Christy…
I know you don’t like flying BUT….will you consider a few gigs in the New York area?
Have a happy Christmas
Christy's reply
Morra Puffmomma, theres a monniker if ever I read one, I loved most of my New York Gigs…Town Hall stands out, in Symphony Space I was jittery it being my first time but it was magical for me , Brooklyn Academy was high energy, Carnegie Hall was very up itself but the audience were superb…I did 4 nights out in The Lansdowne Hotel ( Bronx ?) ….the room was hot, sweaty, crowded, uncomfortable and I loved it …..its unlikely that I will make it back over….this is the home of my work here and there are so many towns I have yet to play…..Pomeroy beckons, Athy is virgin territory ( tho I did dance there in the 60s ) I have not played Fermoy since 1972…Tierworker beckons, Manorhamilton is winking BUT thanks for thinking of me….I refuse to say NEVER
Hi Christy, Thanks for the reply, (hope it is a lucky hat), have to say it is much more important that we hear you sing, Good luck with the Gig, We are both really looking forward to hearing you again, havent been to see you since you played in Ballbofey in Donegal a while back now, and you where brillant,
Christy.. Just wanted to say thanks a million to you and Declan for an absolutely fantastic show in Vicar Street on Wednesday night.. The music was amazing and I enjoyed the banter you had with the crowd just as much! Declan was in flying form on the guitar and I really enjoyed his rendition of Sun Shine In. I honestly couldn’t have one complaint about the show.. Hopefully I’ll catch ye again some time soon!
All the best to you and Declan for the Christmas time..
Evan.
Christy's reply
just the sorta shot I needed this windy wet morning Evan…keep coming back

Christy's reply
Good news Graeme…thanks for sharing…BlueRay ? I dont know. I have an idea coming together to film some work…have not considered that format yet…dont know about the financial implications…the one thing I sussed about BluRay is that Shite movies are still Shite on BlewRae…but we wont say never til we dig into the ramifications….keep up the good work
All grand here in Willaimstown…gearin up for a big weddin tomorrow, Pajo is gettin hitched and the bauld Mero is best man..he’ll be the star of the show..then we’ll bate it into Vicar next Thursday..You’ld be invited of course but I hear tell you’re barred from every reception in the land..too right too…the poor brides dress..
Christy's reply
all the best to Pajo and The Bride, keep Mero well away from the sherry trifle…he ran amok at The Electric Picnic…4 security men are suffering post traumatic stress and they are tightening arrangements for next year….good one last night, we had one one mad drunk biddy but I played a few lullabies and she calmed down. Whallup Rocky.
Hi Christy, went to see you at Vicar Street on tuesday night with my aul fella and the missus. Really enjoyed the night as always. My dad first brought me to see you back in 1993/4 when I was only 10 years old. Im pushing 30 now and still going to the gigs every year without fail. I do enjoy the Vicar Street gigs the most cause they tend to be the most intimate but to be honest we’d watch you anywhere. Keep up the great work.
Ps. Whats Declan’s new album called? Im looking forward to getting my hands on it this christmas.
Christy's reply
“The noise it makes” is Declan’s album….its a lovely bit of work…thanks for your feedback and long haul support….greetings to all Nás na Ríogh éistóiri
Well, I guess I didn’t know that I would lie. Sorry, I’m doing it again, a multiple posting.
Here is Jimmy Martin. It’s not his best song, but the best sound take I could find on Youtube. Jimmy’s got a great song “I’m a Freeborn Man” there are just no good takes on You Tube. Again, you probably all know Jimmy Martin. But, if not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k400prJh43E
As a special gift our sons (they are all now adults) have bought my husband and myself tickets to see you in Vicar St on the 19th Dec. My husbands name is Patrick McConigley from Donegal and he has been a devoted fan of yours for years, introducing me to your music 30 years ago, I would really appreciate it if you could play The Voyage for him.
Christy's reply
Dear Bernadette…..I hope ye have a good night….Ive had a glut of call out requests this year…if I did them all there would be no time left to sing the songs…I will put them all in a hat and we’ll see what happens…
Hi Christy, It seems to have worked….as you can see from her thank you message….I can’t get a word in edge ways…..let the sweet music roll on…..Thanks…
Hello Christy, thanks a million for the song you played for Ronnies request! Last sunday, after 31 years, I flew in from Holland since your gig is on this week….
I can imagine Ronnie comes up to see you every year. I had a great time!
The best to you and thanks again!
Kitty from Holland, (Delft) xx

Hello Christy! Great to be back here with all of you. Lots of turns and twists in my own story but God willing, I will be back in beloved Ireland by summer. I’ve lots of catching up to do here. So happy you are well. ❤
Re: You excellent Simon Christmas Appeal for the Homeless.
Hi Christy,
I was undecided about what Irish Charity to throw a few quid at this Christmas until I heard your distinctive intonation on RTE Radio 1 🙂 and that was it, I was immediately Sold ! So well done Christy and thank you for throwing your shoulder behind Simon . . . . . and I’ve thrown what I could spare at it too. A very Happy Christmas to you and your family and thanks for a lifetime of entertainment. Mike in London

Christy's reply
I struggled for awhile, I was nervous…impossible to explain after 47 years on the road, lost words on 2 songs early on which was very unsettling but the audience stuck with me….after 30 mins it settled and I found my way…ended up being the longest gig of the year ( so far)….hit a good Musgrave and I really enjoyed Gortatagort….there was a few regulars in the front row…hope all is well with you
Hi Christy,31 years is a very long time…..and althought I get to catch up with you on a yearly basis,I’ve just hooked up with my first love Kitty from holland, after 31 years and as we are going to the gig tonight….I thought I would be as bold and shagging brazen to ask for a request…..any song would do……for Kitty………….have a great Gig….christy…Ronnie
Good am. And today is the 5th Anniversary of Tralee’s own Messenger Boy and what messages he carried ? He had a welcome for everyone and songs & stories galore from All Irelands to Love and Loss and Shovels !!! Let us Remembber. H http://youtu.be/Fwm0QOcZya0
Good luck with the Dublin gigs Christy – I’m sure they’ll be brilliant as always. Was a great weekend on the oul wireless – Glen Hansard’s interview with Marian on Saturday, Miriam with LAPD on Sunday morning and a good show about Ewan MacColl on the Rolling Wave last night – hope the link to it works. Great to escape from all that Celebrity X Factor Dancing on Ice stuff. Well done RTE this weekend. http://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/rteradioweb.html#!rii=9%3A10092874%3A1852%3A09%2D12%2D2012%3A

thanks John….McColl’s legacy is unequalled…his songs are already part of the tradition
Hi All. Its Vicar St time again,,,, the best of luck for the run there and in Grand Canal / Bord Gais/ Nama Hall after Christmas. Please permit me to post a link to a gig held in Vicar St last night ,,,,, promoting Human Rights Defenders across the globe,,,, it deserves a greater audience than it may otherwise receive. Ach so Christy don’t be letting Mr Marty Mac lead you to the door of LFC. We all know the truth of the matter is that the only team in the world is AFC Wimbledon who had their name cruelly stolen by the franchise beggars Milton Keynes!! I took my big girl to the FA cup match recently and lord was she joining in some unsavoury singing. Truth be told I did go to Anfield many moons ago and bought a pair of knickers which said ” I scored at the Kop”. Keep warm in these Arctic times. xx
