Hi Christy,
Have been very sad the last week because we can’t make it to Lisdoon this evening, no plane to get back in time for work.
But then out of the blue tickets for U2 where available, so I went with my son yesterday and it was fantastic. Bono at his best, a bit Irish history but a bit crowded but hey no complains. It was the first time I saw them. When I was younger it was to expensive and when I hat the money the tickets where always immediate sold out.
But somewhere out there there must have been a merciful Samaritan who thought that pour Chris can’t make it to Christy we give her another Irish alternative. And next week I’m gonna see Luka.
So there is a bit consolation.
Hope everthing works out tonight, I will be in my thoughts in Lisdoon and dear Hilary will keep me posted !
See you somewhere else on the road.
Chris

a beautiful morning in Lisdoon . The town is quiet bar the coach tours. Who said ” there’s something about an out of season holiday town….” .? He,s big in Iran…
Hi Christy: I am sending a couple of close friends your way who are Christy Moore virgins, to Lisdoonvara tomorrow night, courtesy of that Bright Blue Rose from Tralee, the Queen of Kerry. Their names are Sarah and Michael Driscoll from Poughkeepsie, New York so a little dash of Fairtytale of New York would be right up their alley! And Christmas is coming……..They’re staying in Fenore nearby, tracing Michaael’s roots as they say. Whatever you play I’m sure the whole concert will be one of the highlights of their trip!
All the best,
Brian

Hi there
Cheers Dagrab. Veronica Guerin was a woman who epitomises the goodness of human spirit. No matter the doom and gloom we hear there will always be a stronger story to uplift us as long as we are prepared to listen. This is what music does for us. Prayers with fancy tunes I guess.
Car filled with petrol and windscreen washer topped up – all set for a trip to Lisdoon. Praying for fair weather to enjoy the Wild Atlantic Way on the drive. Sad weekend for Ireland – puts sport in the background indeed – had Go Move Shift and Johnny Connors running through my head this last couple of days. May they all rest in peace.

Hi Christy
Good to read that Frank in Oldham hopes to check out the Dylan photos in Manchester. Thanks to you for the opportunity to share info and rambles…..
As far as Dublin sites are concerned,,1 00pm Fridays in O’Donoghue’s produces an excellent trad session……great to look at the rogue’s gallery photos throughout the pub as well.In contrast,a fascinating place to explore is the Chester Beattie Gallery.Worth a short diversion in the grounds to visit the stunning statue of Veronica Guerin too.
Slightly off topic…….sad to read that James Taylor’s mother died at weekend. His online tribute and thanks for all the messages of sympathy epitomises his humanity and humility.A moving read…..
Morning Christy.
Some great weeks so far with the Rugby and a few good more weeks with the remaining games and the tour of yourself over here. Thanks to DAGRAB for the heads up on the Dylan photos at the Richard Goodall Gallery, I will try and get in to have a look. I was having a long chat with my dad (92) over the weekend about the harbour at Dun Laoghaire which lead to him telling me about his days at the Christian Brothers Secondary school in the town back in the 1930’s. he was also telling me about Saturday mornings at the Pavillion Cinema down near the harbour. From where he’s describing I think it would have been around where that new huge pub (Weatherspoons I think) has been built. It is sad and at the same time warming to hear my dad speak of his youth back in Dublin. I need to get all the gossip from him before it’s too late. I’m over in Dublin this weekend for another cultural exchange visit. Apart from the Rugby on the box do you have any recommendations of curious places to visit.
All the very Best

