Hi Christy, Thanks for singing The Contender for me last night. I have been at all your concerts at the inec with the last 12 years bar one and last night’s was the best. The concert 3 years ago was brilliant but last night’s was something special. It was magic. I hope you will play with these lads again in the future because they look so modest and they added so much to your performance. I spoke to a lot of people after in the Brehan hotel and everyone thought it was something special. Its a pity it wasn’t recorded for a dvd it would have been a great seller.
Thanks again Christy for a great night and the Best of Luck in the future

Sound man Mike. It was a pleasure to sing Jimmy Mack’s classic last night. We ran thru it before the gig on the back of your request..the band added new dimensions to it… yours was a noble call
Hi Christy,
I hoping your keeping well and having a good season. May I ask, will the Barrowlands dvd be made available to buy online anytime soon? Surely it is, and will be for years to come, one of the many highlights of what you have released. Will it be re-issued in the near future? I can’t complain about it really, I got that dvd as a Christmas or birthday day present the year it was released, and then I gave it away as a gift when I was on the Ulysses ferry from Holyhead to Dublin at 5 am, thinking I’d easily be able to get it again whenever I wanted. I was sadly mistaken

Our shop here is closed at the moment… selling loose milk, fresh eggs and country butter we drew the attention of the EU Authorities upon our enterprise. They came down upon us like a ton of pricks. The Barrowland DVD is available at gigs. we could look into sending you a copy if you wish.
Hi Christy I. must compliment you and the band on a great performance at the I n e c Killarney last evening. I. had booked months in advance just in case and I. loved the whole show. From the first song to the last just great. I look forward to your next Killarney Gig. Keep up the good work. Pat.

Good morning dear Christy,
Just can hear the blackbirds and sparrows singing to praise this fine May morning, no nightingale … Thank you for another wonderful Chat, always a pleasure to read!
Hope you had a good time in the Kingdom and you enjoyed playing with the Trad Outfit again. We got such great reports of your first three gigs from Petra and Uwe so now we can’t wait to hear you and the Band. But only two more days and I’ll leave my foot down a ship’s board to travel west … If all goes well we’ll see you soon beneath the Black Mountain.
Very best wishes, Traudel

Dermot Hickey here had a chat with you last year I was on a ship off the coast of Liberia and well I’m home at the moment so will be at the gig tonight in Killarney so finally getting to a show after many years missing out.
All this talk of the nightingale, any chance of you resurrecting it on stage. One of my favorite songs of all time when sung by Liam Clancy. Good to see ya supporting the June fest, Damien dempsey is down the week after you and plenty going on in between. Gonna be a cracking week.

Damo togs out for Moorefield ! Pollardstown will never be the same again. Pull first time Damo and watch out for unruly corner-backs…..
……I’m lookin forward to attending a number of events at June Fest in Newbridge….I’ve been enjoying rehearsals with Paul and Lenny from King Modo, great to be singing in the Home Town again
Hi Christy, asked you about your brothers song “City ofChicago” before, but I have another question. I bought one of your CD’s at Beverly records in Chicago many years ago and you sang the song with additional lyrics. You sang about the bellies of the ships full and heading to England. Where can I find the long version of the song?
Christy's reply
Morra Curly….the song you are talking about is a different one….its called “On a Single Day”….it can be found on The Box Set (1964-2004). I cant remember which CD.(it contains 6). I think the Box set has been discontinued by Columbia. There was some talk of a re-issue.Also I’m told that it sometimes can be found second hand on ebay. Were you to contact the sister site , 4711ers.org , someone there might be able to assist you…..PS just had a look on ebay $130…mad price, dont consider…try other avenues, come back if you dont succeed
Hi Christy its been a while since a last mailed you i just wanted to pop in and say hi and hope all the giging is going well i have joined an Irish Celtic traditional band here in South Africa and have been putting my signed Bodhran to good use. we are poised to return to The Kingdom of Kerry…..we will face the music once more at The Gleneagles INEC …across the road from The National Park ..1 mile from where we recorded the “Ride On” album in 1985 ( horseshite never killed anyone)….near Torc and Mangerton…near where I once wrote “They never came home” and, years later, “The Other Side” ( aka Tyrone Boys)..same songs, different lights….gonna take a spin down through The Black Valley..its a misnomer for there is light there of a different nature…I send fraternal greetings to all good listeners on Gooter Strasse
Thank you yet again for another wonderfully written chat – definitely another book in there somewhere. Especially loved the stories of the building repertoire of ballads. It remains one of my favourite memories the way you used to segue from Enniskillen Dragoons to Natives….who knows, maybe it’ll creep into the Belfast gigs. Delighted that Mairtin and the boys will join that gig – an immensely talented gang indeed. Great to see the well earned praise for the crew too – well done Petra and Uwe. Keep well and see you next week.

Ok, Christy. It is only an email after all. And no one has to read it. Or, as I like to do, share my weekend beer rant. Become the media is a good credo. So, this weeks rant. Aha!

more a sharing of perspective then a rant..you sell yourself short
