Dear Christy,
As usually my husband and I are coming to Ireland for a gig of you for my birthday.
This time it’s in Carrickmaccross. We will stay for a whole week this time, usually it’s just for the weekend. But as you told me last time in this guestbook it’s bad for the climate to take an airplane for such a short stay. We won’t even fly with Ryanair!
We wan’t to travel to Donegal afterwards, I have never been upnorth in Ireland. At last see the hills of Donegal! Are there places you can recommend?
Looking foreward to see you and Declan next thursday.
PS Can you please play “Shine on you crazy diamond” from Pink Floyd?
Lot’s of love from Chris
Great to read all the enthusiastic comments about the Derry gigs. Wish I was there.
A huge moon shone brightly last night. Was it visible over River Foyle too?
Hope the moonlight will be as brillant tonight again to greet the birthday boy.
Well Christy ! What can I say – the others have said it all thanks a million for the fantastic weekend of song and of course the entertainment – What a tonic !! Loved every second – looked forward to that for weeks ! Thank you also to all 4711ers for the great company and it was a real pleasure meeting the lovely Jennifer Nicky Ralph and of course OJ – Pity you didnt see them in the front . That was a very special weekend Christy and Happy Birthday to you – and me ! ! Very Best Wishes Gabh raibh mile mile maith agaibh go leir Geraldine x
Hello Christy,
Have a very happy birthday and many thanks for all the lovely music from Eamonn and me. We’re coming to see you in Cork, which is becoming an annual event for us, and we’re really looking forward to it.
Have a marvellous day.
Best wishes.
Sue
Really loved the concert last Friday at the Millenniuun Forum. Went with my recently widowed brother and it was special for him- ‘the Voyage’ is sacred to both of us. We are from an Irish Protestant background and find you captivate so much of who we are as a peolple on this Island and further afield. Also a great ambassador for bringing perspective to history both local and on other shores- amazing!
I’m a member of the clergy and use lines from your songs to bring colour/expression to what I believe to be the journey we are all on in this little part of North Western Europe.
Blessings Christy
Christy, last nights gig was amazing! Yourself and Declan were in great form, and the set list was brilliant. It was great to see some of the 4711ers again, who are all great craic and very helpful. OJ was delighted with his request, and jumped up wagging his tail when you called his name. He was hyper at times, not like Ralth, Nicky’s dog, who was behind and so quiet you wouldn’t even know he was there!
Keep up the great work, and I won’t leave it as long before I see you again.
Two amazing nights in the forum……..and though the friday gig was tough for you the songs were perfection…Away you Broken Heart was beautiful and Spancil Hill was a few minutes where we floated away to another place. Geraldine has been waiting and hoping to hear you sing this special song and sends her thanks for this rare treat. Sat night was more high energy and the crowd more lively, even calling for songs that had already been sung !!! Jennifer and OJ were in the front row and we thought OJ was going to join you on stage when you called him. Great too to see how you sent the other Donegal Martin back home to Kilcar with a big smile on his face after he was so down in the dumps earlier. Thanks for all you do , it means so much to so many people.
It was a shame Conor wasn,t with us …. he would’ve enjoyed the gigs ,must get him to another one soon..,
Marty & Ger.
My husband, Steve and I first came to Ireland 19 years ago on our honeymoon alternately camping and staying in B&B’s (when our tent got soaked). We went into a music shop and wanted to buy something by a good irish singer and the proprietor recommended Christy Moore and that wad just the start of our Christy Moore music collection and our holidays in Kerry and our life together.
Thank you Christy for yet another wonderful gig. Loved the way that guy sang out his request for Cliffs of Dooneen – a noble call indeed. Also delighted to see the buzz you got from nailing Gortatogort – well i got that buzz from the whole gig and it was a good feeling. Great to meet up again with the wonderful 4711 collective – old and new. Great to see OJ and Ralph too – the dogs in the street know Christy and Decky’s the only gig in town. Best wishes for the birthday and see you back again in June (if the transvestite camรณgs don’t find you first).
Hi Christy, Thank you for yet another memorable performance at Derry’s Millenium Forum. The dissapointment of the Cup Final paled into insignificance for me the moment you struck the first few chords. Loved the way you moved into jukebox mode so early on for “The Cliffs of Dooneen”…I have to say the whole set from there on was breathtaking…..from “Beeswing” to “The Time Has Come” from “Minds Locked Shut” to “Four Strong Winds”…. you were without doubt, right in the zone tonight and your audience was with you all the way ! “Don’t Forget Your Shovel” and “Smoke And Strong Whiskey” went down a real treat and it’s always good to see “Joxer” get a run out… “Amsterdam” is fast becoming a crowd favourite also…. I love it ! Thank you most kindly for the set-list at the end, a most unexpected but very pleasant surprise (Absolutley Delighted) I have to say it was great to see Declan and all the crew in fine form tonight as well….and of course not forgetting the 4711er’s who played a blinder as always (a wee bit like the 12th man)… LOL ! Hope you have a Great day on Monday Christy and see you soon….Love & Respect Martin Mac
I told you months ago that I hoped to make a ceramic sculpture of yourself Christy. Well after a lot of sweat and even more tears including an explosion in the kiln, its done and a fair resemblance I like to think. I wanted to show you in your prime and I liked a couple of photos of you around 40 singing your heart out. Your eyes are closed as you live the words and across your face I have etched a projection of the music of Black is the Colour. Another device I used was to fit a magnifying lens in the forehead which reveals a young woman inside with long black hair.
Its slightly bigger than life sized, head and shoulders, with details picked out in blue. Naturally I would like you to see it and I would appreciate if you could tell me the best way to send photos. My email is markopoloconnor@hotmail.com and phone is 0863917253
Thanks

Hey Christy ๐
I saw you last night for the first time in my life and WOW!!
You were absolutely amazing!
I have literally waited my lifetime so far to see you, and I am very proud that my dad named me ‘Christy’ after you!
I asked one of the guys working last night if I could get you to sign my jacket.. it would have been better than a dream come true but he said no ๐ It was worth an ask though because I’ve been told, if you don’t ask you dont get!
Would there be a chance of getting you to sign it for me sometime? I know its a big ask but that would just be absolutely incredible!
I am also very lucky because today, I took my savings and went and got myself another ticket so I can see you play on 2nd June back here in Derry!
I can’t wait and my dad is going to be so so jealous when I tell him I’m going to see you again!
Thank you for such an amazing night Christy!
Heres a wee tune for you.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF4lhfaO0LU

Hiya Christy, Myself and friends are huge fans. We are organising a charity night in the Regency Hotel in Santry on either 18-19 July in aid of Suicide and Depression. Paddy Casey is playing for us that night and a few local acts, I was wondering if you would like to play a few songs for us. The venue holds 1200 people and all money raised will be going to a local charity for suicide and depression. We will also invite Austism Ireland on the night to make a collection. With big names like yourself and paddy the night will surely sell out. If you need to contact me my number is 0879119279 for more info. Thanks a lot and god bless
