Good man Rory, your idea is gathering pace1
I came across the Temple Bar Trad Fest 2021, and couldn’t believe my eyes. Dónal Lunny, Andy Irvine, with friends among them Mairéad agus Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, on 28 th Jan, ticket a fiver!

Finally for now, what a brave man your fella Luka is. He has another album, coming at us, ‘Out of the Blue’, and if I can believe my auld eyes, it will be pure music. No songs, no lyrics. All the poetry will be in the sounds…. Brave fella, but for me anyway a must buy for the collection.
Hey Christy, keep the spirits high.
Christy's reply
I’m looking forward to “the Brother’s” next album…for a lifelong singer/ songwriter to embark upon an instrumental album is indeed a brave step….Good Luck Bro
Hi Christy,

Any video verses from any fan ( or foe) will be gladly accepted at Patdarcyis@gmail.com

Cheers

An intriguing post of yours yesterday… are the ‘Lay Lady Lay’ lines from the song you’re working on with Wally Page? How’s it looking in terms of letting it loose on the world?
I was moved to stop while driving by the Tuam home 10 or 12 years ago, when I was last in Ireland. I walked a bit and prayed in some form. One just knows. Dad’s side is from outside Tuam (Leo Moran is a second cousin), but this was a spiritual sorrow beyond any of that.
I listened to your song B.T. Thank you, Christy, Joni et al for lending your compassion, spirit, gifts that I believe help injured souls feel validated.

Hi Christy,
In the summer of 2019 my cousin and i decided to start a business selling t shirts with short 4 word slogans on them .
He is in London and had not heard my course ‘northern’ phrase, and was immediately charmed by it.
The range of bespoke leisurewear shows…your chosen word, plus ‘boils my piss’.
However we are still to launch globally.
I am offering you the chance to take on our irish franchise.
Whilst pondering that excellent opportunity ,can you recall how you came across sinead o’connor to have her sing on ‘middle of the island’ ?
Cheers
Rory

It is with deep regret that I share the following text;
I am advised by both our Commercial and Legal Departments to decline your most generous offer of an Éire (4 word) T shirt Franchise….they believe that Brexit -related complications would turn cross-border T Shirt transactions into potential nightmare…however I am happy to share my preferred 4 word slogan with you
“Brexit Boils My Piss”
However, should Scotia decide to depart the Commonwealth we could revisit this golden opportunity (altho I do find myself considering the Sean Connery alternative)
is doigh liom go bhfuil TG4 an channel is fearr in Éireann…
The last time I spoke with Barney McKenna was at the BBC Folk awards at the Lowry Theatre in that dirty old town….Barney accepted an Hall of Fame award on behalf of The Dubliners… he stepped forward and spoke “as Gaeilge” , it was a beautiful moment…..
I first heard Barney play around 1964 when he turned up one night in Pat Dowlings of Prosperous,County Kildare….he copper fastened the session that night, drew all the musicians in with his magnetic playing….
I got to play with him a few times…he always exuded good will and welcome…
I’ll stop ranting about brexit before I start, but bogeyman would cover quite a lot of it and I’m not going anywhere near using my imagination with what Lise Hand said.
Well Christy the one good thing about Covid is that it appears to have killed ISIS off, not a mention of them by the Government or medi for months. Problem is they will have to think up a new ‘bogyman’ to keep us in place before people start to think maybe it could be the people who gave billion pound failed track and trace and PPE contracts to their family & friends whilst telling us we can’t afford free school meals to feed our poorest children. Rant over, time for a cup of tea.
Christy's reply
Well John…seeing as your on isolation row you might have time to rephrase that second sentence…it runs for four and a half lines ….by the time I got to the 5th line I was floundering..take another run at it…and give the tea time to draw
Have fun in Bob world, Rebecca- here’s some info – if you/other Bobcats want to share info via my email, dive in… d_g_burrows@hotmail.com
‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ is superb and shows Bob’s depths/knowledge of literature etc- also, well analysed on Anne Margaret Daniel’s website – along with numerous other pieces of interest from her writing.
Bob’s book -‘Chronicles’ is a great read and an ‘official bootleg’ CD recorded in NYC ,Live in 1964, shows how far he’d reached by age 23…(the booklet with the CDs is excellent as well)
Loads of other great tips by posters here – so,enjoy everything you can access.
Covers of Dylan are always interesting too – Christy’s lockdown sessions are superb and have brilliant takes on two classic early Dylan songs – ‘The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll’ (episode 4) and ‘I Pity the poor Immigrant’ (episode 6) -regularly played in this bunker…
All the best,Christy – greetings to all companeros – ‘keep on keepin’ on’.
Morning Christy! What is it about a new week that brings a new sense of hope, of better times, of the thought of gigs returning, crowds assembling, the craic, the venturing beyond 5k…hope you’re keeping the good side out.. along with all the Guestbookers’ here..we shall overcome.. (or as the Dylan song goes; we, “shall be released”)
“I can see a better time, when all our dreams come true..” – McGowan/Finer
Hello Christy,
Wow! So much great stuff on Dylan from people here. So much that it’s overwhelming. And we’ve not had your considered thoughts yet. I remember Dr Sinnott, months ago, prescribing 17 new minutes of Dylan.
Do you think it’s possible to choose a favourite album, or era of albums. The thing is so massive.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday with Listen. There was no rugby so I didn’t get distracted.
As I listen, I start to write arrows at the ends of lines, to try to get a feel for the shape of the melody.
I’m going to have to do it again today. The beautiful thing feels so fluid.
A quick question if you don’t mind, do you find the melody changes each time you sing it? It’s very slinky. The words too, there’s a fluidity to them. You said you need a prompt sheet. I’m wondering if that’s the best way and not to try to pin it down too much. I might try it that way.
Rebecca

I’m stuck on “its very slinky”…..what a great turn of phrase
heard a great one on TV last night….the Irish Journalist Lisa Hand was describing her anger at blatant sexism in the workplace….”that really boils my piss”
getting back to Hank Wedell’s “”Listen…..there is no other song like it….those few lines encompass everything
Hi Christy and everyone. Sorry to extend the Dylan theme, but I think it depends on which generation you are, in the sixties I was heavily involved in the CND movement and Dylan’s early protest songs were all a part of it, after his disappearance John Wesley Harding came out and I took a while to adapt to this ‘new’ Dylan, but soon became to like again whatever he brought out, you can’t argue with genius.
I think watching the doc ‘Don’t Look Back’ sums up that time. Cheers Pam

Hello Christy,
Sorry. Maybe a footnote of “hands off Rebecca” would be clear enough.

Hi Christy
Thanks for the challenge – Rebecca and I now have cyber space buzzing…D
nice work,Christy!
drop me an email Rebecca and see where we go…
I’m usually useless at song writing, but this may be a change of fortune – maybe ‘the world will be our lobster’?
when the tour gets sorted, we know where to source the t shirts!
Dave
Hello Christy,
If Dave is in agreement we could give it a try.
Those first four lines are yours.
Are they out of bounds?
They lit a spark.
Rebecca
those lines are from a current composition which I hope to record soon….I should not have shared them …hope you proceed with Dagrab
sorry,Christy

You & Rebecca should consider a collaboration
Hello Christy,
As Dave said, they are four beautiful lines.
Here are four more.
she listened and heard the words calling
he hummed in her heart as he played
every note was a joining and falling
as he opened with Lay Lady Lay

You and Dave should collaborate
