better late then never…welcome aboard the good ship SS Kangaroo
Thankyou so much for another wonderful evening.
Just wanted to say how much your music means to me and how it has helped me through the last eight years since losing my husband to Leukaemia.
Great to see you this week in Cardiff as off to Cobh tomorrow with the kids to take flowers to dad.
Looking forward to seeing you and Declan play again soon x
Sally
An almost perfect gig. Christy’s voice went from strength to strength, the set list wasn’t set and Deccy’s strumming was, as it is always is, sublime. Almost perfect because….. I wanted to be closer to the stage and Deccy didn’t sing ‘I Will’. Maybe ‘I Will’ just have to catch him on his own tour (accompanied by Belly of course). Many thanks for another superb evening. Di x
After last night’s great concert I am determined to read up on the international brigade. Can anyone suggest where I should start. Many Welsh miners heard the call I know. This is what you do Christy! Thanks a million times over.
Good luck with the Festival Hall concerts, Christy. We’ll be at the Phil on Saturday and have already booked for the Bridgwater Hall in November, with a few family from the old country hopping over the Irish Sea to join us for that one. Keep it going, big man.
Thanks for a lovely night in Leeds. A grand old hall made intimate for the evening. Thanks also for giving my young son Benjamin the plectrum – it made his night (if not year) and he still hasn’t come down from his cloud. He was buzzing after the gig like I have so many times over the years. It was his second gig and at the first last year in Nottingham you sang ‘Listen’ for him. He now tells me, and anyone he knows, that he’s a close personal friend of yours! He now listens carefully to lyrics and he admitted the gig made him sad at times. He was reminded of the bad things that happen in the world (and the injustice that exists) and we’ve talked a lot about that and the emotions it stirs since. Not a bad evening’s work I’d say.
my wife Sonia and I are coming to see you in Liverpool this Saturday evening and are really looking forward to the concert after many years of listening to your music on cd and you tube.
Our all time favourite song is “The Voyage” and I would be eternally grateful if you would mention my wife and our “crew” of Kelly and Tara by name if you have this song on your playlist for the concert as this song has had plenty playtime as we have all been sat in the garden on many a Summers evening .
All the best and looking forward to Saturday
Thanks Christy, Just want to be sure its a rewrite of the Joxer song bringing it up to date and using the same format and id hope to release it as a single if possible either by your good self or other!. Do you want me to send it to you? As a fan of yours i’d hate to fall foul of copyright infringement etc, please let me know what you are happy with.
kind regards
Paul

infringe away to your hearts content, there will be no copyright issue…..I’m too busy at my own bits and pieces to be worrying about such matters…I do borrow the odd bit myself…Pete Seeger said once ( not his precise words) the first lesson for the Folksinger is ” learn to plagiarise”..it keeps the process in motion
Hello Christy – a wonderful show last night and thanks for mentioning Ray Gravell again.
Just wondering what you thought of the Wales Millennium Centre as a venue and did you get some Barra Brith?
Christy's reply
Heave Wales……the memory of Ray stays with me, the Jenkins waft around the green room, the promise of a duet with Cerys, the barra brith, the musicality of Wales….How I envy you your National Anthem, it has to be worth 5 points a match to you…I think it a miracle that our lads can raise a gallop after the awfullness of Irelands Call…..I see them there struggling through Amhrán na bFiann, a third of them determined to ignore it (which is their right ) and then the second cursed yoke strikes up…you think its finished but NO…the most awkward and ugly key change in the history of music and the whole bloody business starts allover again ( as Sam Beckett might say)…..last time I played in cardiff was the night that Ray Gravell passed…I miss our chats at Lansdowne Road….he was a great songbird and a lovely man
I emailed some lyrics to the Tom Dunne show, which I assume you read when you were talking about Euro2012 and Joxer having a son which my lyrics related to, or since you said there would be no Joxer, I have written Peadar goes to Poland. I then sent details to Paddy Doherty as he said he would pass them on to you and if you weren’t interested then seeking your permission to do Peadar. However that was in January and I have heard nothing since.
What a night! You bring joy to many people and education to the youngters. To top it all you have my Jessie J loving daughter your plectrum. Smiles from ear to ear. Bless you both and come back soon (via Aberystwyth!)
Christy's reply
it was lovely the way she accepted the plectrum, glad it went well
Great gig in Leeds and lovely to hear The Dalesman’s Litany. Being a Bradford lad, it’s always nice to hear my hometown mentioned in a song! What memories do you have of Bradford from your time in the West Riding?
Christy's reply

What can I say, amazing, thanks Christy and Declan for an outstanding evening, was it three encores, I lost count, and Sonnys dream was the icing on the cake, not a dry eye on my row,
Looking forward to catching Declan on his visit to Cardiff now!
Hey – so excited to hear about Declan’s solo LP (Leeds Sunday night) . Really loved the solo song Declan did aswell with the lyrics ‘come on out , let the sunshine in’ ….. can anyone tell me who this is by or is it a Declan original? ….. Can’t wait for the solo gigs as well !
Christy's reply

Thanks Christy -absolute stoater of a gig in Cardiff tonight. Don’t leave it so long again!
Christy's reply
“stoater”…is it a Glasgow expression ?……my old friend Hamish Imlach used to employ the phrase to describe a “deadly” gig…a “dingin” night….a “reet ” good do, hopefully we shall return soon, I have heard talk of a Welsh tour, anything could happen, everything is possible….a brace of stoaters

yes Christy it is indeed a Glasgow expression – we Weegies are everywhere, even Cardiff. No doubt your next gig will be another stoater 🙂
