Hi Christy,
back home in Germany I would like to thank you for a wonderful concert in Edinburgh. It also gave us the extra bonus to get to know Edinburgh and Highlands. And learn about the (bloody) Scottish history and the thoughts of the Scottish about the upcoming voting for independence. Coming from a country that stuggled through its reunification it was a puzzling idea when hearing from it for the first time. Now we understand better. Anyway, if you have the chance ;-), give our regards also to Luka Bloom whom we heared a few weeks ago in Freiburg. We really enjoyed it and come again, if he does.
For now and all of you
Let the music keep the spirits high !
Karin

I will pass your message on to Luka…he is in Holland now but we will both meet in Kildare very soon…greetings to to and all those German Songbirds
‘2 things to do before you die’. See a champions league match at Celtic Park and see Christy Moore at the Barrowlands, seen him at the Concert Hall in Glasgow and seen him in Edinburgh over the years, nothing can compare to the Barrowlands.
If they stuck the Barrowlands on the moon, Christy, Declan and the crowd would still provide the best atmosphere.
Hi Christy,
I’m coming to see you in Stirling tonight with my girlfriend and several members of her family. Her uncle James has travelled from Uttoxeter for the concert and I would really appreciate if you could sing Woodie Guthries ‘Deportees’ for him. That and ‘Beeswing’ for my girlfriend Colleen would be fantastic.
Thank you in anticipation.
Kind regards
Christy's reply
we’ll have to see what way the wind blows Chris….doing call outs and dedications can be very disruptive to the flow of a gig….bearing in mind your 2 requests and an audience of 800…if everone was treated equally that would be 1600 requests tonight…that said its not every night we get an Uncle James from Uttoxeter..I’ve often wondered where it was..I backed a winner there at 16/1 in 1962
Well I’m home and never more gleeful even with the bunions. It was a rare joy to have been at the old ballroom with the faded stars on the ceiling. But some stars shine brighter than most. Thank you and thank Declan and the lads especially the divine Mr Devine. My favourite moment was when I heard how much Galtee Mountain Boy meant to the audience. I realised I’m back and fighting fit in the head, can take on the world spurred on by the rocket fuel that is Christy flippin Moore. And I’m on board one heck of a comrade ship of heroes. xx
Christy's reply
the front row in Barrowland was certainly rockin on Fri night…ye all had myself and Declan stretching to reach the sweet notes….such singin I never heard before
Right, same request ‘It’s jukebox time’ The rose, please
Christy's reply
sorry to say Rob that The Rose has not responded to my attempts at resuscitation…I tried to coax her back into the set but she has not passed muster…the only recent performance was 2 years ago in County Meath when the Rose herself came to the gig and asked me to perform the song for her family….long since retired fro the force I was blown away by the tone of her request and gave “The Rose ” my best shot…since then she has gone back into hibernation so, I regret to say, I wont be able to sing it this time round
Hello Christy .Would just like to say I’ve been a huge fan of yours ever since I was a boy back in the Banner county,My dad would take us on a Sunday out in the car to Doonbeg beach ‘WhiteStrand’ from Kilrush and the whole way there & back we’d listen to your tapes especially Cliffs of Dooneen as Kilrush is mentioned along with the area I’ve lived in is called DooneenPark, believe me my bro &sisters & I used to go wild for it
They are my dads pride and joy to this day and I look forward to seeing you live in the Royal concert hall in Renfrew Street Glasgow,Twill be my first time to see you live and I cannot wait,I’ve also got my girlfriend hooked so she has forced.begged me to take her.
I will as long as her gob stays shut 🙂
See you Monday all the best sham Billy

Brilliant gig at the Barrowlands, a great celebration of our culture. Loved the link to Nancy Spain and the back to back Bobby Sands songs and story. Its great that songs can be used to remind people of our history.
I’m going to be at the Albert Halls in Stirling and thought that I would share some Stirling History with you.
Executioner’s Cloak and Axe, 1820 is an exhibit in the Stirling Smith Museum. (If you are free in the afteroon, pay a visit, it is only 200 yards from the Concert venue on the same street.)
The public execution of John Baird and Andrew Hardie, in Broad Street on 8 September 1820 was one of the bloodiest and most unjust episodes in Stirling’s past. A group of radical weavers rose against the government, were captured at Bonnymuir, and imprisoned in Stirling and Edinburgh Castles.
Twenty of them were sentenced to transportation to Australia. Baird and Hardie were found guilty of High Treason, and given the same sentence as William Wallace in 1305: “drawn on a hurdle to the place of execution, and there hung by the neck until you are dead, and afterwards, your head be severed from your body, and your body divided into four quarters to be disposed of as His Majesty may direct.” A third man, James Wilson, was similarly executed in Glasgow.
As the Stirling hangman refused to cut off the heads of the accused, a young medical student from Glasgow, Thomas Moore, was hired to do the job. The cloak and axe used by him are in the Stirling Smith collections. Baird and Hardie are regarded as martyrs and founders of our modern democracy and for that reason, the Smith also has a desk and chair from the Scottish Parliament of 1999, where visitors can read up on this very special aspect of Stirling’s story.
Perhaps Baird and Hardie’s names could be added to those in the ballad ‘No time for love’ , a fitting way to remind Stirling Folk of our own challengers.
Hi christy nice to read the guestbook and you’re comments the way you talk about barrowlands it must be a very special place, have not been to the venue myself yet I hope that I get the chance,Rugby today not good for us but nearly a win for the Irish,
Well Christy another fantastic night in Barrowlands ye were mighty it was great to be there and enjoy the whole experience again, it was great to see you thanks again for a wonderful night and for keeping our spirits high face the puck ouy

Christy's reply
I hope we will play Midlands next tour..dont know what the reason..its all down to promoters, agent, management, venue alignment..I just keep singing and hoping for the best
Hi Christy. My wife and I will be making the annual pilgrimage to the Barrowlands this evening. Can’t wait. Still fondly remember last year, which I personally think was your best, in recent times, and still on a high from Wednesday evening at Celtic Park. If I could follow up Frankie’s request and ask for Viva La Quinta Brigada to go out to the bhoys and ghirls of the Irvine No1 Celtic Sports Club also that would be hugely appreciated. Fair few of us in the crowd tonight. All the best.
Christy's reply
Christopher…last night was fitting for the week that was in it…never before encountered such audience singing…. Barrowland remains my favourite venue in the world….everything about the place is special..walking up those industrial stairs yesterday and back into the room after 18 months was long anticipated…its darkness, its posters, old gaffa tape, the signs, ( I was surprised and slightly disappointed by some new carpet back stage, the old carpet was so interesting it is featured somewhere in the gallery), everything utterly basic but totally functional, the staff know the score ( one security man was not overjoyed by the score on wed night but I managed to get a smile out of him)….the dressing rooms sure aint Shirley Bassey but I love the space…I often wondered why I have a special place in my heart for “Mags McIvors”…its to do with the audience that assemble there..the way they have embraced my work over the years..the way they sing and listen, applaud and back off into silence…the dressing room is very close to the action and I love the sound of the crowd assembling there…coming up to gig time the temperature begins to rise.. after the gig to hear the audience exit still singing their heads off….there are so many dimensions, so many facets that make the old kip my favourite gig in the world
Ceud mile failte Christy and Declan, cant wait for another night in the bear pit, hope your both doing well and im sure the atmosphere will be at the correct tempreture for another cracking gig. No requests just go where the music takes you.
Great trainers! Great set! … like i’d never been away … the magic rolls on …
