Hi Christy, I hope that 2014 finds you well. We went to see Inside Llewyn Davis a while back. I enjoyed it. I loved the rendition of Dink’s Song. Have you seen it? I like the soundtrack. Next week we are off to see Dirty Wars. dirtywars.org about all the covert operations that the AMerican special forces have going on all over the world. Nothing new I know but the film looks good. As I type this Declan comes on the oul I pod shuffle with Corinna. We are looking forward to the 12th of Feb for Declan and Vicki at the Green Note in Camden. I know you are attached to the screen as we speak as your boys deliver the goods. So, we’re all Wombles aren’t we. Take good care. xx
Hi Christy, myself and two very good friends are really looking forward to seeing you in the Barras in April… Have seen you in Doire agus Beal Feirste and even in Hammersmith previously so cant wait to add Glasgow to that list… Love the new album and played Minds locked shut en route to a GAA Match in the Bogside last night…the car fell silent!! Very interesting to read the Album sleeve and background to the songs…As a Ballinderry(near Cookstown) man we dont like Bellaghy but i understand your fondness for the Historic village… Roll on the 11th of April 🙂
Great to see you are playing Glasgow again this year, can’t wait for The Barras.
The place has changed a bit since you were here last – events at the Clutha have left a fairly deep scar on the city. Adversity can bring out the best in a place and a people and that seemed to be the case here.
Was wondering whether there was any chance you might be up for singing the Stardust song (They Never Came Home) when you’re here in the Spring? As well as having a certain resonance, it’s a powerful, mighty song!
Hi Christy what an interesting start to the six nations,A bit nervous watching the Italians today they looked dangerous at times, the French winning in the last five minutes, only one game left to end the first weekend of the tournament?Shine on Chriisty .
Christy,
Sunday the 2nd February sees us celebrate our Fourth Annual Christy Moore Day in Belfast.
Myself and my good friend Ronan came up with this great idea 4 years ago whilst in university. We all make our own Tshirts with our favourite lyrics on the front! We aim to start on Sunday at 3pm-watch live at Barrowland, then turn on the Christy jukebox…there will be a large gathering in your honour
Christy and I was hoping you could give us all a shout out for our celebrations on Sunday. Our dream is that you one day will sing to us all in our house some day! Ride on you crazy diamond

I did hear I wish I had someone to love me on the box set (Red).
I think its a really nice song and that you do a very good job at it!
I heard Joe Heanaigh sing I wish I had someone to love me.He learned it from his momó and it was the only english song she knew.I also heard that he didnt like guitars or noise when he was singing.Did he ever talk to you about that.
There is a big storm tonight and dad is putting rocks on every thing to keep it down! Rabhata Mór na Feile Bríde will be here too and wont be good with big winds.

Béidir Mhaicín, ach inniu táim snug i mo leaba ag éıst leis an gaoth mhór ag howling round the chimney….Joe, God be good to him, did sometimes have a slight problem with us guitar totin balladeers but I only ever heard about it second hand….the few times I met him I found him to be a quiet spoken man of few words..he was passionate about sean-nós ….outside his home place he never received the respect nor acclaim that his art deserved and eventually, like millions before him, he emigrated. His singing was honoured in distant lands.
Pity you are not playing at Cropredy this August
Some great acts including Cara Dillon who had a wonderful way with songs
Anyway maybe see you a field in North Oxfodshire some year soon
See u in Bridgewater in April
Looking forward to it

The Black Bog yields up the best fire…..good hard sods, best for warming the toes, baking bread, stewing the tae, boilin the praties, gazing at its embers , lighting a Sweet Afton, a Gold Flake, warming a settle
Cropedy has always winked at me .. I heard Fairport over 40 years ago and they just took me away…twas the old Free Trade Hall in Manchester (where Dylan once met Judas) …the sound I heard sowed a seed for some later work…..
It’s a day for Luke… Sing one for ’em : ) A bit confused as to why Eamonn was left out of the tribute in O’Donoghues this morning, but sure, who knows what goes on, I’m sure Luke wouldn’t be fond of the pettiness for his sake either way…Often does an Irish man leave Ireland & work abroad, seldom does he return with such greatness to give. ….its what went on, when he was still here, that really matters
Hi can anyone help me out please, i am looking for the live recording of fairytale of New York which starts with Christy telling a story of going into Paddy Kenneddys pub in Puckane into the snug (i’m sure you know the one 🙂 have searched all over but can’t find it anywhere, does anyone know where and when it was recorded? thanks
He disliked the trappings of fame. Once he was invited south to perform during the Civil RIghts movement by activist and singer, Bernice Reagon. A poster was made with Pete’s and Bernice’s names on it in modest-sized print. Bernice insisted that it be redone with Pete’s name very large and hers much smaller. When Pete arrived, she showed him the poster. In a fit, he crumpled it up and said, “Who did this?” Bernice said, “I did,” then showed him the original poster where their names were smaller, the same size. He said he liked that one better, and it was used. Later, he apologized for his fit. Pete Seeger insisted we could sing. He taught millions to do just that. Songs that go on being sung. Children know them. Adults know them. Adults who learned them from Pete as children sing them still. A long life, well-lived, in service of the greater good. As Arlo said the other night when told that Pete was gone, “Gone? He’s still with us.” And will be, as long as we sing. ~DL

A message from Peggy Seeger about her brother Pete
As most of you will know by now, my beloved brother Pete died peacefully, surrounded by close family members, at the Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia), New York City, on January 27th at 9:17 pm. His daughter Tinya, who had been caring for him for some time, was lovingly holding his hand. I was still in mid-air making a frantic attempt to get there from New Zealand. I arrived four hours too late. I take solace from our last phone calls where much was said but unspoken. I know many of you will be saddened by Pete’s death but we must remember that he led a very full and productive life. He leaves a prodigious body of work for us to enjoy, a legacy the enormity of which will continue to grow. He touched so many people’s lives, from children to the golden oldies like myself. As for me, I have lost the last person who has known me from birth and who has always been there for me. I cannot express how heavy losing Pete lies with me. My thanks to all for your kind and thoughtful condolences. Peggy
A big bright light has left our planet but fortunately we have his music to continue to shine on. Extraordinary man, wonderful artist. One of my favorites, he and Judy singing his song Turn Turn Turn : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHarJn1Bjh0

My very old great Auntín Noreen is going to be 80 and we are to dance at her party. Were you at the south bank before is it a big hall?
I am not sure if I can carry my tap shoes and guitar on the plane.
They might think I’m going to hit the pilot with my guitar and smash windows with my shoes or conceal explosives in my taps and they would flip the shoes in the bin.
I am home with a sore throat for 2 weeks nearly and at the doctor twice. Theres a lot of talk about virus’s.. .. A virus is when you are unfix able and sent home again or when the doctors in the hospital don’t know whats on you they just say that you have a virus and you could be half dead.
Did you ever sing the rocks of bán in public?I thought I heard you sing it once. And also its in the book “One Voice” in the songs.
