a few months ago I heard a song on the radio while I was driving that made me cry. Myself and my wife looked it up on the net and on the spot decided to go and see the performer . We booked tickets for the Mullingar hotel and travelled to Ireland to see you. Neither of us had ever heard of you before or your music. (were not great music buffs) We had the best of times with all the people we met over there and the more we heard yourself and Declan the more we liked. The song was love is a boat. You sing about things you believe in with passion. We are glad we didnt know you were coming to Manchester as if we had we wouldnt have gone to Ireland :))) viva la quince brigada fantastic song. Keep on singing…All the best from Sharon and Gordon

G &S…Its a precious thing, that time when words and music ,out of the blue, go in and touch our very being…its a magic and mystical vibration..
I never know how or why it works, is it the vibration, tone, word, note ,circumstance, history, memory…maybe its all of these and more, all buried deep in our consciousness, lying deep in our inherent folk memory waiting to be unbridled… I sometimes hear something I have never heard before and sweet healing tears begin to flow…thanks for sharing

Good day Christy,
I’ve been watching & listening to your good self for the last 30 years or so & I can hand or heart say that tonight’s performance was up there with the best. The 3 of you were fantastic.. I got the feeling you were up for it early doors.. your intro into ” Back home in Derry ” set the tone. You sang some tunes I hadn’t heard live before. I thought the 2 requests for the youngsters – my little Honda 50 & black is the colour just showed us all that you touch every age with your talent. The next time you are in Edinburgh give us 16 Fishermen raving , my boys love it..
But there is a line from Joni Mitchell’s “miles of aisles” where a fan shouts out ” play what you want” – that’s how I feel at your performances.. Everything is just perfect – even the forgotten lines..
God love ye
Joe

Can’t wait to see you in the Barras tomorrow night. Heading over with my dad (Terry) to celebrate his 70th birthday. We made the trip along with my brother two years ago and it was fantastic. Hope to hear Viva again, the atmosphere was electric the last time. My grandfather volunteered to go out to Spain but when he told my Granny the news she got my aunt and uncles and told him to stick them in the suit case too. That was the end of that idea. He did not go but he did what he could for the volunteers here at home.
Take care on your travels Christy and have a great night.

Their names are Brendan and Jeanette McGeary and its due to them that we are big fans of yours.
Thanks

Bring it back! Looking forward to tonight anyways, safe travels boys!

Me and The Dangler…what a duet we had.. we gave Foster and Allen a run for their money for 4 minutes back in 1988
Dear Christy,
I heard of you for the first time only a few months back, as I am a norwegian student in Glasgow. But it didn’t take long till your music revolutionized my playlist on the computer and became the melodies I was singing to when cooking or cleaning. This is thanks to my lovely class mate and boyfriend, Sean, from Wicklow who “introduced” you to me last Christmas! 🙂
It is such an honor being able to see you live, Christy, and I have been wanting to send you a long letter on how much I appreciate your music ever since I heard Beeswing, Missing you, Fairy tail of New York, Only our rivers run free, etc, for the first time. But, after a serious number of attempts, I haven’t been able to find words reflecting the appreciation enough, and so instead, I am sending you lots of warm kisses and hugs straight from the heart, hoping they’ll still be as warm by the time they get through this internet, over to your computer and reach your screen (and yourself). <3
As I got to see and walk the lovely Wicklow mountains for the first time last week, I'd be very happy if you would be able to sing one of these at some point tomorrow night in Barrowland; Wicklow boy and Among the Wicklow hills? Otherwise I'll love every song you'll be singing, -your voice can make any song a great song. And I am only wishing we'd have such a legend as you in Norway! Lots of hugs and kisses from Claudia 🙂

I used to sing a song I learned in Bergen in 1978…

Christy, safe journey to the RFH. Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday for the first time in a couple of years. If the mood is right I’d love to hear the Dalesman’s Litany – it’s beautiful.
Hope all is is well, I’m looking forward to your gig tomorrow night in the Barras, Your mesmerising shows are always a highlight of the calendar.
I was hoping you could play ‘Connelly was there’ one of your oldest numbers but I know you like to play something that relates to the area and a leader of Connelly’s cast is something us Scots can only dream of in the run up to the September Referendum.
Also just to add, I don’t know if you are already aware of it but Viva La Quinta has been adopted by Celtic fans and is now a popular chant in the stands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqKai5-JxVg
