try 4711ers.org….keep an eye on the shop here… occasionally we come up with some retro in the haberdashery department….ps the “original” release was cassette only..it was then was sequesterd by WEA . They disrespected the ethos of the original project by re- releasing what was a limited edition recording. Everyone had given their services free…Legally WEA were entitled but any moral or artistic considerations were sneered upon by the suits.ps Adam has offered to help, if you view the subsequent posts
Sad to learn of the death of Jackie Guthrie – wife of Arlo – who posted so many wonderful clips of his performances on YouTube. He paid her a beautiful tribute on his site today and i hope that you don’t mind me sharing it here. Keep the Guthries in our thoughts and prayers today.
Reading the guestbook and going down memory lane… Ballyhaunis and the Midas Club with fridges (or were they ovens?) on both sides of the stage. What was that all about, anyway? Magic night–a Yank’s first CM experience!!

Dear Christy. my friends & i are attending your concert on 9th November in Barrowlands, we cant wait. Could you please play Spancil Hill as a request for my dear cousin Terry O,Donnell who died on 9th June. He now lies in Palmerstown Cemetery Dublin beside his dear wife Mary. Terry got me listening to your music and i am eternally grateful to him for this. He sang Spancil Hill well himself, if you could sing this it would be a fitting tribute to a great man. May God Rest His Soul. DENIS BONER.
Managed to book tickets for all of your last six concerts in the North of England and Scotland . I leave London on the 3rd of November after the mighty West Ham see off the money men of Manchester City ( come on all you dreamers ) and return home on the 14th . Is this the longest concert ever ?
Hope to squeeze in a play in Edinburgh ( Ladykillers ) ,Eddie Reader also in Edinburgh and the Killers in Manchester on the way home .I know York , Manchester and Edinburgh really well but dont know Glasgow that well and i have never been to Sterling . I can barely breathe / sleep with the thoughts of Barrowlands .
Despite teenage moodiness Paddy will not be accompanying me as he has school and it is not Half Term in England . His 13th birthday will be in Sterling so expect a request .!What about kicking off York with The Dalesman’s Litany ?
Paddy is closing in on 13 but taller than me, size eleven shoes and desperately in the need of a shave . Time flying by . I am desperate to capture every bit of of it .
Half term next year is 25th of October to 4th of November 2013 .Would be great to take the mini savage on a European Tour eg Berlin , Amsterdam etc . Can you get your military planners on to it ?
Very difficult to explain how much i am looking forward to the first two weeks of November .
If you ever need a regular name to blame for proposing Natalie Merchant’s “Wonderland” then i am happy to carry this can . Very much hoping to hear “Hurt” at least once as it would be one of my Desert Island Discs should i ever be invited . At the same time i would strongly recommend to you Gretchen Peters ” Hello Cruel World ” including ” The Matador ” .A real talent .
See you on the Road .
Hi Christy. I first heard you sing with Planxty at the MSG in the early 70’s. I sort of lost touch then until about 5 years ago when I heard you sing Ride On on the radio. I was completely knocked out by your fantastic voice. Since then I have bought just about everything you have recorded and been to all your Manchester gigs. We are looking forward to November 6th, and I think I will have to call that the end of my 60th birthday celebrations, which I am thoroughly enjoying! Anyway, if you could include Nancy Spain on the night that would be perfect ( but we will have a great night whether or not – as one of yous other fans said – your songs all feel like old friends)
Cheers
Hows things with you? hope you and declan are keeping well… Haven’t seen yous since your last visits to Belfast and Derry… Very much looking forward to your return… The CD’s in the car will have to do until then…
You played a song for the men of Slaughtneil on your last night in Derry im sure you’ll remember… you were a bit wary of the pronunciation if i recall… you played hurt by johnny cash, fantastic cover and thanks again for playing it christy, it was brilliant… just thought id let you know we are playing in the Derry senior football final next sunday so call into celtic park and bring a maroon and white flag in the off chance that youre in that direction…
Hey we had a great nite at you concert in Cavan. Both of you were excellent!! I can’t wait to go back! I was dismayed that you didn’t come out after the concert like Sligo! I really wanted to get a photo taken with u lol
What a fantastic night in the Slieve Russell, both Declan and yourself are in fine form. Its magic to sit and listen; two hours of sweet music. Thanks for all the good vibes and thanks to Hilary for all that she does. Has anyone collected the Sergeant yet?:)

The Lily Whites may have started something but I’m agin it myself…..I think that Cavan have it in them to return to the glory days

Hi Christy I had not had the pleasure of seeing you since Dunlewy in May . Thank you so much for another great night of song and craic and surprising us with the very talented Seamie O Dowd adding to the magical sounds. I also commented to my lovely 4711ers on the number of young people in awe in the audience – great to see and a credit to you. Christy gabh raibh mile mile maith agat for the gift for wee Corey and also to Mick – I cannot wait to see his face when I visit the house – His granny told me his granduncle was home from Glasgow and Cory asked him if he lived near Barrowland – a hint we think the creatur – Thanks again so much and the “Donegal Bus” will be stopping at the Balor on Sat next to see Declan Slan go foill Christy Geraldine x THE ROAD TO A FRIENDS HOUSE IS NEVER LONG

thanks Ger, we had a great pair of gigs up the road….home now and resting up
We had a great evening in Sligo at the Knocknarea arena , Enjoyed the songs and music and thought it was lovely to hear “ballad of Ballinamore” and “Ronnie Reagan” again. The many younger listeners will, I’m sure, be asking the mums and dads about these songs and so the education continues through the songs. Just as La Quinte Brigada led some of the American listeners in the crowd last night to find out more about the Irish who went to fight in the Spanish civil war.
The green and gold was raised after City of Chicago but only briefly so as not too spoil the gig for everyone else in the seats behind..Thanks again for a great night, Ger and myself both thought the fiddle playing of Seamie O’Dowd on McIlhatton gave the song another dimension .
.Enjoy the gig in Cavan
Christy's reply
whallup Marty, Seamie is a lovely player for sure and he gave Mickey Mcllhatton a great lift
Thanks Christy for yet another enjoyable night of song and craic. Seamy Dowd certainly added to the occasion – loved the fiddle intro especially. He is a talented lad. It was a “listening” audience last night and they were well rewarded with some great songs. Good to see some of the 4711 and, of course, Hilary. Hope it’s a good one in Ballyconnell tonight. Hope it’s not too long til our paths cross again. Keep well.
Christy, yes Midas in Ballyhaunis (I am from Co Roscommon originally) it would have been around 1982-84, no seating and I would say Paul Claffey was probably the link, it my first christy gig by accident and the songs and your style connected with me through the smoke and the crowds. Here I am 30 years later still enjoying the priviliege of your talent. The kids woke up this morning and called into us at separate times, talking about the gig, so I was delighted, our 10 year old loved the beeswing and is singing parts of it today, “I would’nt have it any other way”, its greats to see this happening and I am sowing the seeds in our eldests boy (13yrs) about Barrys in Grange on a Thursday night with the guitar. Thanks again Mark
Just about to hit the road for Cavan tonight…hope you and Declan are looking forward to it as much as we all are. It’s another Christy venue to add to my list which began ten years ago in Enniskillen at the tender age of thirteen, but an initiation for my girlfriend tonight and I know she’s in for a treat! Enjoy!
Their is always a warm welcome for you dec and the crew in Cymru,I will get the Bara Brith ready,No sheeps eyes here Christy.
thank you Geraint
