Hi Christy
Very happy birthday, hope you can relax and enjoy it.
Thank you Hilary for explaining who Zozimus was, was going to say earlier how great the song was but wasn’t sure of the spelling!!!🤔 Learn such a lot from guestbook. Pam
Beloved art, in how many a bleak hour,
when I am enmeshed in life’s tumultuous round,
have you kindled my heart to the warmth of love,
and borne me away to a better world!
Often a sigh, escaping from your harp,
a sweet, celestial chord
has revealed to me a heaven of happier times.
Beloved art, for this I thank you!
Hi Christy
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday
I’m not sure how socially distanced bumps work, sure maybe post a photo!
All the best and thanks again for the NCH concert last weekend. so glad I went to see you in Vicar St in January last year with my son before Corona arrived.
All the best, Seamus

Sound Seamus….I have Vicar St dates pencilled in …fingers crossed
Happy Birthday Christy. Shay Bryne and Des Cahill were wishing you a Happy Birthday there also on Radio 1 and played Joxer, great start to the morning. Really enjoyed the gig last Saturday night, came in loud and clear in our sitting room from NCH. Our eldest, Jack also has his birthday and is 22 today, 2nd lockdown birthday.

Morra John B…greetings to Spink..happy birthday to Jack
I see that I’m not the first out of the traps this morning, happy 76th, and you looking well for it.
Had a bit of a Mancunian flavour in my listening earlier on Thursday morning, one: Morrissey, like or loath him he can perform, a great Manchester August 2016 gig, by golly can he do his own songs live. Then, two: Noel Gallagher, River Plate Stadium no less, a great singing of ‘Dont Look Back in Anger’. An appropriate thought you know when you’re 76, whatever about looking back, dont we all do it, but not to, in Noel’s lyrics, to do it with anger.
Currently reading lines, prose and poetry from a Belfast man, he captures his native city awfully well, Ciaran Carson.
Am saving that review by Pat Corley to read at my leisure.
I loved the Luka story in the filling station. I thought you were going to tell us that it was one of his own tapes playing and what was he going to say?!
Even those falcons will be gone to bed, it’s getting late over there too.
Good god, where are these years going?
Dont look back in anger whatever you do.
Christy's reply
Went to hear Morr in The Point a few years back….he certainly owns his stage…great singer too…
Dont know much about the Gallagher lads except that they make a wonderful racket…that Oasis era was stratospheric…
lovely to see Ciaran Carson mentioned here
Thanks to Hilary for the links to the excellent NCH review – it sent me to a fascinating wikipedia entry on Zozimus… wonderful stuff – and what a unique talent. Well linked in song to Zimmerman now.
As so often, this forum is a much appreciated melting pot of ‘dreams, schemes and themes’ (B Dylan- Theme time radio hour).

I still have a complete set of his Theme Time Radio Hours waiting to he heard…
Hi All. Pat Corley is a discerning music listener, I first met him at the Feis in Finsbury Park in June 2011, which featured Van and Bob, and many cross over fans. We have since met at gigs in Bath and RFH, he has Mayo connections, but that’s OK ! Pat has written a grand review of the NCH gig, which also includes some background on Zozimus which may be of interest to any listeners, who were n’t around Dublin in the 1900s !!! he has given me permission to share it,, so here is the blue line,, I hope .,,, https://patrickmaginty.blogspot.com/?fbclid=IwAR3z0l66fTPQlKlCXmXCrfUDKusndwySlypjCO_nUi7MzMpq_J9zcnsF2Fg beir bua agus beannacht.. A few weeks back there was a loud bang , like thunder .
My neighbor said “the fairies are at it again and its a bad sign”! I thought what kind ráiméis caint is this.?
On further investigation I found that every stone wall had fallen.
It was like dynamite was blasted under the whole lot.
Some called it a sonic boom from a fireball meteorite .You would have to see it to believe it .Massive boulders jumped out of where they had been for hundreds of years.
I hope it does not come again.. myself and half the village were all day rebuilding.
In other news I am the first of my friends to get the jab today. Its a great day.
I feel like Nial Armstrong on the moon or
Osman Tisani an baile s’againne..
I saw the first cuckoo of summer while heading out .She was shouting on cloch an toirní . She is a sign good things are coming. !
Finally I wish you the best for your là breithe . I hope you have a grand day .
This carry on has taught us that there is nothing like throwing our arms around people that belong to us .!
I hope that is allowed for you now!

Hya Christy! Giving Ricky Lynch’s poignant 1942 another listen, and the line ‘the train is packed with the dispossessed’ sent me wandering our main street here to view the STOLPERSTEIN again, placed in the footpath in front of ‘acquired’ buildings. And indeed, they all say deported in 1942….I never twigged that before. Well done Dietmar and Frau for being involved in the project in your place. The committee here had a bit of a struggle to get it passed, influencial families in possession of the buildings today worried about the negative publicity…. But fair play and the spirit of remembrance won out.
Another point. Christy, I haven’t seen Bob 28 times, but in my lifetime I have been at hundreds of gigs, seen many many of the top world stars in great venues. And NOONE gives the songwriters credit like you do. I love to hear not only who wrote the song, but the great background you give, it puts great flesh on the song. The way a fella pressed a cassette tape into your hand as you left a gig, and Ordinary Man was brought to the world! Apart from that, what was the funniest/most interesting way you got a song given to you?

my Brother Barry (Luka) was getting petrol late one night at a Filling Station in West Kildare..songs were blasting from the overhead tannoy..he enquired at the cashier to be told that it was a local singer, that the album was availble..he purchased the cassette and sent it to me…twas Tom Tuohy..I learned Tom’s “Honda 50” which has since passed into the national repertoire..at the moment I’m working on another Tom Tuohy song …a classic from the Kildare Songsmith now domiciled over there somewhere in The Alps or thereabouts..Klldare got too flah for him
Hello Christy,
Life can be a strange thing. I guess sometimes I end up in a heap at the bottom of it. I found the kind messages on here yesterday pretty overwhelming.
I think today I will go into Brighouse, into the art gallery and talk to Matthew, about the arts Festival that was postponed. I saw on their website they’re trying to reschedule for October 2021.

Long time Sir Moore! Ironically, I haven’t a clue what to say…(had all sorts of things in my head and went blank 🤦♀️).
I can say this….my one bucket list is to meet you here in Americay! I know it’s a lot to ask and trust me, I’d much rather be back across the pond to meet you but life isn’t allowing that at the moment. Just know this…you are a rock star to me! Many happy returns 🎉🍀

I think http://www.caughtbytheriver.net taps into a similar mood – and their newsletters come up with a great mix of words/ emotions/ impact of natural world… writing by Robert Macfarlane is key to the ‘Spell Songs’/ ;Lost Words’ projects too…
Without the old words and meanings there’s no life – no history or folklore – and we’re all worse off.But not if thoughts, ideas and fine music are shared.
Enjoy the evening sky – Sandy Denny time, methinks.

Hey Christy, thanks for the gig on Saturday, i loved every spilt second of it. I was running late working here in the city and I knew I wouldn’t make it home in time so I went to The New York Beer Company, a bar I own near Times’ Square and streamed you onto the big screen, we haven’t opened there since last March so it was just you and me ! A few heads looking in the window was amusing, Christy Moore live from the NCH in Dublin by Satellite to Times’ Square in New York City, sure where would you get it. My favorite was Wandering Aongus, I played that song so much way back I dug a groove in the vinyl of the original LP, I was in my teens and lusting after some young one. All’s good here and looking forward to seeing you soon when things loosen up a bit. Warm regards Christy, Brian,
