Hey Christy, hope yer still firing ahead, had a mad aul accident, in hospital for weeks, no music for quite a while, will hopefully fully heel though, at least I get the day off off for a while ; ) Home is on the cards : )
I am trying to find out whom to contact in order to obtain permission to quote more than two lines of verse from “Unfinished Revolution” in a book that’s forthcoming from a US press. I would be so grateful for any assistance with this. I’m also a fan of your music, and whenever I play the YouTube clip of you singing “The Well Below the Valley” in a class (I’m a professor), it always leaves the students in awe.
Finally I`ll experience a concert with Christy Moore! Me and my wife are heading for Edinburgh the 8th of November to see & hear Christy and Declan … what a thrill!!!
All best to you all from Harald Nikman, Norway
Howiya Christy, hope you’re enjoying your holiday. Me and the lads are on a holiday as well lol. Hope you’re catching some rays, wherever ya ever. I’m playing some of your tunes over here and the women love it (thanks). Anyway, hope you’ll be back playing in the Dublin area soon and we’ll get to see some solo gigs from Deccie. Might get down to ya at Electric Picnic if I can get the cupla punts (please god).

Hi christy just been viewing seamus Ennis On the uilleann pipes looks like you have to practice a lifetime to master this instrument very quick finger movements Geraint.
Hi Christy, I’ve just had one of those moments when I think ‘I wonder what Christy Moore would think of this!’….I’ve been listening to the Tracy Chapman Collection CD. I’ve never really listened to her music before and am really enjoying it. I was surprised to find myself reminded of the Fureys when I heard track 4-The Promise and then a bit of you and Dec when I heard the guitar sounds in track 7- Bang Bang Bang.
(Christy Moore is probably thinking…’What!???’) Anyway, that’s it off my chest now!
Hope you’re having a good day x

“What is art anyway?” asks Christy in a big tent at the Galway Arts Festival on Friday night. (Is it art, folk or rock n’ roll? Who cares and who can tell?) Sure what does it matter when it sounds this good. Having already been treated to an upbeat performance from 4 men and a Dog, Christy and Declan Sinnot got straight into it with a belter of a set that included Lisdoonvarna, Joxer, Viva la Quinta Brigada, Black is the Colour, Ride On, Go Move Shift, Nancy Spain, Back Home in Derry. Tales of hardship and emigration, Missing you, The City of Chicago, and Ordinary Man all sounded not just relevant, but essential.
“First you see a crowd, then you hear them, and then you smell them”. Whatever it was that was in the air, the man was definitely on top form. It was classic Christy all the way with nothing but good vibes in the city of the Tribes. As an encore, Christy and Declan came back on with 4 men and a Dog for a version of As I Roved Out that lifted the roof off the Big Top, especially when Christy picked up the bodhran. Ending with a gorgeous version of Cliffs of Dooneen, I noticed three beautiful young Finnish girls in front of me crying with emotion.
Christy told us that he and Declan are “huers for the arts”. One thing is for certain, Christy has made an artform out of playing live, rabble rousing, moving hearts.
Thanks for an amazing gig in Galway! You’re only getting better and you made a legendary weekend.

Sorry to learn of the death of Con Houlihan – one of the true legendary journalists. We are the poorer for his passing. Nice article here that he wrote in support of the Travellers.
