Hi Christy
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed the concert last night. Your voice is in great form and you sang so many of our favourite songs, all in all it was a brilliant evening. You even gave a shout out to Brentford FC!! Looking forward to the next time.
P.S. Tell Declan we plan to check him out at the Half Moon Putney – what date is he playing there?
Cheryl & Dominic
Christy's reply
I dont have the date in my head and Declan has gone home..try his facebook..Half Moon Putney is a great old venue
Thanks an absolute great night last night Christy, first time seeing you and it made my weekend! Cant wait for you to come back to London, would only love to hear you sing Beeswing sometime!
Christy's reply
its usually in the set..a grand Richard Thompson song
Hi
Just wanted to say that I and my wife thought last night’s show at the Festival Hall was superb. Never seen you before but I intend to catch every London gig from now on in.
What was the song that you did very early on in your set – 3rd or 4th – which was almost spoken with very sparse accompaniment ?Couldn’t catch many of the lyrics but I think was about “cutting” or “digging”as I would like to get that.
Christy's reply
song 4 last night was “where I come from” ( aka Bogman, it was originally written by my brother Luka Bloom..I took his original song and adapted it to this song)..it is the title song on last years album of the same title…glad you had a good night, great turnout and response
My wife and I came to see you for the 7th time last night on the banks of the Thames. Your music has been part of my life since I was a teenager hearing my brother sing Little Musgrave. I thought you were in great form and the playlist was great. A felt its relevance to today with a strong sense of social justice in evidence. The right wing papers here are doing a great job demonising the needy, immigrants and trade unions.. It was great to Stardust and Morcombe Bay which I thought you did brilliantly!
Please keep coming gigging London it cheers me up no end when you do.
Thanks

always good to hear from The Premier…I hung out in Clonmel 1963-64…still visit the Vale if Honey at every opportunity
Wonderful performance again at the RFH last night Christy.Brought along a friend who was seeing you live for the first time….he was suitably impressed.
All the best to yourself and Declan. Am sure my Dad would ask me to say hello to ya.
Cathal Comerton
Christy's reply
sound Cathal…greetings to you and family…memories of Rathmines and Ballyhaunis..balancing remittances, trying to keep my head down til closing time
Last night you completely butchered Kevin Littlewood’s beautiful ‘On Morecambe Bay’ cutting half the sense and all the beauty. It was a terrible shame in the midst of an otherwise great concert. It’s not fair to the credit the man with the song and then serve up something different and inferior that reflects poorly on him. You sang so many favourites beautifully, Please don’t do that again.
Christy's reply
AJK….thank you for taking the trouble to write..I have considered your opinion and respect it….I will continue to perform Kevin’s classic song in whatever way it emerges on any given night. Kevin and his wife have come to a number of concerts. I perform the song with their blessing. This does not invalidate your opinion in any way. Thankfully the “butchering” did not ruin your night .
Hey christy
Managed to get a couple of tickets for tonight , delighted . I haven’t seen u play since the Albert hall years ago . My grandmother was called nancy Spain and I’ve called my daughter nancy Spain to . So obviously the song means a lot to me , can’t wait to here that and all the others . Can’t wait to finish laying a mile of slabs today . Get up by the river and have a few scoops and listen to you . This is the day the cookoo likes and so do I . Trevor
Christy's reply

Good morning Christy,
Just want to say my son Kevin O’Brien and his lovely girlfriend Sinead will be with you this evening in SouthBank. Kevin was reared on your music and he listens to you all the time and has learned so many of your songs…strumming away.. self taught and brings me and his dad much joy as we listen to him. He sang Nancy Spain for us last night here at home in Cork one of my songs… which was lovely to see next generation continue the oral tradition as my husband refers to it. He returns this a.m to his humble abode in london. He would be so thrilled if you mentioned him and Sinead this evening. He is bringing a copy of your book hoping to get it signed. Another pressie many years ago now. I hope you continue to bring us your gifts for many more years. I have a copy of Prosperus which i think was your first record… I cherish it. Brendan, my husband sang Wave up the Shore last week in Cork Singers Club… went down a treat. God bless and hope you have a great evening. Thank you for what you have given us all so far. Eileen O’Brien. Slan agus beannacht.
