Howya Christy looking forward to seeing you tonight in Leisureland tonight. I’m 11 and am bringing my younger cousin to concert tonight. I hope you do Joxer and please don’t leave it till the encore. I also love Motherland and Back Home In Derry. So you might see me in front row (hopefully) wearing a Christy T-shirt and (if it’s cold) a Christy beanie. In my school we do a thing called Funky Friday where you can do any kind of talent in front of the school. I’m learning to play guitar and am gonna play to joxer and sing. So see ya tonight looking forward to it after two years. From Harry!

Looking back at it now Bourkey, …there is something in the Salthill air that makes the night sparkle…its that mixture of Connemara with a Spainish pinch, plus a tinch of Clare and Mayo, fire in a few shakes of Claddagh and a sprinkle of Headfort Rd and we got a heady mix
Hello Christy and All,
I first learnt about the joys of marmite when someone added it to homemade tomato soup. Got a big jar of it in my spice cupboard now. I have a hundred answers to the Nigella thing but none will see the light of day.
Love that verse about the men of the forest. The thing about the ships really got me. All the ships came from the forest but they never sailed there. We lost trees and gained ships.
I gave my love a cherry, that has no stone.
I gave my love a chicken, that has no bone.
I told my love a story, that has no end.
I gave my love a baby, with no cryin’.
Glad to have identified this guestbook, Is there somewhere I can offer/sell tickets I can’t use. I was invited to a wedding and can’t make Westport show, have 3 tickets. Ticketmaster are not reselling and hotel said contact organiser.

Thank you yes Christy – my garden & life are rosy.
Off to Canadio in 2 weeks with The Minister of War & Finance: should be a ripper of a trip. (Always wanted to visit Quebec etc)
If I don’t kark it in the meantime the plan is for either NZ or Erin’s Isle next year then a real kick-arse world cruise 2024 – even if I am in the land of the permanently bewildered by then.
Loving your description of how you pick set lists, juggle them – then feel the spirit of the moment & follow your heart.
Your music gives us all joy & you must love sharing the sensations with us.
As Jimmy Buffett sang: “kick on in, second wind!”

just about to depart for Galway now ..all set to face the music one more time..

Hello Pam,
Lovely to see you!
May I ask if there is a vegetarian option for the gravy wrestling championships? Wondering about cheese sauce (made with vegetarian rennet, obviously)…

Hi everyone
Can I add a thumbs up to all contributors to this site, still find it compulsive reading. Missing Dagrab, his imput is sorely missed, he always went out of his way to gather information for others.
Glad there might have been a sighting, was looking out for him at the
Gravy Wrestling Championships in Rossendale but no luck.
Hopefully might get across to see a concert early next year, I have to plan that far in advance! Still crossing fingers for a UK tour, cheers all. Pam
I love this site & the conversation.
Christy’s music is so varied & enjoyable.
With dangerous dickheads like Bozo & his successors,Trump & our own Aussie Peter Dutton (malevolence personified) we need open discussion & moving music to carry us through.
Keep on keeping on all of you good people.
Sorry for the homily – my old Mass days must be creased in my brain.
May we all overcome the merchants of greed, superiority & cruel neglect.
Lotsa good wishes,
Danny Harris
Okay, so they’re blue not green, but they’re pretty wild anyway.
Here’s a verse by Lewis Carroll.
The time has come,’ the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —
Of cabbages — and kings —
And why the sea is boiling hot —
And whether pigs have wings.’
The first line is painted on the wall of The Temple Bat.

The men of the forest ask it of me
how many strawberries grow round the salt sea
I answer them back with a tear in my eye
how many ships sail in the forest
Finland’s P.M. was caught on smartphone having fun and grooving to ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’, which she was then compelled to publicly apologize for. I like Luka Bloom’s interpretation of the song.
I just saw part of a channel 4 news interview with Tova friedman, she has written
The daughter of auschwitz
She had no name in that hell hole just known as

Hi Christy, pleased to report that on Channel 4 news i am sure i saw Dagrab over Andy Burnham’s shoulder, holding up a placard extoling the virtues of the suffragettes and wearing a mick lynch t shirt , outside Madchesta cathedral tonight.
Dagrab you are missed, fingers crossed for your computer replacement….we know you can read this so keep onkeeping onbrother.

We await the return of our Suffragette City Correspondant….is he lurking in The Shambles ? has he taken refuge in some other site ? his silence here lamented…we send him our best wishes
Christy/Rebeccah, talk of The Big Yin & silly poems reminded me of this poem which I wrote for my children when they were in infant school. The idea was for them to read the poem and then make their own drawing at the bottom of the page.
The Dingbat bird is a very silly bird
and he lives st the bottom of the tree.
He makes his nest from old string vests
and eats wiggley worms for his tea.
Late at night, when the sun shines bright,
just about half past three.
The Dingbat bird can oft be heard
as he sings his song, care free.
The Dingbat bird is a colourful bird
with green enormous feet.
Long thin legs, a tail at the back
and a beak at the front, to eat.
So if you see a Dingbat bird
be sure to say ‘hello’.
But if you’ve never seen one
why not draw one down below..
Looking back without realising it I suppose I was teaching them to accept things in life that are different. I think maybe a few politicians could do with drawing a Dingbat bird?

Time… it is a precious thing
I hope you don’t mind me sharing this but I thought it might of interest to some of you. I chatted with Jim Page (Hiroshima Nagasaki Russian Roulette, Zurich, Landlord, Clocks Wind Down) this week on The Green Wave podcast. He went into how Hiroshima Nagasaki Russian Roulette was formed among other brilliant songs. He is a real gent and his new album is beautiful. He also spoke very fondly of you, Christy. Hope you are all keeping well.
Warm Wishes,
Davie

Ladles and jellyspoons
I stand upon this speech to make a platform
the train I arrived in has not yet come
so I took a bus and walked
I come before you to stand behind you
and tell you something I know nothing about!
One fine day in the middle of the night
two dead men got up to a fight
back to back they faced each other
drew their swords and shot each other
a paralysed donkey passing by
kicked a blind man in the eye
knocked him through a nine inch wall
into a dry ditch and drowned them all.
I’ve been wondering about this.
I think the one fine day section sounds very old.

Hey Landlord

Hello Christy,
I like this one by Mervyn Peake
I cannot give the reasons,
I only sing the tunes:
the sadness of the seasons
the madness of the moons.
I cannot be didactic
or lucid, but I can
be quite obscure and practic-
ally marzipan
In gorgery and gushness
and all that’s squishified.
My voice has all the lushness
of what I can’t abide
And yet it has a beauty
most proud and terrible
denied to those whose duty
is to be cerebral.
Among the antlered mountains
I make my viscous way
and watch the sepia mountains
throw up their lime-green spray.
Dear christy,
Good tip, had never heard of A Lazarus Soul.
