Hi!
Is there an e-mail address available to send some lyrics to Christy, please? I’ve unearthed some of my own older writings, and I’d be highly honoured if Christy might peruse & consider using them appropriately!
Thanks – and keep up the good work, Christy!
how you doing christy, just wondered if you manage to get to many celtic games these days? hope you, declan and your families have a wonderful christmas!
Christy's reply
I seldom attend big games anymore. In the past 10 years I have been to Croke Park twice, Lansdowne Road twice and Anfield once. I still go to the odd game but its more likely to be a low key Gaelic Fooball Match or a Club Hurling Game. When traversing the country I often happen upon club games in rural parts. I love to pull in and take a donder round the field. I am very partial to the couch with a mug of tea at half time.
Dear Christy,
Your last gigs of the year are about to happen, hope you’ll enjoy Vicar Street.
You mentioned you sang Gortatagort there last week. Maybe it will fit in with your set when you’re playing Galway, would be very delighted to hear this beautiful song again. And if I may express another request … perhaps Folk Tale too … ?
Not long now and we’ll be back to our beloved island. If all goes well, we’re going to see the full moon rising over Bantry Bay next week. Hopefully we’ll be spared by snow and icy roads and we are meeting up at the start of the new year.
Happy Christmas to you and yours. Thank you for all the music over the year(s).
With every good wish, Traudel
Christy's reply
Gortatagort appears regularly but FolkTale has slipped away once more. Safe travels and hopefully we will all enjoy safe passage to Galway. Thanks for listening and for all the encouraging feedback.
And by the way: When are you coming over here for a gig? 🙂
/Markus
Christy's reply
Thank you Markus…to the best of my knowledge, there has never been any talk of a gig in Sweden. I have played Norway, Finland And Denmark over the years…..
Just in the proces of planning our vacation in Spiddal in September. Keeping my fingers crossed for a Christy gig in the area!!! Wishing you all wonderful holidays and a healthy and happy 2013!
Ah, with our luck you’ll be playing Amsterdam that very week…. 🙁
Dear Christy, wishing you and your family a peaceful and happy time. Hoping we’ll see you again in 2013. Be well, with love from Helen, Manuel, Tallulah and Noah
CM (67) Did you ever hear of sceirde rock? Its nine miles out to sea.
Dadó says all the crowd in the dáil should be taken out there he says Marty Whealen too.
Maybe all the magpies should be taken there aswell.Theres lots of cailleachaí dubha who live there already.
The goats are gone but there are 2 horses out in the field next to us.
There head made its way into the berries and beetroot and did an awful slaughter!!!
I ve been tinn for 2 months.I hope Im better in time for tailors hill, which is next to threadneedle road. I have been listening to traveller cd it sounds very different, I like burning times ,

P..S what did the fox say when his tail was cut off?
It wont be long now …!
How’s ye Chief. Just about fully recovered & heading home for Christmas : ) That aul tune is being released in spring 2013 too, full circle & all that, hope things are well with yerself, maybe see ye about the place! https://soundcloud.com/dylan-walshe/blind-is-blind
Christy: We are so sad over here about the horrible tragedy in Connecticut, 26 dead, (I will not count the scumbag who perpetrated this act). What a wonderful country America is but certainly not perfect.
The founding fathers never added “The right to bear arms” in the constitution to include semi automatic weapons, there has to be some brave leadership to take on this problem.
Please dedicate a song at your next show to the 20 beautiful children who are lost.
And for what it is worth Happy Christmas to your family and your good self, hope to catch you in the New Year. Gary B

terrible terrible stuff….unimaginable pain and suffering for the families and community of these wee innocents…. but will the gun lobby ever bend
Now Christy you don’t have to fly. I won’t let some arse hole grab me, Man, you can take a boat to the US. You’ll travel back in time to the great emigration. Well, if you truly say “never say never” then, I compel you to leave the east coast, New York, and come out to Butte, Montana. You know, Marcus Daly was a Union man. Not like your average robber baron. He may have been a copper king, but he was for the working man. So, Christy, if you have writers block, or stage fright, come to the US of A and find the many Irish that long for the old country’s SPIRT.
Christy's reply
O Goodbye to the port and the brandy, the vodka and the stag
Thanks for the latest chat Christy. Hope this finds you in top form and that you enjoyed the time away from the work 🙂 I’m delighted to hear you’re getting all your songs together in the same place, hope this time around tunes like Veronica, Siren’s Voice will get the aduration they deserve. It occured to me in September when you were recalling how you always thought of John Reilly as ancient when he only died at 43, you recalled his sleeping in ditches with just a damp overcoat for protection. It sent a shiver down my spine, there’s many a germ of a gem of a tune even in your recollections. Keep writing them Christy!!! 🙂
Christy's reply
They came brave and boldly O, one sang high and the other sang low and The Lady sang the Raggle Taggle Gypsy O

Here’s one by Borges. If its too long I will understand if its taken off. I wish good tidings to all.
(You Learn)
After a while you learn the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning,
and company doesn’t always mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses are not contracts,
and present’s aren’t promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead…
With the grace of a woman,
not the grief of a child.
And you learn
To build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
if you get too much…
So, you plant your own garden,
and decorate your own soul…
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure…
you really are strong,
you really do have worth.
And you learn, and you learn…
with every goodbye,
You Learn….
~Jorje Luis Borges
