I would’nt tangle with thon Billy..he looks like he’d give a lad a good dunt in the arse…mind you, I did think Bodhr谩n and curry when I saw that fierce eye on him but if I met him face to face all such thought would be banished
Hi Christy,
yes I will continue playing some of your songs. It was hard (for a german 馃檪 ) to get the rhythem right, but now it works — for my and my son’s ears. If you play it with only one guitar, it is good to get some of Declan’s ‘riffs’ integrated.
Our favourits are – at the moment – Cliffs of Doneen and Wise and Holy Woman.
I have read your story around Wise and Holy Woman and since then love the song even more. I also had Mother who I loved very much, she was the greatest part in my life. After she was gone, I really had a very sad time. I have written not a song but a story during that time. This story became a book (unfortunatly written only in German). It is nice to know your story around your songs!
I have also listen to some of your elder CDs and must say, that your sound and voice are even better today — seems you are like a good old wine that’s getting better every year!
Best Regards
Peter

its hard for everyone to get it right no matter where you are from…the secret is lots of practice..EVERY day…then it gets a little bit easier one day there is no pain any more…just simple pleasure…Ride On Peter
Well Christy. Apologies for the misinformation. The lad from Ioscaid is Ciaran Hanna. His younger brother is Niall Hanna (who incidentally won the Tyrone Senior Sc贸r solo singing competition in Coalisland on Sunday past). thanks for the reply to last night’s message. Geordie passed away tragically. They keep his memory alive with the annual Geordie Hanna Singing Festival in Derrytresk.
If they charge you a guinea for a bottle, they’ll send you to hell for your change!! What a line!
Christy I am inpressed with the flow of the new site. was thinkin would it be possible to add something extra…. You have a Lyrics page would you consider adding a Chords page so budding musicians who are struggling to master 1 of the many wonderful lyrics you sing can get them right. I for 1 can manage most of your songs but there are always a few that I just cant get my head around. Would it be possible???
Thanks for the sounds

Have been meaning to look at that Araon..problem is I’m a very slow chord man myself and usually need assistance to work out what chords to play….for now it might be best to ask here or at the sister site (4711ers.org) if you are struggling with one specific song. Someone may be able to lend a hand.Good luck.
Dear Christy hope all is well, the new guestbook is looking very good, Great to be back. looking forward to Tullamore gig can’t wait, enjoyed the DVD Hilary send me out, we cant forget them days.. shine on christy from your number one fan talk soon Mary Mountmellick
Can’t get enough of your music over here. Are you planning any Canadian dates in the future or do my wife and I have to plan a vacation and come see your lovely country side and take you in at the same time? Cheers. Karen & Michael
Hi Christy,
I am watching your Gig’s list from time to time, always hoping that you’ll plan coming to Germany again. Saw you last October in Bochum and both you and Declan are my favorites since then. Playing guitar myself and try to cover some of your songs (only for home use, but my son likes it! 馃檪 ). You both are fantastic guitar players and suit very well in your different way of playing!
I like your new album very much!
Best Regards
Peter
Christy's reply
Peter, we will return some day and enjoy German Listeners once again…best wishes
Christy's reply
keep playing Peter, if your son likes it you already have an important audience…
I’m guessing you already know but your uninvited guests have disappeared from The Bridgewater site promo now and the fact is I’d booked the tickets before I even noticed them. It’ll be another great night I know. Take care. Bernie
Christy's reply
thank you for drawing our attention to the mistake….not quite sure how it came about but good to have it sorted
Christy! My one regret in life is not taking the night off and comin to see you at McGann’s pub in Boston a few years back! I started playin guitar in the pubs because of your love of the song shining thru, and now I hit the pubs in Florida tryin to keep the songs alive. Had a great musician from boston sit in last night and he did a brilliant job on Continental Ceili! Would have done ya proud! Hopin to plan a trip to Ireland in ’14 built around seein you once or twice!! (not in a stalkish way..just for the craic!!) All the best to ya brother! One love!
Christy's reply
2014 is forecast to be a great year for crack stalking
Hallo Christy Hoe was het in Amsterdam in CARRE ? In other words, do you remember us, your DUTCH fans visiting Mary in Clifden and attending your gig ?? Daaaag ! Hear you again whenever.
I agree with colleenbawn…there are never any good Irish singers. We need some to come to the US. Have seen you twice over in Ireland, but would love to see you come to the States. We need more great singer-songwriters. Saw you added some dates…I’ll keep my fingers crossed for USA. Thanks for everything!!!!
Christy's reply
greetings to all Philly songbirds…..there are so many wonderful singers in America and Canada….I hear some of them every day…Janis Ian,Jim Page,Woody Guthrie, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Gillian Welch, Jackson Browne, Floyd Westerman, John Trudell, Bob Dylan, Patsy Cline
Saw your wonderful interview with Gay Byrne on RTE. I remember the first time I saw you, about 20 years ago at Georgetown University in Washington DC. You were amazing then and even moreso now. Wish you would tour over this way sometime. Fewer and fewer Irish singers come to the US, it seems. Am listening to your CDs to get me in the mood for St Patrick’s Day

the older I get the farther it seems…I think of ye often..remember some of the great gigs I had over there…but I have many gigs to do at home, many places to go..I need to be here…..I was longing for America in the 60s 70s and 80s, now I’m most content playing here on this Island……the thought of an aeroplane brings on pangs of panic, gotta stay here colleenbawn but thanks for asking
Hi Christy, another gig added in Derry?? you have us spoilt in May/June, have tickets for the start and end of the month, also taking my first trip to the Barrowland 馃檪 Good luck with the new website. My grandad wrote a song “The Ballad of Bloody Sunday” around 20 years ago, I’d love for to to see it…

Summer comes around each year,
we go there and they come here,
some head off to Lisdoonvarna,
but I live here in Frigiliana…..

did you ever sample the apple wine in El Molinata…..feckin looney broth but the first few glasses would fairly relax you alright..about half way between Nerja and Frijiliana
Welcome Back Christy , all looks well here on the new site . I recently got a Bob Dylan covers album called Chimes Of Freedom , an Amnesty International charity effort – some very good versions of his back catalog by old and new artistes .. all sound good with some standouts from Mark Knopfler / Steve Earle / K’naan … I think you might enjoy it .
Christy's reply
No writer in history has been covererd as often as Dylan….none deserve it more…he remains the greatest artist of our times
Well Christy, what a handling trying to get logged in to the new guestbook! Hope all is well with yourself and all belonging to you. I was digging into the box set recently and Radcliffe Highway caught my ear. It’s one of those songs that sticks in your head. I came across Ronnie Drew singing a particularly haunting version of it also. Have you recorded it on any previous albums or was it one you had from back in the day?
I enjoyed Morecombe Bay on the BBC folk awards. Mike Harding seems to be the genuine article. One of the lads from Ioscaid, who were awarded on the same night comes from my neck of the woods. He was part of the Derrytresk club team which aroused controversy in the National media recently and who lost the All-Ireland Junior club final at Croke Park, his name is Niall Hanna. He’s of the same kin as the late singer Geordie Hanna.
