Very little coverage in the British media I’ll bet……

Christy hi
Your marvellous rendition of James Connolly at the nch recently was well timed, as you said, for he was killed 105 years ago today.
Your renditions of so many songs remembering heroes the world over, from Jara to hughes, mendez to seal, connolly to guerin and beyond are stirring.
I assume that singing of special people, those that need remembering like Giuseppe , Hattie and nicky kelly, holds a special place in your musical heart?
Regards
Rory

Packed by 7 30 – no stage,no PA,no lights – my mates are playing support and floor spots… Mike Harding has the crowd busting guts with laughter – then the hush as you play the songs you listed below…hallelujah!

Rainy city/suffragette city/unitedcity… all names apply. I’m less than 10 miles out and I’ve only been in the city centre once this year! When you lived in these parts/I was at school – rain belted down for longer and much more frequently than it does now But, come cold blow and rainy night- rain or shine, there’ll be a mighty Bridgewater welcome when the time is right. That’s for certain!
http://www.expectingrain.com is in fine form collating Dylan articles from far and wide. Some great pieces about the 80th, as well as some excellent overviews of decades of work.Well worth a trawl…
Talking of Dylan! The official bootlegs contain lots of rough cuts/alt takes/experiments as studio sessions were done – a tempo change/a keyboard added/ tinkerings that are intriguing… if any such outtakes / experiments exist from any of your sessions would you ever think of putting them out? Lots of interest, I’m sure – if any gems lurk in the hit factory archives…
Have a good day

Hello Christy and All,
Your Bridgewater gig, was the last time I was in Manchester. I miss it. When I lived there we called it the rainy city and I missed the hills and green of Yorkshire.
Have you any plans for a Yorkshire gig?

Dear Christy,
As we awake on Wednesday morning let us sing, seperately but together…
On the twelfth of May the black flags lay in 1981
Deep mourning around Tamlaghduff has turned to burning pride
Francis fought them every day he lived and fought them as he died

Great conversations going on here.
Joe: Birdwatch Ireland must be keeping up the tradition, current chap there doing press and communications is ‘Niall Hatch’, keeping up the ‘bird theme’.
D, I stil feel ‘Live in Dublin’ is one C’s best recordings, still to this day. It’s held up; great.
R, will come with the trailor with turf one of the days. (My turf story will come another day here)
As will my Stardust tale.

tried to email you re spot prize but it bounces back…it can wait until next Athlone gig…have you heard Jim Page’s Athlone song ?
Listening to you sing Ricky Lynch’s 1942 was special.. the chorus of the song fits like a glove, lyrically and emotionally..
Aint it amazing how a song can encapsulate such emotion, but also display it in such a way to tell a story that brings the listener in..Tomi Reichental came to my old secondary school back around 2007/8 and told his story..I had forgotten his name until your dedication..but never forgot being in his presence..
Hello Christy,
Thanks for the info on Dave Burland and Dalesman’s litany. I can’t find a recording online, but there was a second hand LP on amazon, so I’ve snaffled it.
I found loads of recordings by different people. I listened to about half a dozen. Everyone has their own shape for the tune. They’re similar but it looks like we all do our own version.
Then I started to forget how my own version goes, so I had to stop listening to other people .
I’m going to practice now to get it safely imprinted back onto the vocal chords.
Thanks again,
Rebecca
I’m with ‘Ordinary Man’ now – not played it in awhile – it’s terrific work by all concerned…

I was thinking of the ‘live’ versions, Christy – but very much agree about the studio takes… I’m on the trail of Arty’s albums – I don’t have enough of his playing! D

‘I’ll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours’ – correct words (I knew I should have checked!)
Dylan never let accuracy get in the way of a good quote, so I don’t feel too bad… D