Christy's reply
“Like a wave up to the shore, like a river into the sea, I’ll lay down in my resting place…contented there I’ll be” ( Barry Moore)………always good to hear from the long haul listeners, thanks for staying with it….Prosperous was the 2nd album recorded in Kildare in 1971…the first was “paddy on the road” recorded here in London in 1968..long since deleted but a few of the songs still remembered… ( Avondale, Curragh of Kildare, Jim Larkin,Connolly was there, Cúnla) hope your lad has a good night…if he gets the book to one of the crew….
Thank you for a great evening last night, we will be there again tonight. I’m too shy to shout out, please will you play Bees Wings. It conjures up lots of emotions, happy and sad. My husband introduced me to your music, we will be married 40 years this summer so it’s for him too. I hope you enjoy being in London as much as we enjoy visiting Dublin, last Christmas we sat on those uncomfortable stools to see you at Vicar Street.
Christy's reply
fair play for reaching The Ruby..beat you by a year !!!..lets sees if the Bee flies tonight
That was me calling for Wimbledon indeed sir. Of course I mean AFC Wimbledon ( ne’er a truer Womble) and you mean the franchise sell outs MIlton Keynes Dons. No sign of Vinnie or Fash the Bash.
There was a fine gaggle in the house tonight. Such a warm gathering. Friday night the audience are going to let it all hang out. The young ‘un was particularly taken by Jimmy Higgins and Declan’s hair. She squealed at Allende for Maryline and sang quite heartily. As Vinnie said ‘it’s been emotional’. See you in the morrow. Xx
Christy's reply
deepest apologies….I had not realised the developments at W.Don…no wonder you were perturbed by the MK reference…
Hi Christy, you made 2 fans from wexford living in london for over 25 years very happy tonight with a fantastic show at the Royal festival hall. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks. R&P.
Christy's reply
great night by The River….The Model was well represented on both sides of the lamps…gotta face the puck out again tomorrow night but we have the feel of the pitch now
Hi Christy herd the cuckoo today must be getting warmer, saw a few red kites,Blue tits making a nest in the garden,Big bumble bees everywhere could this be a start to the summer.
Christy's reply
the winter it has past , the Summer ‘s come at last..the birds they are singing in the trees
Hi Christy,
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed you, Declan and Jimmy on Tuesday. Your music formed part of the soundtrack to the lives of my partner and me and since he died, I’ve lost the better part of me. Listening to you on Tuesday brought back so many happy memories but made me shed a sneaky tear for what’s lost and gone forever, to quote someone else. Your voice, your playing and your commitment to what’s right were all as strong as ever. If I believed, I’d say God bless you, but a simple thank you will have to suffice.
Christy's reply
Thanks for sharing…it cant be easy…someone shared recently that time does not heal all things…there are certain losses that can never be replaced….I wish you well….greetings to Holmfirth from the bank of The River Thames
A week ago today we laid mam to rest. I shared a few words at the end of the mass and I included Luka’s ‘Sanctuary’ and your own kind words. Everybody was touched at your fond memories of ‘Mags’. I thank you. Good luck with the rest of the tour and I’ll hopefully hear you along the way (perhaps next gig by the Liffey).
Christy's reply
gonna hit the old town in June…hope all your family are bearing up….Mags will always be remembered
Hi Christy, my Dad’s name is Martin Phillips – former secretary of Moorefield GAA and underage chairman. He was a great friend of Timmy Durney (RIP). His favourite song of yours is Bright Blue Rose. Can’t wait to see you perform later!
Christy's reply
Thanks Una….greetings to the family…Up Moorefield…We are The Champions…..what a final that was
Hello again. Thanks for your reply….I can’t abide anybody with delusions of grandeur. Initially, I almost want to have a chat to them and hope I can put them straight. This is more to restore my faith in human nature than for their wellbeing. I have tried in the past though and ended up feeling humiliated and wished I had kept my mouth shut!
I actually commented to my son on Tuesday on how friendly the staff were. I have to say, I also thought the same about two staff that collected my ticket and showed me in at the Philharmonic Hall a few years ago.
Anyway, all the best and bye for now x
Christy's reply
I’ll second that..The Phil is a funky place..lots of good juju…beautiful portrait of Her Majesty in the dressing room
