Fergal who teaches in the school and plays in the band with me has sang the Grey Lake a few times during the year to them, its looking great at the minute also, and here’s hoping we’ll get a good run in football and hurling this year puck it out
Well Christy I’m heading to our local primary school tomorrow to do a few songs with historical and emigration themes so will be lashing out Back Home, City of Chicago,Viva la,Galtee mountain boy and a few more might even fit in a puck around ground hurling
Christy's reply
The Grey Lake itself has a few powerful verses of emigration..hope it goes well and that the rapscallions dont bust your chops…ye were handy agin Ros
Hi Christy, still listening. Very fond memories of seeing you for the first of many times at Ballybunnion, Co kerry in the eightees. x
Christy's reply
I only played Ballybunnion once…it was way back, if memory serves the promoter was a Senator from the upper house….it may even have been part of “The Gay Bachelor” festival which I believe finally gave way to the “Bog Snorkelling” festival. Does anyone out there remember “The Ham festival’ which ran in Claremorris? ( its that sort of a morning!)
Eagerly awaiting your return home in Derry, have tickets for both nights, my birthday weekend also 🙂 Got the flights booked for the Barrowlands, I can’t wait. Your music is always listened to by the boys on a night out, back er on to me Pascal. The signed canvas has struck many a jealous eye, big thanks
Ride on….
Christy's reply

Well Christy my Voyage has begun, I went rovin’ for a pair of brown eyes and she said yes at Claude Monet floral display at the NY Botanical Gardens yesterday, I think it might have been the request that you said you made a muck of in Barcastle a very weeks ago. Thank you SIR.

What a great moment. We loved sitting in the first row..with open mouth and hearts.

The four from Switzerland.
Christy's reply
Hey Rory….glad ye had a good trip…always enjoyed my Swiss gigs, tho its been 25 years since my last one
Much of the music, traditional revival, and the rising social consciousness that came out of the 60s was good. The drugs were awful, disempowering, and were a major detraction from the good. Being present is the only answer to many of our social and personal ills.
Christy's reply
well described…I sometimes think back on all the wasted times, perhaps those lost years make me appreciate these more-sober times…..
hi christy and declan just to say how much i enjoyed friday night in tullamore we travel all over to your shows and i think it was your best yet the mood was a lot lighter than usual no harm when everyone is so down at the moment don`t forget STABILITY WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US
Christy's reply
Tullamore has always been a great gig town, I recall many great nights in different venues over the years…its the fresh air blowing in from The Bogs that uplifts us all…Thanks for your feedback
Hey Christy.
Thanks for a wonderful Show on Friday ; i thought your duet of ‘Billy Grey’ was something special.Twas good to hear ”Veronica” making an appearance; she will never be forgotten.
Delighted to know more gigs are coming. I intend to be at one of them, maybe two, if possible. 🙂
Referring to an earlier comment, the Lock Hospital story in your book was about how you were in a wardrobe for 6 hours listening to a broadcast with wonderful news and beautiful music whilst on an LSD trip. It was after your “trip”, you discovered that the radio wasn’t even functioning, and had been broken for years.
Christy's reply
It was an awful experience….we were such fools to believe those who praised and advocated the use of that foul chemical substance
Good man Christy. You had Tullamore Hopping and we got the world Premiere of Suffocate as well! Last nights version was better than the original recording! Timeless Music!
Christy's reply
P….I got it wrong..I sang that song for Shane on Friday night
Well Christy, i see on the list your playing the button factory in Dublin with Special guests. Just wondering will you be playing with the guests or will it be them, then you? Main reason for asking is i see Liam O’Flynn is playing. That sounds like exciting stuff for obvious reasons. Looks like the gigs are goin well around the country, any idea what date your playin ryston? On another note altogether, have you ever read Liam Clancys Memoirs of an Irish troubadoor? A fantastic read for any Liam Clancy fan, Im sure you’d love it.
Christy's reply
I will be playing solo at The Button factory…my guests are musicians whom I specifically want to hear..there is nothing in place for us to play together..
Yesterday I went to Chapel, the service was led by Father Luka.
It was the second time he played at this venue, an old monastery close to where I live.
The stained glass windows, the candles and the clatter of the guitar echoing off the ancient walls gave the gig a special vibe, Luka himself was in fine form so it was a magical evening.
Hi Christy. I don’t know if you remember young Emma McCarron whose great uncle Colm Gallagher wrote the Reel in the Flickering Light. If you remember she’d released a wee CD as she was fighting cancer. Well, i was sad to read that Emma passed away peacefully on Thursday at 11 years of age. Maybe the worries we thought we had today weren’t that important after all. May God keep her close. http://www.independent.ie/national-news/brave-emma-10-who-launched-cd-to-raise-funds-for-hospital-loses-cancer-battle-3111085.html
