Hi Christy coming to see you in York in Nov have followed you for years was first introduced to you in the Grand hotel in Newbridge by Dasher Smith have been a fan ever since. Look fwd to seeing you then
Christy's reply
fairplay to “The Dasher”….York is always a good outing…the racing connection always brings out the colts and fillies, its usually a Class 1 gig and you’d never know who might turn up on the night…..greetings to all “uddersfield” listeners
how you doing christy,i see your coming to my homtown stirling next month(cant wait!),could you tell me how that came about?not often we have a true legend coming to stirling!
Christy's reply
I have not got a clue how precisely it came about… probably the promoter in Scotland contacted the agent in London who contacted my colleague in Clare who contacted me and said there is some sham buffer in Scotland wants to run a brace of gigs…I gave the nod and the process was reversed. “hey presto”, I have 4 gigs in Scotland which fills my heart with joy
Stopped for the lunch, lt was a great couple of gigs in the royal spa, enjoyed every song and tune. An amazing collection of songs and little touches added by Martin and band. Good to hear some songs havent heard in a while, two grand setlists. A brilliant room for songs. Thanks to all.
Your music is amazing! My love affair with your music began when I discovered Planxty, but it continues on! I think Ballad of Little Musgrave has got to be my all-time favorite!
Any gigs planned in Ireland next March/April ? Just trying toplan a holiday!
Any chance of Beeswing when we see you in Manchester in a couple of weeks?
Christy's reply
there will be gigs in Mullingar, Killarney and Dublin in those months….we will probably play that in Manchester next month, twas there I first heard it
CM (67)
CS I knew that verse in flickering but I was shy to shout it cause sometimes you change words in songs .We thought it was very nice.
Did you ever see the lights of Galway from the top of cork screw hill?It was so class.
Dancing at a gig would be lovely.
Dancing always depends a lot on who is playing the music.
We use Mairtín O C’s CDs a lot and also four men and a dog are real dynamite,
We have our own names on steps between us its our own dance language . Noone has a clue what we are talking about except mom and sometimes dad .Usually though one step leads to another.
2 weeks to Oireachtas na Gaeilge (dún na gál) damhsa there is long and different we have very set things we do for that and it is alone….no back up.Not allowed taps on shoes at Oireachtas so its harder to make sounds clear.
Tonight we dance on leitir mór island (were you ever there?),We’ll dance and sing together there and that is very different more just what you feel .we will use your plec….thank you
(CS 8) working on a gaeilge version of pretty fair maid …was there ever a version like that before?
(RS 13) I am working on 2 sean nós song for Oireachtas .
Enjoy tonight…..it was really so good last night. wouldn’t want it any other way!

Christy's reply
down here in The Burren at the moment, slavin over a hot guitar, tryin to figure out the chords to some weird reels, gettin tangled up in green, seekin the wayward muse, thinkin of Micho, Gussie and Packie…the ghost of Clancy is over there in a quiet corner, hes tuning his regulators before launching into the Graf Spee or is it The Grand Spree….Cíarán is behind the Revox and Junor Creehan is slippin out a quiet reel….I know , I know..I’d feckin love to go to Australia some time again but at the minute tis pure out of the question…but keep the thought goin, I left a coat in Warnambool last time and a felon owes me a fiver in Woolongong…still have to fulfill gigs in Mudgee and Cudgee, theres a fellow up The Blue Mountains in NSW has a song for me….I sometimes think I’ll settle back in Sydney
Hiyah Christy
Looking forward to hearing you and Donal in Manchester. I’ve listen to your stuff for years on LP and CD with Planxty, Moving Hearts, and your solo work, but I’ve never seen you live. I write song and tunes. Just to let you know I’m going to leave you a demo CD at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, or you can hear my stuff now if you google michaelburns1
cheers
Christy's reply
sound….Declan and I are getting the Honda serviced, we’ll be around Picadilly and Deansgate before you can say United City…..
Last time I heard Donal Lunny play was when he was trying to stop Jimmy McCarthy talking and trying to keep him singing. Jimmy is some songwriter. “Wonder Child ” is one of my favourites. Havent heard anybody else cover it but I suppose its because he has so many other brilliant songs. By the way Jody is away for a couple of weeks – himself and the band “Crooked Jacks” got a few gigs in the States and more than likely a few China What ‘n’ Tots!!!
Yo Christy ,
I hope you’re keepin well ,
Was up the country last friday for a song and listen to the band “at first light ” . It was a greats nights music . On the way up we had a van full of gear and planxty dancin through the speakers for the vibe . It dawned on me , while watching the band , of the enormity of planxty’s influence on practically every musician on stage that night .. My head was spinning with pipes and colours by the end of it all -lovely .. We had “shine on ” on repeat from limavady to home ,all through the Glenshane to rock the crew to sleep and carry us safe . Sure ya couldn’t bait it !
Take care Christy
