Love love love your thoughts on your shows and life in general ! you write like you sing and bring dear old Ireland a little closer to “down under” Thanks Christy !!!
Christy's reply
morra Kenny…biggest ants I ever saw was when I played in Byron Bay…they stole my supper as I played, tell us more about your story up there on Gold Coast…
Hi Christy, really looking forward to your visit on Friday night….. You have immortalised our neighbours ‘Portarlington, Portlaoise and Tullamore’ in song, and played in all of them many times & I recall reading that you got your first guitar at a Fleadh Ceoil in Portarlington!
Few people just wondering however, will this be your first time in nearly 50 years gigging, to grace a stage in Mountmellick?
Christy's reply
I did play in Horans once, methinks twas circa the late 80s…I dont have any clear memory of the gig…different millenium, different century now…a lot of new songs and a new set of strings….add in Declan Sinnott and it feels like a first time
Christy looking forward to the Barras in nov, a lot of the family going including my lovely wife Sarah, please please dedicate bright blue rosé to her and I’ll give u man love lol
Ps I’m going to ask u every week until u agree, love you Christy
Christy's reply
park the jeep…lets see how it pans out…we’ll do the best we can when we’ve all climbed the stairs to the carousel of healing

Planning the summer holidays….are you playing in Ireland in July or August? Of course if you were coming to Toronto I could save the airfare and the beer budget would be bigger…please let me know! Me and the nephew want to see you live! Jemser
Christy's reply
Morra Jemser…never the busiest of months gig wise…we have not planned anything yet but do keep an eye on the gig page and something may coincide with your holiday plan….I regret to say that I will not be in Toronto in the meantime…keep coming back

here in the shortgrass we look on in admiration, awe and a smidgin of envy..Donegal were brilliant and deserving victors….I hope Mayo dont suffer disillusionment..its small comfort so soon after but there are 30 counties would love to have achieved what ye have…gather yourselves and get ready to fight another day …Mayo is a mighty county with great people..ye’ll be back…maybe Kildare V Mayo next year !!!!!
a mighty film, I cant remember it being made but thats me alright…I used to love that jacket. my favourite item of clothing…bought the jacket in Amsterdam and it was decorated by Jim Maitre from Seattle….it finally fell asunder after being half eaten by Teresa Nolan’s pet rabbit
Cant wait for the Ryston gig on Saturday.
Seems as this week is the anniversary of Thomas Ashe death, any chance we would hear a song for him and for having a few more leaders like him these days,.Maybe I was dreaming but i think i heard you sing both “connolly was there/where is our james connolly” in Dublin a few years back,Probably chancing my arm but any chance of those again on Saturday?
Looking forward to a great gig as always,Nothing better than hearing those tunes belted out in the hometown air mixed with the smell of a boxing hall!
Whether you play my request or not.I know this gig will again be a cracker.
Have a good one Christy
Christy's reply
Thomas Ashe gave everything…..we’ll have to wait and see what Sat brings….I love that Ryston venue myself, apart from it being the home gig there is something special about the hall…I played in the fields around Ryston as a boy…Moorefield GFC used to train in “The Ropes Field” which adjoins the pitch and putt club that surrounds the hall…I learned my first chords across the road in Lunnys House, C G and F and then came A minor and I was away on a hack…we used to swim in the river nearby, there was the “mens” and the “ladies” sectors down on the “strand”…in the Summer we’d go to the river after breakfast, dinner and tea…swim all day in The Liffey, play cards and peek at the girls over in the ladies..some fellows even smoked…then if we had the entrance fee we’d go to the Palace or the Odeon and end the day mesmerised by the film and the courting couples woolin the faces of each other in the double seats..then down to Mrs Dunnes Chipper ( bottom of back st) for a 4 penny or 6 penny bag of chips and a bit of a lurk around the juke box….”you aint nothin but a hound dog”
Hello Lads I am writing ya because I would really like to take my son to see ya when you come to Glasgow. The only problem is both venues say age 14 and up. I was wondering if you could help me persuade one or both the venues to let the wee man in. I don’t understand why they even have an age restriction on your show to begin with. Anyway Kieran is 21 months old so still to young for a fake ID. So will ya please have a word with your man at the venue and try to help me get Kieran in? Really if I could pick just one person to see you live with it would be my son. He is a big fan of yours. And Im sure he would be mesmerized. Anyway either way thank you your music has helped be through some tough times. And regardless of where I am when ever your musics on I feel at home.
Christy's reply
I recall wains at RCH a few years back…dont know the score…Barrowland is a different story…last time none of them were weaned off the bottle….sometimes its better to say nothing,
Really looking forward to seeing your gig in Mountmellick on Friday. Myself and a good friend are coming in from Toronto to visit a few friends and take in your great music. Will be my first time listening to you live and can’t wait!
Hope all is well with you.
Best Regards,
Shaun Connolly
How many of those great guitar players are left handed ?
Christy's reply
as far as I can recall Donal Lunny is the only Ciotóg on that list which should have included Tim Edey and Jimmy Smith….Hendrix was perhaps the greatest Ciotóg to play guitar and him playing it upside down
Hope all is well with you and Declan. Bought deccy’s album last week and am absolutely loving it. Anyway, i see your tickets are going on sale for vicar street and bord gais theatre soon enough. Basically what im wondering is on ticketmaster what has to be done to avail of the pre sale tickets? Also without annoying you with questions i would really like to ask you the following. I have a 17 year old brother at home who is absolutely dying to see you with declan aswell as the Dubliners in Vicar street in December. I know their policy is over 18s strictly but what im wondering is if he is coming along with a responsible bunch of adults would there be any problem with him getting in? I know you will have no final answer on this but as somebody who plays there annually you might have an idea. Hope you do not mind me asking so many queations, take care and look forward to seeing you somewhere along the way. Bring on the forum in waterford:-)
Christy's reply
dont let him shave for a week and put him into long trousars….experience in the past would suggest, the less said the better….the worst messers are the over 40’s. had a brace of neuks in last year who nearly wrecked me buzz and not one of them was under 40…they were celebrating their first holy communion
Hi Christy, Thank you for your reply and for your good wishes, likewise I hope your weekend turns out to be most enjoyable. I can totally understand your need to sit on the fence with this one…even though I suspect Donegal holds a special wee place in your heart…. LOL ! Gonna be a Cracker @ Croker ….. Love & Respect Martin Mac
