Thank you to you and Declan for a wonderful night at the Bridgewater. It was a spellbinding night, full of contemplative songs. I was a bit worried we weren’t going to get Bright Blue Rose, but then it came as a final gift! The 6th of November is never easy for us, the anniversary of the death of a son, gone from us too soon, but your songs, as ever, touched our hearts and brought smiles to our faces. Great to be right in the middle of the front row and see the connection between the two of you, it is truly special! Please tell Declan we are loving his album, and hope to see him in our neck of the woods some time soon. Our love and best wishes for the rest of the tour. Maggie and John xxx

I will indeed pass your message on to Declan…he is on facebook if you fancy contacting him…good to read that the gig worked so well for you both..thank you for sharing
Just a million thanks to you and Declan for last night at the Bridgewater Hall. From the City of Chicago to the Bright Blue Rose you held us spellbound in the palm of your hand. Magnificent.
Graham, Annie and James Bellinger
Christy's reply
Thanks Graham….it was a grand gathering..the audience created perfect air for us last night…we were at our ease in that room of intense listening…the spell is created for us all by the various elements, the words, melodies, strings, chords, harmonies, acoustics, high-fidelity amplification, lighting, staging and then the listeners pour in and give purpose to it all… the collective creates that spell which binds us all
Hi Christy. I think you’re quite right, we do need to start standing up for ourselves and tell the big boyo’s enough is enough. We need less of the Ah sure it’s grand attitude and less parish pump politics. Maybe we should take our lead from the Greeks and start getting a bit more Bolshi. This is a wonderful and beautiful country we have and we need to tell Merkel’s toadies in the Dail that we’ve had enough!
Anyway, enough ranting from me. Hope all’s going well for you. When you coming back to my part of the woods?
Mike
Christy's reply
we’ll be back as soon as we can….have not been to Knightsbrook for a few years…interesting the names that get used in certain parts…
Thanks Christy! Here’s hoping my request makes it out of the hat 🙂 Weela Waile is indeed an ‘interesting’ song – was taught it at school many moons ago… an unusual choice of song to teach school children…. but that’s Ireland!
Looks like the tour has started well. You said to give you a shout next time I’m in town and you’d give “How Long” an airing. Well, I’ll be there on Friday night at the Church of Ceilidh, really looking forward to it. No sign of movement with this baby yet so I should be safe. The other half has decided against braving it, doesn’t fancy standing for 2 hours at 8 months pregnant. So if you see a lad bursting out the back door half way through the gig on Friday, don’t take it personally, I will have just gotten a call! Looks like the Offaly hurler O’Bama is in for another run at it the other side of the pond. Take care, and see you Friday.
Christy's reply
Seanie B….an exciting time in your family..best wishes to the Expectant Mother…she is wise to avoid Gallowgate at such a vital time…many years ago a babe was born at a Festival in Belgium, labour commenced during my set…a labour ward or home birth is a better environment then some old kip of a hall…keep safe…maybe see you Friday..wear your Coill Dubh colours…
Hope you had a good gig tonight in Manchester. I see the campaign to reinstate Mike Harding goes on http://youtu.be/5hNf95qG_OQ
I hope that he finds a good outlet for his knowledge of folk music somewhere – if not back at the BBC.
Christy's reply
Mike Harding has been around the music scene far longer then any of the suits have been in the Beeb….he will forge ahead as his creative juices are set free once more…whilst us listeners will miss his programme he himself will remain as busy as he has been since we first met in 1966. While the nature of his dismissal was incredibly insensitive he is well rid of such heartless bosses….Mike Harding is alive and well, the Beeb have lost a bright star from their firmament….Long Live Mike harding…Long Live The BBC…..anyone know the name of the suit who sacked Mike?
Hi ya Christy, hows the form? Hope you are ready for a great Gig in the Barrowlands! 🙂
Myself, Sean and John Fox are heading over from Tyrone to see you and Declan give the Glasgow gig of your lives for Foxy’s Birthday…….even getting our friend Nuala to come up from Liverpool for it!
Cant wait for some powerful music hi.
All the best and good health,
Williy Devine.
Christy's reply
Morra Willy..hope ye all rendezvous in one piece..dont get snared in Baird’s..it will still be there after the gig…good health to you too and to all Tyrone songsters

Been trying to access the pre-sales for Belfast Waterfront all day – the link in the email doesn’t seem to be right!
Christy's reply
Thanks Brendan, I’s only the singer but I will pass your message on to the backroom staff and relevant authorities…this has happened with Waterfront before…let there be no panic, it will be grand…never had these problems in The Pound Loney

Im backstage here at The Bridgewater Hall in The United City of Manchester..getting ready to go out before the lamps one more time…first played here in 1966 with the arse out of my trousars and hunger in my belly but then turned the corner…never mind the love bit, tell us about yourself and life in Synge St
Christy & Declan, An excellent show in York last night; must have seen you live at least a dozen times and last night was up there among the very best. Highlights for us were the duet on “true love knows no season” and a lovely rendition of “Butterfly”. We wondered if you had anyone in mind – for both of us the song conjured up an image of Amy Whinehouse.
Good luck in Manchester tonight and hopefully see you back in Nottingham before too long. Shane & Christine
Christy's reply
both Butterfly and True Love run specific movies in my head…sometimes individuals come to mind but never Amy…..after your post that very well may change
Wondering if my two daughters (6 & 9) will be the youngest fans at the Bridgewater tonight…? They’d go mad for a ‘Casey’! Thanks for coming to Manchester, Christy and Declan: we’re all looking forward to a wonderful evening.
Christy's reply
just getting ready now Barney…hope the girls have a good night

Thanks for a wonderful gig in York last night but the old drum still remained silient. Not good at shouting out for requests but next time will as its a while now since I saw the drum in your hands, three years ago at RFH, London. First time I heard the news about Mike Harding and cant belive he his being treated this way.
Thanks again to both of you.
Christy's reply
the drum almost came out last night but was usurped by a call for “Companeros”…I miss it myself but it only happens when it happens…gonna be playing in a different ensemble next year which will be more bodhran territory then the current band….really enjoyed York myself last night…great buzz for a Monday night in November…well done all you York Songsters…yiz razed me up
Probably too late for the Manchester gig tonight. My darling wife and I are celebrating 25 years together (we are only mid 40’s, mind!) this year, most of it to Irish music…
Originally from Germany, we got stranded in the UK some 15 years ago and probably will see out our working lives here.
We have never managed to hear the ‘Island swans’ live, you seem to have stopped playing it on tour.
It would be great to hear it just once…