that school was in Eblana…the old pavilion stood where the new Pavilion now stands. It was an iconic Cinema which fell into bad shae before it was demolished..I played there a few times in the 70s and 80s..If memory serves RTE fimed a music series there about 40 years ago.. I recall running over the road to the Moira Hotel for badly needed refreshment before, during, and after the gig .It was back in the thirsty years. Thats a good idea to get all the information you can from your Father. Our Mother passed in 1992 and with her went a lot of family History and information now gone forever
Hello bonny lad. Bringing 3 Christy ‘virgins’ to the gig at the sage on the 26th-they have absolutely no idea what to expect. Could you sum up what they can expect in 3 words? I won’t ask for a request but maybe you and Declan could pick one that has dropped off the set list-something like ‘Musgrave’ for example! See you in a fortnight!
Lovely to get your reply, Christy, thank you. Tallulah was seven when we first met; hard to believe. Do you remember she sent you a poem to the Dome? She was thrilled when she received your letter afterwards.
Hi Christy
Hope all well. Not too long until you’re back here and in Scotland. With that in mind,I wanted to pass on the following, that I hope will be of interest to you and many of your followers, especially those with access to Manchester city centre (and who may be travelling to your Buxton gig/here to see Dylan at the end of the month.)
The Richard Goodall Gallery has two sites in the ‘Northern Quarter’.At the High Street branch, there is currently a superb exhibition (and a world first)of Ted Russell’s photos of Bob Dylan in NYC from 1961-1964.In my experience of similar works,Russell’s access to Dylan was exceptional .Many photos show Dylan and Suze Rotolo in relaxed and happy domestic mode as well as wonderful back stage and performance shots at ‘Gerde’s’.There’s also a book on Russell’s work that has been imported from the US by the gallery. Its not open every day,so I suggest checking the website for opening times in advance of a visit.
After the above,I visited nearby music shops.Struck gold with The Bothy Band on vinyl and Declan’s new album. What a superb collection of songs and musicianship there……..’Window on the world’ indeed…….sums up the photo exhibition too.
Happy trails -Dave

I wonder relevant what songs will appear tonight ? Beir bua agus beannacht. H
Morning Christy, it’s been a while, but I’ve been quietly reading your musings and enjoying the banter. We still dream of you returning to Brighton one day, hard to believe Tallulah’s now 15 and Noah will be 9 on Monday, how time has flown. She’s a great guitar player and Noah’s a mighty footballer. Myself and Manuel are more than content with our lot. Your music is ever present in our lives and we hope this finds you and your family happy and well. Hope to see you again one of these days.

Hello Christy,
Great to meet up and thanks again for that night in the Arts Centre Nenagh- a grand night of your singing and wit.
Visited with John Moloughney last night he told me of your letter to his brother Paudie, and how much it was appreciated. He passed away peacefully on July 3rd. The lads are cousins of mine and I would like to thank you for taking the time to write those words of support at that time. As you wrote- Grá agus beannacht- Tom S.

Hi Christy,
I have come down with my wife Catherine to the Slieve Russel to enjoy your amazing singing & celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We have watched you many times, from a smoke filled Great Northern Hall in Bundoran to a different kinda gig in The Grand Opera House Belfast. I understand that you have your own set to play but if you have a bit of juke box time could you sing The Voyage please? I wouldn’t be one for ignorance and demand it throughout your gig like others do. It was the first dance song at our wedding and the lyrics mean so much to the both of us. Life really is an ocean and love has been our boat in the troubled water we have been through it has definently kept us a float, we have struggled for 10 years to gather our own crew but this year through a miracle of whatever God is out there the 2nd and final member arrived. I totally understand if this request is not possible, we will no doubt enjoy the gig regardless.
Lots of luck to you horse!

Well Christy, methinks that my assailants near the MSG and the Sealand squaddies probably suffered from the same ignorance and loathing of ‘hairies’ (as we were back then…)I had no liquid anaesthetic in me to numb the pain but the anger welled to such an extent that my language put a new spin on a ‘Manchester broadside’ and would have given the curmudgeonly ‘Jenks’ (MSG supremo) a run for his money….and we’re the survivors, ultimately.
Thankfully, these days, the city is (mostly) an enlightened place and this weekend I’ll be exploring the arty/bohemian ‘Northern Quarter’ (not far from the old MSG site) to see an exhibition of 60’s NYC Dylan photos at the Richard Goodall Gallery.Happier times indeed …
