can have it ready by tonight but it has not been out for a few years…greetings to all Hebburn songsters, fiddlers, pipers, piccolo players, dancers, ship builders, marchers, tab smokers, blue star drinkers
Thanks for a great night in the “Phil” last night, you and Declan as usual where on top form and didn’t miss a beat.
We had great seats with a group of shall I say mature ladies sat behind us. As you both walked on the stage one of them said to the others ” so which one is christy then” absolutely cracked me up. Only in the “Pool” hey christy.
Thanks again and hurry back soon, the door is always open
Christy's reply
reading your post I realise that when its real tight and hitting the sweet notes it feels like two players have melded into one …I did miss a couple of beats tho… at the end of “Sacco” I could not remember the shape of the outro…on “Listen” I cut across Deck’s bridge…apart from that it felt just about right…we was like chesire cats as we supped our cocoa in the dressing room after
Great concert last night, many thanks to you both. An inspiring mix of sing-a-longs and songs with deep meaning. Ordinary Man still nits the spot and Declan’s guitar in Ride On took us way, way back. Approaching 65 myself and your comment rang very true!
Christy's reply
for 50 years I feared the onslaught, now at 68 I just hope it lasts a lot longer….these old songs and you great listeners are the elixir that drives us on
Absolutely fantastic show last night Christy. Great mix of songs and as usual you sang like it was your last concert. Wonderful arena is the phil which only helps with the whole ambiance. Might try and nip back home to Derry in November for your gigs there.
Well Christy, what a week! Luka’s wonderful gig in Sale on Thursday and you and Declan in superb form last night, we are still buzzing. Thank you so much for continuing to play for us with such heart. You managed to make me cry last night with Gortatagort, long held childhood memories of my mum’s birth place, in West Cork, came flooding back – she died last year…….
We were delighted to hear the bodhran having an outing, always a joy and as for Declan’s playing, he just gets better and better. Looking forward to Manchester already. See you down the road. With love, Maggie and John x
Christy's reply
Decky was hitting the sweet notes last night..The Phil has a wonderful acoustic and our Sound Engineer ,David Meade, is like a third member of our band
Thanks for treating us last night. I was transfixed and got lost in so many moments.
How beautifully you sang The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face!
I remember hearing an account by John Spillane of how you threw yourself into the whole experience of Gortatagort – Well goodness me, how it showed! It was hypnotising!
I so enjoy going to see you Christy and I’m always amazed all over again by the presence you have.
God bless you. Take care

Thank you all for the atmosphere you created…you raised us up for two hours with your listening, singing and response…..these great venues are but buildings until the audience gathers, thats when the fun can begin…
What a wonderful gig. Ginsberg once said Liverpool is the centre of the creative universe but forgot to add especially when Christy’s in town. Is it the water or the ley line or the honey because I was so moved. Highlight for me when you went into the higher register for Cry like a Man. I heard sounds I thought I never heard before and the whole place just swirled around . Heartbeats in unison. And the the maestro played the ukulele. Genius perfect beautiful… thank you all..a weird and wonderful evening. Everything I will ever need. Xx
Christy's reply
Whatever about Ginsberg it was a great Buzz to see you there at the end of the encore…hopping around and singing “Ukelele”…..its the water and the leyline, its the manuka and the songs of Prowsie,Kev Littlewood, McColl, Guthrie, its Decky’s licks and its the Cat ‘n Caboodle of everthing I’ve heard and learnt since hearing my mother first sing over 60 years ago….thank you Anuk
Hi Christy…one word best describes tonights performance in Liverpool – WOW ! That was as good as it gets, loved every second….Whatever Mick put in your porridge this morning worked wonders …LOL ! Lovely to meet up with the 4711ers as always especially in such a great city like Liverpool…great weekend all around…just sorry not to be heading onwards to Newcastle…Enjoy and good luck with the rest of the tour….thanks for the ould handshake…Love & Respect Martin Mac
Christy's reply
sure thing Marty Boy, The Pool of a Sat night takes some batin, That old Philharmonic is a glorious room.Fill it up with Merseyside singinbirds and its a wonderful place to be. Mick put Manuka in the stirabout, Decky hit the sweet notes, Davy mixed it all together and ye raised it to the rafters…I’m still buzzin from it all
Thanks Christy and Declan for such an excellent concert in Liverpool. It was well worth the journey from north Wales. Thanks also for dedicating the song to the memory of the daughter of one of your followers – so heartfelt. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Diolch yn fawr from Gethin, Lowri, Trish and Emyr.
Christy's reply

Guess what? I’d like to add to the long list of requests for tonight’s gig in Newcastle. Heard you at City Hall last year and thoroughly enjoyed the night. My husband, Tony, would love to hear you do Aisling, its a great song and means so much to us and I’m sure to many others. Tomorrow’s a special celebration and it would make our night. All the best, Elyned.
Christy's reply
if we get across the Mighty Pennines,if we get up that old A1, if we pass beneath the Angel’s wings, and traverse the mighty Tyne….then anything can happen…Aisling will be on my mind..if she comes out tonight Elyned… she will be all yours….
Christy, I’ll be seeing you Sundayin the Toon. Any chance of “Spancillhill” or “Cliffs of Doneen” please. All the years I’ve been watching oyu I can’t recall hearing either of those played on Tyneside.
Christy's reply
that would be lovely…lets see what emerges..you’ve sown the seed
Hope all went well in Liverpool tonight! Safe journey across to the east coast tomorrow.
Really looking forward to the gig tomorrow in the Mill Volvo. It would be fantastic to hear “Lawless” or even “The Wicklow boy” as we are from the hometown of the man. But we will be happy with all yourself and Declan gives us tomorrow.
Arklow James and Olivea
Christy's reply
Give “The Wicklow Boy” his freedom…give Nicky back his Liberty
On the train now and Liverpool bound
Off to hear a mighty sound
The fat Controller has taken my fare
Asked him if he’d heard of the man from Kildare
No says he, looking harassed
Jeez is a pity, you’d be in for a blast
The blonde sitting next me has her old headphones shoved on
Isn’t she miming away to the Craic was 91′
Nearly there now, the Wigwam’s in sight
Brace yourself folks, we’re in for the night.
Well sir not long now till the night that Ireland sing together in the oul pool. Have waited since Rhyl but sure it seems only a week ago. See you have a lot of requests and have to say I was guilty of doing the same but you know what I don’t really care what you sing cause I know I will sing along with all of them (apart from anything off your new album that I don’t have yet). I know it will be a fantastic night tomorrow cause I know that’s what you both deliver. See you tomorrow Mr M!
Christy's reply

Hya Christy long time no speak! Looking forward to seeing you and Decky at the Lpool Phil…hoping to say hello after the show…say hello if ya get the chance bud. Have started performing in nursing homes to the old folk. Love the way the old songs get them going? One gal 91 she was, got up and danced to all 20 songs I sang. Winked at me through every one too. Sadly she passed away a few weeks ago. Her name was Olga. I am making some bread for you and Declan to have either before or after the show! All the best Stevie Khan
