Really enjoyed the gig last night, good to share it with so many friends. I like what Jimmy Higgins has brought to the music, he’s very subtle and tasteful. Looking forward to the gig on Sunday.

you’re music is amazing I’m coming to see you and Declan at the Glasgow concert hall on sunday 13th with my beautiful girlfriend much anticipated fantastic evening:-}
When I met my girlfriend she was unhappily married and hadn’t had a good life no luck really.
We talked a lot and I emailed a link to Beeswing to her she loved it and it made her cry at the same time it hit a lot of raw nerves.
Now separated from husband and we are in a happy strong relationship with no plans to get married,just to be together as I say Forever and a Day in love :-}
I would really like to meet you if possible I’m not Starstruck and i understand if this is not possible.
Thank you for your music

if we meet we will meet but I dont do no meet and greet…you’re about 30 years too late for that sorta carry on..back then I’d meet and greet the entire audience as long as there was plenty bevvy..these days its all different, mainly thru circumstance…whatever I can give goes out in the performance..when thats done its straight into the oxygen tent…upon recovery its time for supper… ( cant eat for 6 hours before a gig)….then we all kneel in the dressing room for 5 deckitts of the rosary ( praying that the promoter has not done a runner) by then the only ones left in the hall are the cleaners and the night watchmen…you will have long since departed with your poppy and may well be whispering Beeswing into her ear…
Another fine night at the Barras… you, Christy, are one of the greatest songwriters and performers of our generation and Declan an unbelievable guitarist…. makes it look almost effortless at times. Both of you compliment each other brilliantly… thanks a million to you all, GO ON YOURSELF!!

we came back into that room yesterday at 4 o’clock..it was empty except for us 3 and our loyal crew..its always a great room because of its history, acoustics and atmosphere (even when empty)….the doors opened at 7, a few early arrivals to get pole position, then as time drew near the trickle became a stream..by 8 0’clock that old room was loopin… backstage we put final touches to our preparation..out we came and The Barrowland Choir raised us up one more time…after that we just rode the crest of your wave until we reached the shore…drenched,tired but mighty happy with the result…Shine On You Glaswegian Chanters…x
Hi All..Its been some tour already and its only starting,,,, but what a start ?,,,,there is no doubt this is a communal experience,,,,people singing from the same page of the same hymn sheet….or chanting and connecting… there are three parts to it as you have often said,,, the singers, the songs and the audience but the singers/ musicians set the tone,, lead us.. ye set a very high standard.. Mile, mile buiochas.H
Fantastic night Christy. Thank you for the song in memory of the Clutha vaults victims and the tribute to Big George. You had me in tears. Till next time. Oiche Maith!
Hi Christy, you and the boys done us proud tonight, what a great gig, highlights to numerous to mention, Kevin Barry, Broomielaw, Stardust, and the amazing Spancil hill are the few that spring immediately to mind. A big thanks to Declan a wizard of the guitar and the young Mr Higgins, im sure hell go places. But most of all a big thank you to yourself for keep coming over to our mad city and letting the music set our spirits free. On a sadder note, I don’t know if you are aware, as I only found out today that someone you might have known from the old folk days passed away last week. John Eaglesham a member of the Clutha group and later on Stramash is sadly with us no more. He wrote many a good song and enjoyed life to the full and I believe was a a good friend of big Hamish. Will try and make the concert hall but I need to do a bit of grovelling.
You take care

Christy,
A million , million thanks to you, Declan & Jimmy for an amazing show in Barrowland tonight. You were all on Fire.. It’ll be difficult for me to settle back to ‘normal’ next week after this. Best of luck with the rest of the Tour.

well done Patsy..you made it over…fair play to you
Hi Christy. It was some night last night at the festival theatre! You and your music have given me some great times since I first “discovered” you at the Cambridge folk festival in the late 1980s, but the look on my son’s face when you dedicated ‘My Little Honda 50’ to him brought a tear to my eye. If we hadn’t been moved to the dress circle from the front row of the upper circle you would probably have seen him jumping up and down yourself! Every song that he recognised had him grinning and pulling my sleeve, but the dedication topped it all. Thank you so much for responding to my cheeky wee request. Hope the rest of the tour goes well.
Dave.
Hi Christy,
Just made the trip up from Manchester to Glasgow (that was some drive) as I can’t make the Manchester gig.
Bringing the other half for her first time to see you. She loves Beeswing (wink wink)
Looking forward to a great night at Barrow lands.
Regards,
Sean

always one of my fave drives,but more so back in the pre motorway 60s ( 7 hours Man to Glasgow ) toodling along in the1956 VW beetle ( two windows to the rear) with the banjo on my knee and a nice lump of black in me pocket..hitting Glasgow in good time for the gig in Montrose Street after a quick visit to the Scotia to take on refreshment….a yarn with Freddie Anderson, Mick Broderick, a quick Rogan with Hamish, a chat with Danny Kyle and then into the Folk Centre like all my birthdays were coming together
21 years ago me and my wife Lesley were visiting Kinsale. She was pregnant with our first child, Adam. The two musicians in the pub were playing “Sonny” and I asked who’s song is that. “The Bold Christy Moore” was the reply! “Oh aye,” says I, “I’m sure my brother’s got some of his stuff”. We’ve been fans ever since. See you in Glasgow RCH on Sunday!

Hey Al…I first heard this song sung by my friend and mentor, Glasgow’s Hamish Imlach…he learnt it from the author Ron Hynes over in Newfoundland…I carried it back to Ireland and had a hit with it in the mid 80s..its now part of our national repertoire…however , for me, it all began with Hamish Imlach..he helped so many of us to get started…Billy Connolly, Gerry Rafferty, John Martyn, Bert Jansch to name but a few…Hamish gave many of us the start with his time, his contacts, his generosity…his family in Motherwell were my “home away from home” in the 60s
Hi Christy….this will be my husband and I’s 2nd time seeing you at the Barrowlands tonight and we are both really looking forward to it. I had been completely unaware of your music until I met Richard in July 2013 but since then he’s carried out the required slow, drip-feed and I am a convert 🙂
Hope you enjoy playing tonight as much as we will enjoy seeing you…..and if you hear someone singing Spancil Hill way out of tune at the top of his lungs in the crowd that’ll be him 🙂 (the version with Shane MacGowan is one of his favourite songs so fingers crossed we’ll hear it later)
Christy's reply
OK Dusty…I’ve added Spancil Hill to the list of runners for tonight’s Grand National in Barrowland…. but dont hold your breath..yours is the 37th different song request … mind you I’m not complaining…it is a priviledge to have so many enthusiastic listeners for these songs…keep coming back
