Hi Christy, I am still on a high from your gig in Saturday in Carrickmacross, you and Declan exceeded my already high expectations. My friend Micky and I and the rest of O’Hanlon’s Horsebox would like to thank you for firstly your wise reply on your website here and also for dedicated the last song on the night for us. We were in shock that you remembered the story about The Christy Hoors and O’Hanlon’s Horsebox and where we were from, it truely made our nite and the word has spread throughout Armagh about your kind jesture! We have even had more gig enquiries from it!
Go raibh maith agat again for still inspiring young and old and I hope our paths will cross again. Keep er lit.
Christy's reply

Hi Christy, My name is seanie, ive been to a few of your gigs in killarney & cork, loved every minute of them..massive fan, if you read this can you tell me if its possible to book you for an after weeding party for an hour or whatever suits yourself in october, it for my brother and it would be the ultimite gift from me.. i hope to here back from you, thanks…..
Christy's reply
I am far too grumpy for such a delicate task…last time I played at a wedding there was holy murder when the bass player fell into the trifle, the bride’s father took umbrage and hit me with the top tier of the wedding cake…the bridesmaid took a shine to the drummer and the priest was found in a tight wedlock with the hotel manageress whose husband blamed me for the whole debacle…I was read off the alter and blacklisted by wedding organisers in all Four Provinces….give Iggy a shout, he the man
Hi Christy,
We had a fantastic night when you played here in Cappoquin a few years back. We heard a rumour that you might be returning. We are big fans of yours and have gone to your gigs mostly in Cork and Waterford over the past 25 years. We have 2 teenagers and have promised to take them to see you, and would love if you came back here to Cappoquin for a gig. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you at the Marquee next month.
Christy's reply
it would be lovely to return to that centre..there was a great atmosphere there…the backroom team are always planning ahead…my head does be stuck in the songs
Belated solar return greetings, dear 7/5/45 … haven’t been here for ages and I’ve had to re-register so that remind anyone who’s not heard it, or missed it, (if you didn’t hear it already) that:
One of the programmes which made it onto BBC Radio 4’s Pick of the Week last night is worth catching within the next 24 hours – afaik it will only be available on iPlayer for 7 days after transmission on Tuesday 8 May at 11:30.
“Songs that I’ve sung, tunes that I’ve known, songs that I’ve been involved with, I see The Fox Chase, I see The Rocks of Bawn, Cunla …” What others, Christy, you mentioned sixteen on that list you’d looked at?
Here’s a link to the webpage, although I’ve now used Radio Downloader to commit it to digital shellac:
Thanks for posting this HK….I cannot recall that particular list, it was a random selection of music and songs that Seamus Ennis had collected…I seem to have lists of lists these days
