Good to hear that the new season has kicked off and that you’re back in harness. Sorry to hear about the hand surgery – hope it’s nothing too serious or restricting for you. Was at Steve Earle gig on Thursday – powerful guy with a heck of a story to tell. See you on the shores of the Lake of Shadows. Keep well and best wishes.

its all good John…maybe I’ll be able to play a few more chords !
Dear Christy,
Very good to read that you had a grand start of the new season together with Declan and Jimmy in Co. Cork last night. But I’m sorry to hear of your necessary hand surgery. Horst also had to go under the knife due to troubles in his right hand three weeks ago and it’s healing up splendidly. So we both wish you very well for a speedy and full recovery.
Hope you are having a great time in Sneem – Enjoy! How I’d love to be going to Kenmare River too …
Best of Luck, Traudel
Christy's reply
its more a small procedure then major surgery..I’ve previously had similar procedures on both hands that went well..best wishes to Horst for his recovery…all quiet in beautiful Sneem this evening..Kerry are playing football on the TV so the village green is deserted
I’m still a little speechless after the show in Charleville tonight (lastnight? Whichever…Friday night). It was my first time seeing Christy & Co. live, (other than in videos, which aren’t the same) It was outstanding! I knew it’d be brilliant, because, well, it’s Christy Moore, but it was better than I could ever have imagined. The energy, the passion, the few laughs, everything was spectacular. Declan’s playing was beautiful as ever, and Christy just as good as (even better than) the CD’s. well done lads. A brilliant show. It was never going to disappoint, and by God ye made sure of it!
Hopefully it won’t be the only time I get to see a Christy gig live.
Thanks lads! Thanks for a great and memorable night!

sound Leon…I always enjoy posts written after gigs…that some good listener, like yourself, will drive home after the gig and take the trouble to send a few lines….often I am still awake when the posts land, the apres-gig adrenalin keeps sleep at arm’s length….it was a great start back in Charleville last night, always good to hook up with Declan after the Summer Recess, better still when we are joined on stage by Jimmy Higgins. I mentioned last night that this is the start of year 48 of this current tour….1966 I did my first full pro gig at Mike Hardings Folk Club in Crumpsall,Manchester…its such pleasure and priviledge to still have such audiences as last night..I hope to continue as long as ye listen ! some good call outs last night and great audience singing…Heading for Sneem now where not one ticket has shifted since the final whistle in Croke Park last Sunday…but we’ll give it the full lash after the final whistle
Hi Christy, here is a song about the miscarriage of justice of Brendan McConville and John Paul Wootton, it was an impromptu performance by Pol MacAdaim at the Justice for the Craigavon Two discussion during Feile an Phobail.
We hope you like it and would perhaps give it an airing and in doing so help us raise awareness of the case of the Craigavon Two #JFTC2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DgpzIufpyU

thanks for posting Pól’s song..has he recorded it yet ?..I’d like to hear the finished recording……great too to see the meeting in support of Brendan and John Paul, and to hear the speakers… peace without justice, impossible to achieve

Christie,
I see you have some gigs posted for the end of November. My mates and I will be in Ireland from November 7th to the 16th. Please tell me where you will be performing at that time. I saw you at the Fairway Hotel in Dundalk, Louth a year ago May, and 10 years earlier in Killarney, but they haven’t had the pleasure. Hope to see you soon.
Mike
Christy's reply
no gigs at that time, have to have a wee bit of hand surgery and will be off the road for 4 weeks
Just wanted to say I had tickets for Charleville Park Hotel for this Friday’s gig but unfortunately my friends had to cancel at the last minute so I was forced to seek a refund as I didn’t want to go alone, so a big thank you to the promoter
Paddy Carroll for being so understanding and arranging a refund for me.
Really really raging I wont get to see Christy there again as it was a brilliant performance the last time he played here, I will catch up with you somewhere else at a later date
best of luck and break a leg, Sandy Corrigan, Limerick (originally a Dub) 🙂
Am very much a Durham man Christy. Wear Valley through and through (and very much a Red & White Supporter) . Hi Christy Hope all is well. on the subject of the ice bucket challenge, general idea is someone gets nominated does the challenge, donates 2 euro by texting the Char Number, then Nominates 3 or 4 people to do the same something along that general idea. Hope ur enjoying the time off between gigs. Hope to get some soon.,
Well, it has come to this. Aha, Christy, Maybe I brought up to you two months ago that I was going to maybe stop drinking. Well, I ‘ve made up my mind to stop. Since one or two beers is not enough. I have to stop. My organs, the blessed genes and body that was granted to me, I will not abuse any more.
If weed is legalized nation wide in America, well, I will consider that. But as of tomorrow, I will not partake again of the yeast juice. If was a fun journey, but no more for me now.

I wish you well Caro….having existed in the twilight zone myself (for three decades) I wish for you a long and sober life…alcohol was a devious companion for me…I love this sobriety with a passion, but I still remember that old cunning, baffling, powerful acquaintance who ruled my roost….. I have no advice to offer, only my own personal experience…as for the ganja, for me it was just like smoking my alcohol….all we seek is close at hand, sometimes we simply need a little guidance to help us find it
Like to keep busy like yourself big lad 🙂 …Nah no rear end talking here..seem em with my own 2 eyes July past…. should took a photo come to think of it…next time…

Little Lad to Big man….yes, a photo would have helped authenticate your claim….I’ve never had anything released in that region so I am curious….were the albums you observed on Mercury,Leader, Polydor,WEA,Columbia,Tara,Grapevine, Atlantic,Pinnorek or Shanachie ?….maybe I’m due a few auld shekkels…next time, as you say…
P.P.S While I am on the subject of facebook I wonder if it would be ok if I could share my recording of the dedication you made to your son and grandson when you played in Glasgow earlier this year on your facebook page. Thank you. xox

Hi Christy I am a Newbridge lady living in Limerick and have seen you play many times & have lots of friends you used to sing to sleep! I recently got engaged & am bringing my fiancé Enda to see you in Charleville as a thank you for him spoiling me. He has never seen you live before but he loves you and always sings Brendan the Voyager I’d love if you could sing it for him next Friday. Thank you so much. Emily.
i see your CD’S are still being sold in Tower records in Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion airport Israel. These Israeli boycotts are so tricky to enforce aren’t they ?
Christy's reply
you’re a busy little man these days Stevie but,one wonders, might you be talking through your rear orifice
Well Christy,
I can assure you I am a respectable neighbor. The person calling me on the phone, very late, was not any of my neighbors, it was someone else that I was screaming at, though, screaming very much too late to be screaming, that at I agree on that point.
Now, I have a question to ask of you. I understand privacy and loyal privacy, very much, as well. But, what is Liam O’ Flynn about? Lately he looks quite sad. Maybe he is just – and has always been – a serious type of a man. Who cares if he is serious, he is such a grand musician!
I got this mix offered up to me on You Tube and I like it very much. It tears me up and brings me home. Peace Y’all! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs4qXI6_weA&list=RDVs4qXI6_weA
