Hi Christy! My name is Kevin McCloskey. I’m 26 and I’ve lived all my life in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I just wanted to let you know what kind of impact you and your music have had on my life. I’ve been playing folk music (mainly Irish and American) with my father since I was a teenager. He had been playing long before that too. Over this time we have played many of the songs we’ve heard on your albums. Many artists come and go, but it’s hard to find many that sing with heart and passion. I feel that you have always done this. You have inspired me musically, artistically and politically. I thank you for this. I hope to finally see you live sometime soon. Till then, the records will do! Take care!
Sincerely,
Kevin McCloskey

sound man Kevin, thats the kinda talk we like to hear…hope you have many hours of music and songs..greetings to all or US listeners…have some good buddys over there in Germantown
RyanL – Thank you for the correction on the songwriting credit. Should have researched it. Since I’d only heard Leo Kottke sing it, I assumed he wrote it. Bonnie Raitt does a superb version which you can google, but here’s a young Leo Kottke singing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ1ynrFzbyY
Hi Christy – first time seeing you in such an intimate surrounding. Really enjoyed every minute, the songs really spoke to me and caught me be surprise. Hope to make next week too. A fantastic gig with tremendous support
Hi, A note on the song Louise that Wolf mentioned. I loved and still love that song so much that I named my daughter, “Louise”. The song was written by Paul Siebel who made only 2 albums in the early 70s. “Woodsmoke and Oranges”…and “Jack-knife Gypsy” Songs from these albums have been covered by Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Leo Kottke etc. Paul would be in his 70s now as far as i know is still alive and well….RyanL
Fantastic gig last night, each of your gigs are so different that you just make me(and others) want to go back for more, your name should be Christy More not Moore ha.Have a great Tuesday, you fantastic musician, storyteller, performer, and human being, Shine On….
Christy's reply
Jasus Mero, you’re a glutton for punishment…saw you last week, did’nt know you were in again last night…I’m really enjoying these gigs…last night I felt like I was wrapped up in a warm and comfortable eiderdown of sweet music…Immigrant and Deportees and Chicago but then when they let fly on those tunes we kicked that eiderdown off and hell broke loose…buttons popping left right and centre…sound man Mero, dont take no prisoners, get that rebound and sink it in the basket
By the way, that Leo Kottke song is probably one of his lesser known songs. One more well known is called Louise and John Prine could have written it but he didn’t. Leo “stumbled” across it first. He’s done many instrumentals.
Would so love to be amidst green.

its wetter and more verdent by the day…frogs in ecstacy…gardners fraught…crops destroyed…wellingtons deployed…Snoop Dogg been and gone…what a mess he leave behind….even worse then Queen at Slane….this time its Lord Desmond who surveys the battlefield
Sorry for making a ” praiseach” of the message board

How safe is the stand up gig for someone as small as me?(7)Some say yes others say no.
There is a blad headid eagle beside us where we are dancin and singin at the volvo .
Enda Kenny nearly kissed him.
p.s Róisin says thanks to wolfsoundz for sharing the dimming of the day …I have been singing it at the volvo.
Also did you ever play a whole set with your guitar out of tune?
Christy's reply
greetings my western charmers…ye did a grand job on “red haired mary”..your finishing chord was very dramatic….back in the days when I drank too much porter my guitar could have been out of tune and I might not have noticed…I like to think that I am more in tune these days…Declan always lets me know if my strings are slipping out of kilter…..wont know for sure about The Marquee until it is erected…we will do our utmost to make sure that you are comfortable and safe….
Well Christy I know it’s a few days off and that you more than most don’t need reminding but next Saturday sees the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Woody Guthrie. It’s ironic that 45 years after his death his songs are more relevant than ever with the poor still paying the price for the actions and the greed of the rich. We’ve changed the players and the teams but the result is still the same so maybe it’s to change the rules of the game? Anyway wherever I am next Saturday I will find the time to raise a glass to his name and lend an ear to his music, plus a blast of Ordinary Man.
On a lighter note how are your spuds coping with all this rain?
Christy's reply
Woody’s Spirit and Songs live on…he left us such a legacy while he wanted to do was sing….the spuds are a heavier issue altogether…songs are for the soul but the spuds are for the dinner
Morra y’all – Hear the Button Factory was abuzzin’ last Monday – best of luck for tomorrow night’s fun and frolics with Mairtín and Co. Really lookin’ forward to the 16th. A. x

heard a good one about Mrs Daly last week….not forgetting Mrs Brannigan and Mrs Murray….x
He described his voice as being similar to geese farts on a muggy day. I don’t think it’s bad at all on this song. He’s no CM but I do love this song, Tiny Island: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j5ilgP1Ov8

Hi christy, at christmas i attended the dubliners in vicar street which was recorded for dvd. Then a few weeks ago i attended abdy irvines gig which was also recorded for dvd. Without putting any pressure on im curious, would you have anything planned for your gigs in december/january? Its such a great venue and im sure im not the only one that would like to see it, it can be the irish equivelant to barrowlands:-) dont know if youve seen the dubliners 50th dvd yet but i can safely say its well worth a watch. The one song on it that catches me is the auld triangle, everything from johns intro to patsys voice to seeing jim mccann on stage and hearing barney singing along with the crowd is perfect. If ya havent seen it its well worth a watch:-) hope all is well with you and decky, looking forward to the button factory next week
Christy's reply
no plans to film…some ideas, a few vague intentions….I dont think I will be filming in Vicar St..I feel that the Barrowland dvd covers that area of the work for the time being…I do have a project bubbling away at the moment but it its not ready to be aired
