From April, 2020 – ‘My sister is not a statistic’- written by Dorothy Duffy (Co Mayo)in tribute to her late sister, Rose. Sorry, I don’t have a specific link, but it’s easily found online and is stunningly powerful…
Dear Christy,
I trust this finds you well.
Listening again to Pat’s video i still marvel at the effort that so many ‘amateurs’ went to, conquering fears and doubts, and then i came to the pro Matt McGinn’s brilliant performance and felt that this venture was best summed up in the words of his chosen song
‘woman and master , princess and the ploughman, slave and the freewoman all find their comfort in old Christy Moore’.
Stay safe
Rory
ps Matt’s ‘gig’ yesterday playing his last album in the Out To Lunch session series was fab, worth finding on t’ web
A warm bunker on a cold day – heartened by THE video, revisiting the nuances of your excellent ‘Ordinary Man’ LP and now, in tribute to the writings of Mr Burns, the sublime ‘Now Westlin Winds’ by Dick Gaughan -ah, the delights of youtube- and a choice of versions…
Hi Christy,
thank you so much for inspiring so many people to take part in Rory’s not at all daft idea. It was fun and honour for me to make a small contribution and much more fun to watch the whole video. So thank you @Rory for this great idea to bring the compañeros together. Thank you @Pat for doing such a brilliant job in putting all this together. Thank you @Christopher for linking Christy’s boyhood memories into this stream. Thank you to all participants for all your work and effort, be it songs, verses, melodies! Thank you @Nora, you are my personal favourite and you brought a big smile to my face. Obviously there’s no need to worry about future generations of compañeros ;-).
Christy, I hope that you somehow like our efforts und that they bring you some joy and distraction. Let the music keep our spirits high!!!
all the best and stay safe Birgit

Hi Christy,
Hope you are keeping well.
It was a privilege to have the opportunity to play a part in the fans’ appreciation video. Took me close to 20 takes but hey, I was not going to let the chance to sing to the incomparable Christy Moore slip by, especially when I have had the pleasure of being inspired by your songs and music since the 80’s. Well, it’s the least that we can do.
Looking forward to the Livestream in May.
In the meantime, take care and stay safe.
Best regards,

Hi Christy, hi folks,
in modification of the slogan of Dublin’s Emigration Museum “Every Person Is Connected” I would say – regarding the video we’re talking about –
“Every CM-fan Is Connected”. Connected around the world because of and by hundreds of Christy’s lovely songs.
Dear Christy, by watching the video I realised so many people are connected in love to your songs. That gives me creeps.
Thank you for the music!!!
And thank you Rory and Pat again. And yes – may the road rise to meet you.

I loved little Nora singing along to the piano noises. Music starts early.
I’m very proud to be a part of it.

Hi Christy and everyone, can’t get over the forest of talent out there and the little clearings for fans like me to fit in! The musical ability and voices must mean you have the cleverest set of fans anywhere.
Big thanks to Rory for his inspiration and Pat for all the hard work, bow down to your superior knowledge, and of course baby Nora who stole the show. Appreciate the chance to take part. Pam

Ace work by Pat and possibly the best ‘daft idea’ Rory has ever had.
Loving the fact that there are contributions from several countries. So diverse and everyone a gem.
As ever, thanks for being the maestro – the lockdown sessions and this film will keep me going until the gigs return – and they will return…
Keep well all

Hi Christy, hi companeros,
well a wee while ago Christy told us his NCH gig was put off till 1st May. We were all very disappointed, as the desperate corona stuff claimed another victim.
Then the intrepid Rory had a brainwave. If Christy can’t sing for us, well then we’ll sing for Christy! Rory invited anyone who wanted to record themselves singing, speaking, doing something. I offered tech support, Christy said HUP! And we were away!
A mighty gang of fans sent files, I spend a number of fun hours sticking them all together, and now we have a grand wee video that we hope you Christy, and many others will enjoy. If yis enjoy it half as much as we did putting it together, then grand out!
Enjoy!! Pat is over the moon that so many wanted to participate!

Hello, Christy,
I’m so exited to see this video. Roll out the red carpet guys, let’s do this thing.
It was never a daft idea from my point of view. It was a fabulous opportunity to jump in with both feet and trip the light fantastic. If that’s daft then I’d like a lot more daftness in the world please
Bring it on.
Rebecca
ps so carried away by the Hawick/German greetings,I forgot about this…
I hope everyone here will find several items of interest in the ‘Caught by the river’ newsletter/website – time after time it captures so many aspects of the human and natural world’s interactions – so, keep warm, get kettles on and have a good read/listen at http://www.caughtbytheriver.net .I’m half way through a cracking piece on Gene Clarke – ex Byrds.See you on the other side…D
Wise words from the Hawick bunker – often the ‘daft ideas’ are the gems,Rory!Well played and sincere thanks to Pat – I can only imagine the graft put in in Germany… results eagerly awaited…
As ever, you’re the mojo maker in chief – the lockdown sessions epitomise your generosity of playing and releasing hours of music and chat to keep the spirits high. The baton has been passed on and shared.Today will be a good day!
Dear Christy,
It must be like the night before the exam…and we all remember them…causing the lack of slumber, either that or the cheese!
The video of contributions will probably come out today, nerves here and in Germany jangling at how it will do.
It was just a daft idea, off the cuff stuff, a posting aimed at brightening the mood of your and our disappointment at the postponement of the January streamed gig (though am sure yours would have been more a river’s torrent than a stream).
However a wonderful guy, over in dear Europe (Scotland misses you) has spent hours and hours putting together a tremendous video at huge personal time cost, and maximum effort. Well done Pat.
I am lucky enough to have had a sneak preview, before the red carpet gets rolled out and all i can say is ‘thank you’, to 3 people.
I neither want nor deserve any thanks, it was just a mad idea.
The first thanks must go to Pat, i look forward to seeing him ‘on the road’ to thank him in person, top man, without him there was no project and only a bizarre guestbook post from somewhere up the side of Bonnie Ruberslaw , in the beautiful Scottish Borderlands.
Secondly the man who inspires us all, thank you sir, how you have enriched our lives with over 50 years of performing and recording. You even take the time to reply to our ramblings, which in itself is a monumental task, but so very kind. One of my friends, Elaine, recently said she was effectively too shy to intrude and sign up to post on the guestbook, i told her to think again, because whether you have ever met him or not Christy Moore is more than an inspiration, he is a friend ,and he would love to hear from you.
Lastly to all of the contributors to this video extravaganza, thank you. It is such a mix of bravery, love and talent that i take my hat off to every single one of you. Whether it is a spoken piece, a verse sung unaccompanied by someone doing so for the very first time, a professional paying respect, or a fan conquering a language that is not their mother tongue ,i salute you and thank you. You are special people every one of you, and for anyone who didn’t fancy it this time round, or didn’t get round to it, i hope that maybe there will be another chance sometime.
All the best , now to listen to John O’ Dreams, and hope he helps me get over.
Best regards to everyone

We’ve been alwas developing together, and we necessarily always will. Without their help for digestion we would collapse immediately.
